    I also want to add to your video that people should ABSOLUTELY consider the class/program sizes at the university you go to. Some people can succeed much better as a big fish in a small pond than as a small fish in a big (but highly rated) pond.

    I've always wanted to study robotics, but then I gave entrance xm to a business school out of curiosity, and got in, and it was the best in the country so I kinda thought- why not go in? (Other people also influenced me but at the end of the day it was my decision.) I'm now struggling horribly trying to keep up with the vibe of the uni. This is true kids. Check the uni's vibe before anything else when applying to it

    2:45 Haha 12000 poeple applied for 1000 spots at waterloo, In India to get into IIT(The best engineering uni's in India) around 600,000-700,000 students apply for 11,000-12,000 spots across India, so you can kinda understand why there are so many engineering students from India, everyone tries their shot in joining the top universities, and unfortunately the remaining cant....

    • @OliverFoote

      I’ve never been to SFU so I can’t say unfortunately, but one thing I will say is McMaster is just far enough away from downtown Hamilton for it to be inconvenient. But I’ve still had fun and enjoy being at McMaster

    Which city is best for living Toronto or Vancouver

    • @OliverFoote
      @OliverFoote  2 роки тому

      Depends who you ask. My girlfriend thinks Toronto is better. Vancover has a larger tech scene I think, there is also better skiing in BC. The landscape in Vancover is a lot nicer. But Toronto has a lot of people, more jobs, less expensive (although not by much), traffic is better in Toronto.

    Heyy there man! Since u wer speaking about working in USA ..... What wud u suggest regarding applying to USA for Masters since I am planning for a permanent settlement?? .... And USA seems to be difficult for that !!

    • @OliverFoote
      @OliverFoote  3 роки тому +1

      USA is difficult for permanent settlement very competitive. I would see if you could enter on a work visa and keep a job and then apply for permanent residence status, at least that is how it works in Canada, I think it’s similar in the US. Look at their immigration website

    • @OliverFoote

      Robotics is more specific. Mechatronics is somewhat broad and you can work with robots within the mechatronics field.

    The college you go to doesn't matter when it comes to studying and getting a degree, it's just the degree you get for employment matters. Because for every college, depending on what you study, all college professors will probably teach the course in a similar way to other college professors

    • @jaslavie

      for me its 90% the people im surrounded by. It's a lot harder to begin startups and foster innovation with a team of people who arent as ambitious or not interested. Trust me, Ive tried finding people at my local public high school and it falls short every time- rarely do i find rare gems who are committed to fully delving into this venture with me.
      So yes, going to a good college is useful mainly for the people you surround yourself with. You get more opportunities to connect with others without taking time out of your day to search

    Hello sir! Can you plss do a step by step guide on how to gain knowledge about mechatronics using only the internet? Provide us free materials to learn from like youtube playlist, online free courses, websites, etc. chronologically from beginner to intermediate or expert. Thank you in advance😍😍

    • @OliverFoote
      @OliverFoote  3 роки тому +2

      Hey, if you want to work for a big company and become a professional engineer, as of right now you’d have to apply to an accredited program. But if you just want general knowledge on the field there are lots of places you could go, if you want to learn software stuff and even stuff about computers and hardware, there’s tons of info online. I’ll definitely think about making a step by step guide, but for now I’d recommend looking at what topics you would learn at a university if you took a degree and then try to find the info online

    Wait? So even though you're engineering students in Canada you all still want to be hired in the United States? As an engineer what makes the U.S. a better option than Canada? I'm just curious.

    • @OliverFoote
      @OliverFoote  3 роки тому +5

      Money. The USD is stronger than the Canadian dollar. Big tech and Wall Street give bigger bonuses and stock options to their employees, meanwhile that’s pretty much non-existent in Canada. Some people go work in the US for like 10 years and then move back here once they’ve made their $$. That being said, I personally don’t want to work in the US because I like Canada too much 😛

      When you get into upper years you do get a lot more lab courses where you do more application of coursework. But if you want to get a job you’ll have to do a lot more work on your own than just the labs you do in class
