- Riding Tail of the Dragon on a Pan America. You need to do it. Spent a week riding in Tennessee, and this day we were trying to go to Parsons Branch Road by Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountain National Park, but the road was closed that day. We ended up taking a detour around the Foothills Parkway, then ended up riding the Tail of the Dragon. After that, we went to Cherohala Skyway. All in all, an incredible day of riding on my Harley-Davidson Pan America Special. Join me, along with @Petesmotoadventure as we take our Pan America bikes on some incredible curves and views.

Hollister, CA?
Winner, winner. There was a rep from AMA who said 99% of the riders in Hollister were great, and that 1% caused all the problems. That’s paraphrased but that is where the term came from. Nice job.
Excellent video, excellent drone work and amazing editing. This is one of my favorites of yours for sure, thank you for sharing it. Wish we could get one more ride in this year
Thank you my friend. Wish you could have been there.
You're right, you guys picked a great day. Not much traffic at all. That drone footage was on point my friend. Great video!!
Enjoyed riding a couple days with you. Love that CVO.
Great drone footage buddy. I've done the tail a few times but I like the Moonshiner28 better. I'm planning on going to VAMM next year so I can ride The Back of the Dragon and see the sites on that stretch of road.
Thanks my friend. I’m sure I will see you next year at VAMM.
Great footage! Aly and I have been talking about adding an ADV bike to the garage. It is down to a Pan America or a GS1250. Will really depend on which one we can find used. And I think it was Hollister. Part of the reason that the rally is no longer as well.
Correct on Hollister. They called it the Hollister Riot. The BMW is a great bike too. Good luck with the decision. You’ll love it by where you’re at.
Great editing on this one. Great to see a different perspective. Would love to try it on pan am with good set of sticky tires. Man loved watching this brings me right back.
Thanks for the great memories my friend.
How can you not have fun on a road like that bro.
The whole week was incredible.
Beauty!...I bet it was fun on the PA!...thanks for sharing!...stay safe...ride safe!!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
It was an absolute blast Pinks.
Dragon 🐉 is so close to my home I use to ride it every weekend until it got so congested and now we ride it just to get from point A to point B.
I was expecting more traffic that day but just one car slowed me down. I wouldn’t want to ride that with mass traffic.
You and Pete are killing it! I agree the Snake is way better! And you had to ride it on a new bike. Pete must have been doing 75 mph? And practice more in sport mode. Get a patch! Sorry I missed that ride! Loved the drone footage! Ride Safe
I only got up to 70 once or twice. The snake is fun but the Dragon is more technical IMO. But they let electric bicycle in to cades cove BS in my opinion. That is a motorized.
Exactly @petes1800
good stuff !
Thanks AB. Appreciate it.
Lauflin, Nevada ?
One State over
Hollister, Ca.
You got it sir.
Great rides in Tennessee for sure!
Oh absolutely
I would love to try a Pan America on the Tail, I bet it’s so much fun!!! I’ve been on the three roads you mentioned, and I love them all, but for different reasons. The Tail is absolutely my style of riding, I like to challenge myself through all the technical twistys it has to offer. The Snake is amazing, some great technical stuff, but yet with some great stretches of relaxing. The Back of the a Dragon is fantastic, it’s length, and the variety of terrain, combined with the incredible views, makes it amazing. Great ride!! Be safe
All three are solid roads. The Snake is a hidden gem. It had some great stretches. Technical roads are great, but I like to mix it up.
😎👍
I’ll be riding through Dragon 🐉 Monday while heading to Red River Gorge in Kentucky.
Have fun on your ride. Sounds like a great time.
Man, so jealous!!!! Great vid dude! 👊😎
Hey man, great to hear from you. Hope you are well.
Nice video, Collin. Riding in my back yard. Not sure you would've enjoyed Parsons Branch. Me, the wife and dog took her Subaru over there. Cades Cove traffic makes 2 wheels no fun and even thought he traffic is one-way on Parsons Branch (even though we met a caravan of asians coming the wrong way), not tons of fun. All the river crossings are paved fords...not super challenging.
Good point on the traffic. We got up there by 10. Probably should shoot for even earlier. I sure would have liked to rode it though. Still a great day. Can’t believe I didn’t reach out to you when I was down there.
Colin, If i remember correctly. You used to live in Colorado? Just got back today for my 27th time in he last 31 years. To me if you want spectacular scenery with some great roads Colorado is the best. Colorado you have to stop to admire the scenery otherwise you will miss it or ride of the cliff.
However if you want great twisties with hills the southeast is the place (TN, NC, VA, WVA & GA) after a while all the trees look alike
I couldn’t agree more with Colorado. I’ve been all over the State, just not on a bike. Soon, hopefully soon.
I thought the saying came from a rally in Sturgis when the American motorcycle association said most motorcycles are good only 1% were bad ?
Hollister, CA. Came from a rep from AMA.
Those 2 yellow lines are just for cars…;). (Be careful…that’s not the road to ride the paint). Hi Pete!
I do ride the yellow line way too close. Need to work on that.
You haven't rode till you've rode the tail
I would agree Jaman.
Not much of a fan of the Tail myself, definitely prefer the Back of the Dragon and The Snake. And I had one of my best riding days ever on the Cherohala Skyway, nobody in front of me the whole way across after the two cars up front both turned off towards Bald River Falls. If I'm not mistaken, that dam you rode past around the 9:00 mark is the one where they filmed "The Fugitive" a while back.
I didn’t know that about the Fugitive. Didn’t see Richard Kimbal out there riding. Thanks for telling me about the Snake. Great road.
You're welcome! You should try doing both that and the Back of the Dragon same day, I've done it a couple of times. That dam was pointed out in one of Hawk Girl's videos a few years ago, that's how I found out about it.
I'm almost always in road mode. I did make a custom map, I copied from road mode. Turned up the suspension and engine breaking. Also throttle response but not as twitchy as sport. Great do it all bike. I enjoyed the different camera angles. Tricked me with that question. I knew about it being an AMA comment, but didn't know where.
I have a custom one but I need to update it. Sport is just silly fast.
Looks like a blast on that bike. I also love the way my ST1300 rides on those roads also. Love the drone work, wonderful.
Thanks Bob. I could see you having fun on that bike.
The Snake was Great I agree I will do it again next year for sure
Thank you for taking us down the Snake. I really enjoyed that ride.
Chero-HAY-la is how the locals told me to say it Bud.
I was completely off then on both names. Appreciate the help. Still jealous you are in Colorado.
@@Broncoride I spent the last 6 months near Knoxville, TN. I probably rode the Dragon 50 times, I know its not for everyone but I love it. I'm back in Colorado now though still waiting for you to come out and ride with me!...Ride
safe Bud!
