I ordered mine yesterday - been waiting for a few months! Looking forward to seeing it. I’ve liked the look of their bags, but always been a backpack “carrier”. Thanks for the up- close review
I've been on the hunt for an all full-grain leather backpack for Xmas this year and fell in love with the Venture2, but they're sold out. I was going to settle with one from Moral Code and buy it this week, BUT THEN THIS VIDEO! This thing is already in my cart!
Capacity is why I’ve never gotten a grown up brief case and stuck with a backpack. Do you ever feel like the shoulder straps are too narrow? They look a tad narrow for my liking for stability and support.
Great review. I have two of their weekender bags, love them. But, only complaint: they feel heavy. I recently purchased a Shinola bag, but the more I learned about the brand, the less I want to keep it. So, I'm thinking about an S&P backpack. Sooooo....does it feel too heavy?
You mention the briefcase is the Gladstone but isn't that their doctor bag? At any rate, the backpack looks gorgeous. Just ordered their canvas briefcase and it is a delight.
Does anybody know where these are made? Their website seems very cryptic as well. They mention that the leather is tanned and finished in Italy but I don't see anywhere where they say the bag is constructed.
I really wish they had released this a year ago when I ordered my Beckett Simonon backpack. I love my S&P Counselor and take it to the office everyday but it's a hard sell to retire my BS and dish out $500 for this :( Really wish they had released this waaaay sooner :( Great review though!
I got the Beckett simonon backpack.. its lovely but...its smaller than advertised..disappointed and its going back!( I have a lot of their other stuff and they make truly great stuff)
He's saying Veg Tanned. As opposed to the other main form of leather tanning which is Chrome Tanning - Chrome tanning is quicker and cheaper, the implication being Veg Tanning is a sign of quality.
I can’t stop looking at this bag. Do you think it’s nice enough / appropriate for a business environment? Wear a suit everyday and currently use a leather samsonite briefcase, but can’t beat the functionality of a backpack and this one looks amazing.
Adam Lewinski I’m planning on using it in a business setting. I think it’s formal and professional enough (at least from what I can tell from pictures at this point)
OK mr. Clean, this is the part where I would normally bitch about the price but this time I don't think I will cuz I like it and I think I would buy one, maybe! You do realize mr. Clean is bald.😆😂😝🤣
I travel a lot... you can get a much nicer bag in Vietnam (100% leather) for $100. For about $200, you can customize the heck out of it - extra pockets, etc. Just saying... for the price of two of these bags, you could take a trip to Vietnam and pick up a couple of bags, and have a whole vacation. Also, a custom tailored suit with amazing fabrics is about $100.
@@kerron60able Pretty much anywhere, but the biggest selection is in Hoi Ann (also known as the "Lantern City".) This is the same place that's known for creating custom clothing/shirts/suits/etc for very reasonable prices.

Just ordered one. Price has gone up by $100 but thats the world we live in.

Sometimes my timing is impeccable
Hey! Do you still use this backpack? Thinking about buying it. Haven’t seen too many reviews on leather backpacks other than this one
literally been waiting for this backpack for months, no lie.
kongmw it is time
Hey great video, do you plan on doing an overcoat video ? I don’t know where to buy a good quality good value overcoat or what to even look for
It is pretty common, but SuitSupply actually offers incredible overcoats!
@@RezensionaerDe I wouldn't say incredible. They are very light and won't keep you very warm on it's own.
@@flyguy22190 I disagree, especially the cashmere ones are pretty warm. It also depends on which season's overcoats you buy.
Had a similar Saddleback experience. They're really great bags. This looks like a nice option, too.

Yet another superb review. Thanks. Oh, love the stubble.
Great vid!
What are your thoughts on quality of items from satchel and Paige vs Carl Fredrick ?
Isn't the name of the briefcase model The Diplomat?
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, lol!
Looks like the Diplomat. The Gladstone is a weekend bag.

Hey Jeff, do you own the Carry All? If so would you mind uploading a short video of the bag so we can see what it looks like in real life? Thanks
It is high quality because lower quality would have a seam down the front as two smaller pieces are much cheaper than one piece.
Love the bag, wish it came in black. Great review as always Jon

Turkey
will be nice if there're discount code around....
Hi Jon can you check out Yukon Bags?
How long is the wait after you order it
I love it! I'll start saving for the backpack.
No review of the interior?
My wife would ask me where that backpack was from, then proceed to berate me for spending that much money. This is why I hide my bags from her.
Check out Pad & Quill and Hardgraft. Maybe you'll find some good value there as well, Jon.
Yes love them! Might have something coming up soon
I wonder if we could get one with a bottle holder on the side.
In leather? Not sure, wouldn't be from S&P. I just got to check out the new HURU A back which has one on each side!
@@The_Kavalier Aah that's interesting. Looking forward to a review from you on that.
While they don't do Backpacks, you really need to check out Col Littleton leather bags.
how does Daveed.co compare to this?
That other bag is not the Gladstone.

What word are you saying before tanned leather? Also, if you bought it why do you have to ship it back? Don't get it.

The rivets are a little crude looking
I want to like it but the colour is just not for me.
Too shiny for me. I just picked up a Celia Camera Backpack at this price point
"Mr. Clean" ;)
Shawty how you flow so mean
Hideous back pack but great video John.

I've never seen leather come from the far east that is as rich as this but I'd love to be proven wrong.
Exactly where would one go in Vietnam to get one of those high quality bags?

I want one but I'm afraid its too shiny lol
Bruh it's leather
