- Living on a narrowboat in the cold of winter its not all that bad, especially if you can find the space to tune into mother nature. Observing, connecting and focusing on her magnificence, the colourful rising sun, the elements, the flora and wildlife warms you inside. The pure white snow, a winter wonderland, and a frozen canal etched with amazing patterns all bring such delight. Join me on my winter journey on the Upper Peak forest canal.
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

A priceless vlog, thank you for taking the time within your space to create this, by watching this I have forgotton time if only for 30 mins, my busy mind has cleared if only for a short while...... our purpose in life is always changing, sometimes we dont know what that is until we are in the moment. A sense of achievement however little in our daily life keeps me focused on the bigger picture, wishing you a safe, warm, christmas. Xx

I`ve only been on a narrowboat three times, once was my uncle Peters in Bollington, my home town, and twice on a hired boat from the wharf in Bollington. Each time was magical, so relaxing. Absolutely the best yet, a total joy to watch I have shared it with my lovely friends thank you 🌼🌱 I find space on mountains and odd places like the other day in the fog at a place that is normally teaming with people as it’s a very beautiful spot on the edge of the Cotswold hills, all the people had gone and I felt all the tension disappear… quite unexpected 😊 I guess the key is to try and find that space a little more often 🙏🏼❄️🌼🧘♀️ I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, here’s looking forward to 2022.
