- NYMR resident loco GWR 66xx Class No. 6619 spent the summer of 2008 on loan to the Kent and East Sussex Railway. Several drivers, fireman and cleaners from the NYMR accompanied the loco and were able to do a bit of driving and firing along with the regular KESR crews.
The footage contains shots of the locos between Tenterden and Bodiam and a cab ride on 6619.
Very nice video, good to see 6619 and 753 in action!
Great video. Gave the impression of actually being there!
Cannot wait for Robertsbridge connection!
My favourite class of tank locos are the 56xx. Used to see them all over the South Wales valleys when I was a young lad.
Listening to the talk, I'm reminded of listening to my grandmother from Sittingbourne. Daughter of a Thames sailing barge captain. Have a picture of her on the boat, dressed like Mary Poppins. She came to the US about 1900.
Good old BR 6619, class 66xx in steam. Been behind and photographed this locomotive, on a visit to the K&ESR, when 6619 was in steam
I would love to see 6619 at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway after her overhaul
Smashing video, well filmed and skillfully edited - a joy to watch.
Very great video :)
I think the KESR should have more GWR locos👍
That wasn’t a GWR whistle
@@mattdandex sounded like a austerity tank engine whistle
Isn’t four enough? 1638, 6619, 4253 and 5668 are all based at the KESR. We certainly miss 6619 up at the Moors but beggars can’t be choosers.
@@SecondValveSteam oooh yeah 😩😅
@@mattdandex Hopefully the GW locos under restoration will emerge with the correct whistles .No doubt for fun, fair enough, but heritage is heritage. But what a picture!
