When Stan is on top of his game, he's one of the best in the sport. And that backhand of his is a thing of pure beauty ❤
Not one of. The "best"! On his day he was better than the "Fed"!
@jooohanonly on clay? 😂😂😂 you are in error and besides that you are also too arrogant for nothing. It means you don't know Stan's career. He has two of the three GSs on the hard, victories over the three greatest players in history on this surface. Check before you talk without knowing. And keep your mouth shut. You will only have to win.
@@krishsangs6610lets not get crazy now
Stan could've been a 10-15 slam winner but the Big 3 were a step quicker...still the best one handed back this side of Don Budge.
Why does everyone have to argue? Stan is clearly world class. His 4 biggest wins of his career were all in finals against the big 3. Those guys are like the Gods of tennis and to win against any of them is legendary
That backhand of Wawrinka is as glorious as ever.
Goes to Justine Henin
"do you have any questions?"
"no."
"ok"
great play from stan
Yeah, that made me laugh. What questions could these two veterans possibly have?
What a highlight
Yeah, 3 mins of highlights and seconds wasted on that. I appreciate that they upload something, but fans would do a better job if they weren’t struck down by crappy copyright claims.
Sounded like a boxing match lol. Any questions? Touch racquets 😂
@@er... are we allowed to eat hot dogs
A Murray vs Wawrinka match in Roland-Garros, it's like we're back to 2017
They play in 2020..
@@marianogonzalez9248 And in 2017 and 2016, both in the semi finals, sharing the wins.
Too bad it was the first round
2016 was the better match that Murray won.
Rafa v Alexander would have been a great semi a couple of years ago. Instead, just another first round match.
Two old men with mobility issues and all the ball striking ability in the world, fking fantastic watch
Wheelchair League
Basically every strike is lethal cuz neither one can defend 😂
Rubbish. Murray's groundstrokes are feeble
They are not “ old men “
They are great players with yrs of experience!😊
they're both young and full of vigour
Most devastating backhand in all of Tennis history
Kuerten: "Hold my beer"
I meant single handed
@@snickaren111not even close
have you heard of this guy roger federer?
Agassi, djokovic, sampras… just to name a few.
The years may have passed, but Stan the (Old) Man is still showing us the best one-handed backhand this world has ever seen!
Nice ! Two legends of the game!
Yep, Stan and the umpire
@@lilyleon1475lol
@@lilyleon1475murray won atp finals, 3 slams , 2 olympic golds and many many 1000 masters so stfu
Stan's "this is gonna be fun" face at the beginning. 😆And the warm embrace with extended conversation at the end. ❤
Fun to watch those pretty backhands from Stan
Wawrinka and Murray are legend's you make tennis amazing 😎👍
Two legends. Could be the last time we see this match up at RG.
The embrace at the net ❤
What a performance from 39 years old. He is a real treat to watch❤
Damn, Stan the man showing that he still can 👍
How interesting for these two to face off in the twilight of their careers, both won three slams each smack in the middle of the big 3 domination. That itself is a huge achievement.
Thank you for not saying big 4. I like Murray, but let’s get real. Murray and Wawrinka are both fantastic players of the same level. The big 3 are in a different category.
Oh my god you people are so annoying. The big 4 referrednto the period of time between 2008-2016 when all these players made the semi at least of every tournament they entered. Stop this revisionist history.
@@starllama2149 Agree, to me it is big 4 since you would face any 1 of those 4 if you go deep in another major tournament for that entire period
@@Chinguenguenza I like Stan's game much more, but Murray was superior player. 46 titles against 16, 11 GS finals vs 4, ATP Finals, olympic gold medals, world number 1.
@@ChinguenguenzaMurray and Wawrinka are not on the same level. Wawrinka himself admitted this. There’s more to Tennis than just Slams. Murray has 2 Olympic gold and 13 more masters than Wawrinka and also won the ATP Finals. Not to mention reached world no. 1 and year end no. 1. Big 3 are on their own level but Wawrinka is not on Murray’s level.
What a pleasure watching these two old guys play. Just pure pleasure with the sounds only coming from the ball striking and zero insecurities like these new young guys constantly celebrating after every point like they won the lottery or something.
Stanimal mode at 39, awesome 🙌🏻
Stan in great form - Andy with beautiful touch - both great champions ✨️🔥👏
To be dressed that snazzy, he must be feeling pretty good...
Neither of them has lost their touch but in terms of speed they are not equal to the first 5 in the ranking. However, they offer very valuable tennis quality.
Wow... what a beautiful backhand of Wawrinka!
I can watch that backhand all day, beautiful from Wawrinka.
The contradictory desire for both sides to win makes my heart flutter.
The post-match embrace between these two is not just a greeting.
Stan looks buff! If can gain confidence and not get injured... wow. He's playing way different than expected based on recent results. Love it! I'll gladly follow the Stan the Man storyline.
he's actually quite high level for 39. problem is his 1st serve % (not making the serve enough), and returning the opponents 1st serve
@@Baratheon. that. but mostly stand just moves nowhere near as good as he did even 5 years ago, so yeah.
Like Wawrinka's outfit
Yes I do too
The man, the myth, the backhand
The combine age of these two is 76. Blimey.
their combined slam count is 6 in the era of the big 3 is more scary.
I saw the match live, murray was playing great in the first two sets, but stan was playing like 2015 final against Novak. He was simply unplayable. The score doesn't justify the match but it was a pleasure to see both veterans playing so good again.
1:59 that backhand
Stan is the man!!!! 🔥
Stan's ohbh is a thing of grace and beautuy - and a weapon too!!!
Hope Wawrinka can go deep into the draw, at least stay until the second week!
Stan is drawing with that backhand. Surely, one of the most beautiful shots in tenis history 😍
that backhand 🫡👍🤩
When stan the man is on he could beat anybody
Stan the Man! Love that backhand! Great to see him playing so well!
Wawrinka taking this personal, ...Those back hands are nuts, Battle of the legends!
Great way to put it! It definitely was a battle of the legends!
Wawrinka was in the zone. With a backhand winner too.
What a 39-year-old gave of a performance. It's a pleasure to watch him.
Wawrinka backhand is something out of this world
De los pocos que le hicieron competencia al big 3 y les ganaron épicos partidos, incluso finales de Grand Slam. Grandes tenistas y unos caballeros fuera de la cancha.
Stanimal at his peak devoured Djokervic for 2 slam finals
Wawrinka’s backhand 😍 👏 poetry in motion!
Wawrinka is a legendary player. Right off the couch told a friend: “Hold my beer” and off he went to play Roland Garros and play brilliantly well 👏 👏 👏
The only two men to win three majors during the Fed-Nadal-Djoko era...let that sink in!
Stan was telling Andy it's his last RG and it was a pleasure to have shared all these years in the tour with him, alongside something else I couldn't catch.
Stan is the most underrated legendary player of our generation. Even though he won 3 GS in his career, the "Big 3" took the spotlight during his whole career, yet he manage to win big big tournaments against them.
He has [in my opinion] by far, the most elegant and deadly shot I have ever seen in this spot. His backhand is otherworldly and it's an incredible feeling to watch him still doing it like this [he's almost 40...] over and over again. I will miss him and probably remember him forever. I'm sure I will have those times of nostalgia and search for videos of his best shots in the future.
Lastly, even though I understand it's a ranking thing, I find it ridiculous that 1st round has such a match-up with 2 legendary players who won Grand Slams. It's total disrespect in my opinion, and I don't agree with "all players should be treated equally" because not all players are equal. These 2 are legendary players who won GS's. They deserve a "special treatment" at least on the 1st round draw. Maybe one day we will see Novak and Rafa lose a lot in ranking and match up on 1st round of RG? How ridiculous would that be?
Anyways, I feel I somehow owe a thank you for Stan even though he doesn't even know me and just doing what he loves. Great guy and incredible tennis player. That backhand will be remembered for decades 🤲
I agree with almost everything you said in this poignant message! Respect to both great champions, legends in the sport of tennis! I think it’s great to see these great champions battle it out like it’s 2017 again! It’s highly entertaining and it would have been highly unlikely for it to happen in the later rounds in this stage of their careers, as much as I would have loved to seen!
And yes, Wawrinka is in my opinion the best one-handed backhand in tennis history! Such a lethal and effective and beautiful shot!
Everything about this match earned the heart. 🙂
Killer backhand💪
Stan the man, funky clothing, Roland garros. Brings back the memory of 2015. I really hope he goes far in this tournament. Still very exciting to watch. And.... what a backhand
Walwrinka parece sempre esperar por esses back hands mortais, né?! Ele prepara sempre que pode esse golpe, que ele executa muito bem. Ele, Dimitrov e Shapovalov ainda usam bem esse golpe... gosto de ver!!
So wonderful - two ol' greats playing for the love of it. But wow Stan the Man with the BackHan...
Great to see Stan back!!
Great highlights! Caught the magic💫
As always RG gives long extended highlights - I guess we all love that!
😂 was nearly the whole match
Stan settling the age old debate of which 3 time GS winner was the best :)
That's a commanding win, well done Stan.
Woow que lindo es verlos jugar otra vez, mucha historia tiene el tenis en los dos en sus mejores momentos, queda disfrutarlos 😊
Remember stan the only other man aside murray to stop big 3 from winning 3 GS. He peaked really late in his career, only if he played like that early on we would have had may be big 4. In the era of dominance by big 3, he was a breathe of fresh air, mesmerising player!!!
Bravo Stan, bien joué 💪🇨🇭
もう二度と見られないかもしれないレジェンド同士の戦いは、まるで桜を見るかのように儚く美しい
Well said!
Good old times Stan the Man :) Watching them playing I was thinking that it might be nice to have tournaments with retired players. I would surely still watch many of them.
They got the seniors tour for tennis players. Not as popular as the seniors tour for golfers though.
@@garylp3 It'll likely become more popular than the ATP when (if) Fed joins. :D
@@thesoccergod Yea.
so good to see both these legends play against each other likely one last time in a GS!
The 2 Chileans sensation in Rome were eliminated in the first round of RG which shows a Grand Slam is a “completely different animal”. Djokovic tried to explain that many times.
What does your comment have to do with the highlights from these two legends?
@@Maliilse75 My comment has nothing to do with them but I wanted to comment.
Maybe they were tired from their success in Rome?
@@OmegaMouse maybe yes, maybe not
I mean jarry got breadsticked and bagelled by moutet 🤷 so maybe he was tired
One of the best one handed backhand in the history of tennis, Stan the man!
Stan just player incredible
Level actually!!
Stan serving really well today
Two absolute legends playing against each other at a massive GS atmosphere perhaps for the last time
Epic match between this two. Well done!
wawrinka is a beast at baseline
Stan’s one handed backhand is Goated!!
The best single-handed backhand in the business
Stan the man and his beautiful backhand.
Rolling back the years
it looked like 2007 Roland garos match exhibition. Great times!!
At least no spoilers in the very beginning unlike the Alcaraz/Wolf match..
Great game, Stan. 👍
These two old lions have the 4th equal most grand slams over the past 20 years (3 each). Some of the only men capable of challenging the Big 3 on their day.
Great 2024 1st Round matchup .
That backhand is unreal
obviously this is only like 2 and a half minutes of highlights, but the thing that stands out to me is as the player gets older, they find other ways to end points.
more drop shots, more volleying, it is such a pleasure to watch.
Respect Both 🫡
Battle of the veterans, two quality gents and legends!
As Clint Eastwood would say, "in tennis world there are 2 kinds of backhands, the ordinary kind and the Stan kind (reserved only for Stan)!"
Estrellas del tenis, muy admirados, Stan Campeón de RG US open, Andy M. Campeón Wimbledon y Olímpico!
So good to see them still playing at this top level
Stan i missed you man...hope to see you reach far this year's tournament.
good to see wawrinka back with full heavy groudnstrokes -unbeatable
respect for each other👌👏
Que confronto repleto de história
So beautiful!
God damn, I love how Wawrinka can't be bothered to run for some of these shots, bwahahaha! I wanna be like him!
He's smart enough not to waste energy needlessly
If he did, he would be in better shape...
Wawinkra joga demais !❤🇧🇷
Stan the Man! Rolling back the years. Vintage performance.
The Stan-hand :
A thing of beauty, that we will all talk about for a long, long time...
Superb backhand stroke…
Congrats to Wawrinka and bad luck Murray! Thanks for a short but well compiled highlights!!
Two oldies 🎉
My humble request is to please upload the full match please
