- OPEN ME!: At last! The England Trip 2024 vlogs are finally here! This is London Day 1, which covers flying from Phoenix to London. Follow along with Mom and I as we fly overnight from Phoenix Sky Harbor to London Heathrow and arrive at our hotel. There's a hotel room tour before we go to dinner and then do a little exploring on a gorgeous sunny evening and run some errands before we go back to the hotel for the night. I hope you enjoy! :) xx

For just having a few hours to explore after getting checked in, we had a lovely evening. The weather was incredible. Tomorrow's vlog will be all London and I'm so excited to share the rest of the vlogs with you all.

Thank you Cindy! We had the best time. I'm home now but finally getting to edit the vlogs and upload them. I was more focused on enjoying the trip than trying to edit while over there. I never ran into Hannah, but that would have been awesome lol. Next vlog will be up tomorrow!

✈🇬🇧 We're FINALLY in London! Can you tell I'm excited? When you were walking through the Arbor (the gorgeous tree canopy) did I see Moms vlogging in the background? She's so cute! Glad you had an awesome first day, Andrea :) Can't wait to experience the rest!
Mom "vlogs" she just doesn't' post them lol. I always joke that she's just as much of a content creator as me, her content just all stays private. We were both capturing as many details from the trip as possible. :)

It's finally time for the vlogs! :) I love how excited you all are. It makes me even more excited to edit them all.
I've never been to Europe, but I hope to visit soon! A future video idea could include breaking down the costs of a trip to London and offering recommendations for hotels, sightseeing, and other activities-a comprehensive London travel guide. I might start planning a trip there when I graduate with my PhD in a few years!
We totally splurged on this trip since it was the first time in 4+ years lol, so this wouldn't be a good trip to use for a cost breakdown, but I could totally look back at all of my trips and hotels I've stayed at on my own in the past and put together something. I can definitely put together a travel guide of sights to see and things to do and overall how to plan something for different budgets. That would be fun. :)

I'm so excited to edit the vlogs for York and share them with you all. I'm only up to editing day 5 of our time in London. But York was incredible! Such an amazing visit. :)
Really loved your first London vlog Andrea! Your excitement is infectious and it was lovely to see you and your mum exploring my city through a tourists lense. I went to an amazing fish and chips pub in Brooklyn that was owned by an Irish couple so you can get authentic fish and chips in the US, but you have to search for it .xx

I'm resting a ton. As you'll see in all the vlogs over the next two weeks, we packed a lot into every day so Mom and I are both exhausted lol! But I'm so glad I have all the vlogs to share with you all. :)

I always take Diazepam on long flights, I have found it really helps my anxiety and helps me rest better, note for next time maybe!☺️

I was so tired but so excited. It was such a lovely first evening in London. :) I've tried different meds in the past for flying. I might have to revisit that for next time. And yes, as much fun as being over there was, I was so happy to be back in my own bed. :)

Oh darn! That would have been great! I’m hoping to be back next summer. I don’t want to wait another 4 years. Will plan ahead more next time. If you can’t make it to London, I might be able to meet closer to you. ☺️
The trees are called 'London Plane', not sycamore (although similar)
Thanks for the info! I looked up London Planes and saw they're a hybrid of a couple trees, including the American Sycamore. No wonder Mom thought that's what it was. :) They were so beautiful, we were both in awe of them.
Cool! Where did you stay? When is the best month to go? My brother and I are thinking of a vacation next year. And London is on top of the list.
We stayed at the Thistle Holborn, in the Bloomsbury/Holborn area. It's a great location and there are a ton of hotels at different price points in that area. The spring/summer are is the most expensive time to visit, May to August. But I think prices are better in March and April or in October/November, and the weather isn't that bad during those months, cool and a bit rainy but also some sunny days usually. Summer will be more expensive and can also get hotter, which might be an issue if your hotel doesn't have air conditioning.
Tube Piccadilly line from Heathrow much quicker & cheaper ❤
Definitely cheaper and sometimes quicker. There were train strikes that day so I think it would have been really busy. Plus after a 10 hour flight and being exhausted and in pain, there was no way we were going to be able to manage all of our luggage on escalators or the stairs at Holborn Station, let alone the walk from Holborn to our hotel. I've done the Tube from Heathrow a few times. I would totally do it in some situations, like if I only had a carryon bag or if I was picking up a friend. :)
I am a Londoner and I don't live in the centre of London and I live in the suburbs but I do sometimes go into the centre of London

@@AndreaJSeverson next time you visit london explore the suburbs around the east part. I live near a forest and its very quiet. You would still be able to get into central london in about an hour and from where i live you can travel to little villages
@@AndreaJSeverson im jetting off to australia soon and would recommend it but ove never found any american tourists in australia. Lots of British who emigrate there
