I don’t care at all about my breasts being gone. But I can’t stop grieving about the damage to my vaginal tissue and the fact that intercourse feels awful no matter what vaginal moisturisers I use and no matter how gentle my husband is I’m youngish, on Anastrozole and I have to take it and the situation is progressive and irreversible.

And this is not ‘menopause’ like it is for people who aren’t on aromatase inhibitors. Normal menopause involves a gradual decrease of oestrogen, but still having some that the body makes in the fat tissue and liver. There’s no comparison to having it ripped away through chemotherapy and then completely suppressed until the body atrophies and the damage is done. Strategies that may work in menopause don’t work for us and I’m tired of hearing ‘ find another way’ and explore other ways. There’s no help to be found here.
Also, our partners suffer along with us and their sec life is ripped away also. I understand Liz feeling like her husband should divorce her and get on with his life. We’re glad our husbands love us enough to stay but it’s so hard for them also.

Amen Donna! I am tired of hearing those things as well. I had a hysterectomy and none of my doctors recommended any type of hormone therapy and then got BC diagnosis 4 years later. So I actually been struggling sexually since the hysterectomy and then it was worsened by the Letrozole.
It’s so frustrating that I can no longer be a candidate for HRT.
These suggestions I’m hearing are the same things they said back in the 80’s with women who struggled with orgasm. RIP Dr. Ruth! But these suggestions just are doing it for me. 😢
