Funny you brought that up. There's a guy down the street from me with a "lawn business" (all he does is mow) who usually leaves late. Never ever before me. I have a good amount of work in my neighborhood so if im driving by his house theres no signs of life by 8, 9 or sometimes 10 . Thats his only job. sometimes around 2 or 3 if im home ill see him leaving! And the kicker is on SUNDAY MORNING he's out before 8 mowing HIS OWN LAWN.
This year I’m subcontracting cause it was a drought that burned up the grass two years after n the row after the spring rush so I’m working all day it will be a 10-12 hour day seasonal for me I got to get back on track 15-20yards solo and hopefully no drought this year but I’m going to schedule landscaping jobs just in case
So, you're working as a sub for others to make extra money? That's a good idea if you're new and haven't built up a client list yet. Prayers for no drought for sure.
getting up early is great. What if a customer says they don't want you cutting before 10 am because their wife likes to sleep in? I've had this happen in the beginning and it was'nt a big deal but as I grown my schedule I can see how it would be difficult to change times. great video though ambition and getting up early go hand in hand. You need both.
Tip, go left to right with trimmer, rather than walking backwards stepping over your feet. The risk of shooting rocks is less than risk of injury. Tip number two, always mow the least number of turns, up and down on wide lawn = more turns and looks silly. Angled cut/ horizontal cut always more efficient. Good luck sir.
Yeah man last year since I work the night shift I was getting home until 6/7 at night but this year over the winter I been training myself I work night turn during the days I work and on my off days I been training my body to get up at 7/8 am so when the season comes around iam not dragging ass all day and iam not out until late I hated it and I know when I move out I know my girlfriend will be happy with that as well.

I will disagree with u on some things like the wet grass part you should always mow lawn when it’s not super wet if u want to look good for any lawn more
Always brother! Those were just my top 2 things! I have observed where I failed and where I thrived over the last 14 yrs. and wanted to share with others. Definitely need Discipline!!
So you get up at 7 and are done at 3pm. Other than getting up 2 hours early how is that different than working from 9-5? Either perspective is leaving 2 hours on the table. You could fit 2 to 3 more lawns in those 2 hours. As a business owner only getting 8 hours of work a day is something an employee would do. I would bet that 10 hour days would be way more profitable. I'm just saying. Its my opinion. Dont go crazy. Lol
When busy season hits 7-5 is not out of the question but most of my clients don't want to come home to hearing a mower or blower in their yard when they want to spend time with their family. Those 2-3 lawns I could fit in would be impossible to catch up on when the rains come down for days. Don't be upset, just my opinion 🤪✌️
If being done with residential clients by 3:00 is so important then why not fill that extra 2 hours with a commercial account. That way you aren't getting on their nerves. Which you can avoid by scheduling your customers without kids or someone who works till 5pm which is still a lot of people. I'm just saying that being up 2 hours earlier isn't as profitable as handling a customer or 2 more per day. Heck even adding 1 or 2 more per week is more profitable. It's just an observation and opinion. Don't go crazy. Lol
