@@aprilchaney250 oh this is where my nightmare scenario happened. The lines the precise V5 makes beautiful line, but if you keep your lab book on the bench and solvents and water spill on it, it can ruin pages because the ink is not resistant to anything. I nearly had a whole book written in precise B5 and staedtler triplus and marvy le pen get entirely lost. Stuff of nightmares. Now I have this giant bag of those former favorites that I am loathe to touch because it brings back the anxiety of trying to salvage lab notebook pages and a while notebook of EvoDevo notes.
The Hi Tec C has a similar feeling when writing but is more resistant. I think it is same with the precise p-700 and p-500.

I used to obsess with getting the fine point RSVP pens, which only came in clear bodies, and medium point pens, which sometimes came in colored bodies, and I would switch them out so I had fine point pens in colored bodies. It was then I learned to read the refills and realized they had a date on them. I would see RSVPs on sale and through the packaging I could sometimes see the date. I realized they were on sale because they were old. I put slips of paper with my name in the pen body and coworkers learned I was obsessed with my RSVP pens. I have new favorite gel pens now, but I'll never forget my first sincere pen obsession with RSVP!! I still have them, even the minis that I could use on my lanyard. I'm sure the ink is nasty now but I keep them just in case..... 🤣

    • @penelopefp
      @penelopefp 2 роки тому +2

And they have a shimmery ink color now but only in medium or bold point, which I just can't write with. I've thought about taking old pen refills apart and seeing if the shimmer ink will flow through an old fine point tip. I'm that ridiculously nuts about pens. "My name is Penny. I have a pen problem."

I really respect Pilot as an excellent manufacturer. Just about everybody uses a pen, and Pilot seems to have zeroed in on what different sorts of users want. Some people want a heavy, more expensive, work-of-art pen, but IMO those pens are more suited for signatures, or for display in an office, and they don't serve as well for regular, everyday writing. Everyday writers want to focus more on what they are writing about than on what they are writing with. They don't want the instrument to distract them from their work. The pens shown here are light, unobrustive, and easy to carry. They write smoothly and don't have to be refilled often. So, the user is free to focus on their actual work.

Late 2000s and into the 2010s, I'd go to jetpens and look for the recommendations in my college's book store, which was surprisingly well stocked with similar or the same things. I'd try them in person and order larger quantities from Jet Pens.
I came back recently while committing to switching from the Marvy, precise V5 and Triplus pens that I so loved. Through Jet Pens I discovered the HiTec C line, juice, and Jetstream lines, which I all use regularly now. Thanks for being part of my life for... over a decade!

You can also get suuuper subtle line variation with the plastic nib. Now I mostly use a fountain pen with rohrer & klingner sketchink lotte. But when I need a super fine line or a colour other than black, the pigma micron is what I reach for! That being said, if EF fountain pen nibs weren’t so damn scratchy, I would choose to use a Fountain pen for everything because I hate having to throw the plastic bodies of my microns away when I’ve used them up 💀

I've been using the V5 for more than a decade (probably more like two decades) and keep boxes of them in various places in the house. I don't use them as much as I used to, as I've discovered the Pilot Juice, Hi-Tec-C Maica and Zebra Sarasa Clips, but they're still the old reliable that I can always depend on.

I am a stationery hoarder and I love all kinds of pens. I find the Pentel R.S.V.P. is so comfortable, but it always blots ink when I write with it. My Hi-Tec-C 0.3mms don't write smoothly after a few weeks. I actually like clear pens, so those were disappointments for me. Fortunately, I have loads of other pens I love!

I think the black ink ohto with the 1.5mm tip if you write large and like gel pens is a great ol reliable. But for me, the sarasa .7 japanese mark on black gel pen is always #1.

I think an interesting pen with a basic body is the Uni Power Tank. A budget pressurised pen that can write in tough conditions but with a kinda boring body.

The Humble Flare pen. My first cartooning pen. Still a fallback sketch and diagram pen, and sometimes you are the only place I can source it reliably. The Micron, even ignored for years, still has ink and works right away. Excuse me, I need to go draw something with the Microns....

I like trying to write, legibly, as small as I can with some, if not most of my pens, because it lets me know how much I can control it and I do it to practice my writing. An odd test I know...I blame a Jr high school drafting class for that, but that said, I do like the Pilot High-Tec C in 0.3mm for that reason. Very nice.

i love the pentel rsvp. when i was 10 i found the pink one on our computer desk and i took it for myself. i used it daily for 3 years when it finally ran out of ink. i was sad but i was happy to enjoy pens after being stuck with papermates throughout school. at first i thought i hated pens. no, i just hate pens that dont do their job😂 now i hav a pen addiction. from the pilot G2 to the zebra ballpoint😁

Mmmmhm. I have owned and tried majority of these. I use the RSVP for making light notes of delicate paper, like Bible paper; V5 for grading and drawing line art; I *used* to trust Microns for drawing, but they dried out even while capped. My Prismacolor fineliners have lasted longer than the Microns and serve well. Sowwy, Steph lol
Jetpens has taught me good refills can go into even better bodies, so don’t knock it until you try it!

If there were more comfortable versions of the Hi tec C, I would love it even more than I already do. Comfort seems to be a growing requirement for me. I may only be in my early 30s but I can feel my hands becoming more susceptible to aches and stiffness.
I like the idea of the microns but I always found them difficult to use due to the fact that it has a sort of squared off tip and my writing angle wasn't optimal for getting that smooth writing feel. Perhaps the holders will help!
