I have two magnetic mounts (one for each car). they're definitely the best type of holder, mine are suction base and they stick to textured surfaces just fine. No messing about to unmount your phone every time. Just plonk it on then pull it off.
I bought this about a month ago. The suction part worked fine for a while, but fell off yesterday. I'm having trouble sticking it back on, partially because the gummy part is so sticky it pulled off some of the finish on the plastic console where it was mounted. The magnet worked fine for my phone (LG G4), but rather than stick the piece of metal on the outside I put it between the phone and the plastic protective case.
As far as I'm concerned the best mount would be one where I could use it as a sat nave or simple turn it facing forward to use it as a dash cam with unrestricted view for videoing the road. If 1 exists can someone please tell me where I can get 1 please?
From my experience: The Mounts with a suction cup are the worse! Yeah you can easy stick them in the summer but when the winter comes the plastic is getting cold and loose flexibility and sooner or later the Phone comes down! Will try an adhesive next and see how that works...
I'm from New England and I bought one of these mounts last June. This January it was single digits every night and I had zero problems. Mounted to the windshield, not the dash, for what it's worth.
looks like a great idea, and they sell this or a very similar magnetic holder at walmart. my only concern is whether the magnet might adversely affect any of the phone's electronics over time.
just now that the metall blocks the wireless charger from working. It can be done, but it has to be all the way in the down on the cover. But that makes for a somewhat unsteady mounting. I do not know the right solution to this yet...
Magnet is a bad idea along with suction. In my case and others, if you have a wallet case with your cards it will not work or the flop will prevent magnet from working properly. Suctions? Well, we all know those ALWAYS fall after time including moisture or high heat. Best one out there so far is the Spigen Stealth.
I swear some people don't know how to use a little bit of brain power these regarding the reviews who shame the magnetic magic mounts only because they say the magnets are a pain to remove and need long finger nails to own one, so they don't recommend them, lol. A little thinking or problem solving skills and you realize that you can get around not even needing to use the sticky end at all if you place the magnet inside your phone over the battery. The pressure when the backing is snapped will hold the magnet nicely in the middle of your phone or a little piece of scotch tape looped behind the magnet under your phone case is more than good enough to keep it centered. I swear just because the case says to stick it doesn't mean you have to do it. lol
If your phone has a removable battery, the removable battery door would have to be the back of the phone and not a side-door, then there would have to be extra room to fit the magnet which would likely not stay, and if it did stay, if the magnet loses or struggles with the pull on the connection, your back case could fall off if it's a thin plastic and drop your phone into abyss. It would also have to be thin plastic for the magnet to have a chance of working through a non-conductive medium. I've had this brand of car charger when I did have a removable-back phone with a thin plastic, and it simply didn't fit within the housing without having to be taped from the outside. Taping the inside would cause the back to pop off because it would bulge the backing, and the connection was definitely not strong enough to hold my phone through the housing... I didn't expect it to work after trying it normally, but that was a few years ago - maybe they've improved the magnet strength. I don't recognize the mount shapes, just the logo and idea. I ended up throwing that one away. Based on this review, I guess they're alot better now, but I have strong doubt that any safe magnet would work well through even a thin plastic battery door. You'd need something that endangers your fingers when you mount it to get that effect.
Not anymore. Magnetic mental piece blocks the iPhone 8 for wireless charging. The one sucking to the window will make your phone overheated quickly in the summer.
The long magic mount I don't recommend. The neck is held on to the base by a flimsy rubber shim. It loosens up with age and just flops around rendering it useless. It can't be repaired because the base is flimsy plastic.
Does anyone know if these magnets mess with phones? I work with computers and magnets are a definite no-no. I had one computer acting all crazy and then I realized the guy had put a magnet on the side of the box. I thought it was a sticker at first, when I noticed it was a magnet and took it off, no more problems...
+renragged I've been using these for over 2 years and with a ton of devices and have seen zero issues. I've never even heard of anyone having a problem with them in this regard.
+Wingburner surprisingly yes! I almost wasn't going to try it but figured "why not." You do have to kind of mash it in there a little bit before flipping the switch but it holds SOLID.
I don’t like suction cups and most of what is out there is based on suction. Then you add the magnets? that is sure to mess up your phone or GPS electronics. Not good!
Meh, I don't like sticking those magnetic strips on my phone because I use wireless charging a lot. I have a case on my phone and putting this magnetic strip on the case would add even more thickness and thus wireless charging more difficult.
When I see magnet holders I cringe. I hate those little metal plates! When I feel them bulging thru the case or stuck on it like a parasite, I'd rather hold my phone in my lap... There are one handed touch or pull holders which dont need any metal plates thank you very much so I'll be clicking thumbs down twice 😂
What are you doing with one in your bathroom .. tell me why .... you supposed to go into the bathroom to do your business and nothing else like talking on the phone .. doing that is unhygienic . PLEASE DONT DO THIS AGAIN and thank you .
I do like how you started the review. However, you didn't actually test the car mount while driving, going over speed bumps or emergency braking. I look forward to your future reviews...
I use the magic mount pro and drive for Uber and Lyft... after constant use abuse potholes bumps etc... I have to say it is the best mount I’ve ever used and highly recommended it
I've been through the comments below and no one has addressed the fact that you have one in the toilet, well let me change that! "You sir, are a genius and the creator of phone free wiping"
It's a good product but it doesn't serve a dual purpose. If you live in a city with less than smooth roads the magnet isn't strong enough to withstand it from shifting and falling into the floorboards while driving. It also doesn't help if you also live in a state where temperatures reach 100+. The 3M double sided tape melts causing the mount to dismount leaving a sticky mess and your phone knocking over into the floor never to be seen until you pull over to retrieve it.
This is not one that uses double-sided tape, it has a suction cup with a gummy surface on the bottom that holds it down really well. Also, I've never had an issue with the magnet holding and I drive a LOT more than the average person on all kinds of road surfaces.
That sucks, I'm reviewing a new "gravity" mount soon (these companies keep sending me car mounts) It might work for you. Here's my affiliate link for it: amzn.to/2D6XBvV
Should have got the Magic Mount pro, damn. I got the magic mount that sticks directly and stuck it to my dash, but it works and the location is perfect. I also don't think it will mess up the finish on my dash, but I love that the Pro is removable so I can try out other locations. Think I will get that one next.
Had my Scosh for nearly two years now. Perfect, the phone does not move and more importantly totally wobble free. Now phones mainly come with no removable back so I have a case with magnet in and it works perfectly. Good design.

I just took your advice and bought this because I needed an new mount anyway. So far it is great. It holds my Galaxy S6 very well. Thanks for the tip.
+Joe Dougherty awesome!!
You didn't test it while driving to see if the phone stays put. Especially making fast turns and U-turns.
I assure you, this one definitely stays put!
Love this screen name!
I just found this video right after buying the mouth. Good to know I made a good purchase

Curious will the magnet interfere with the battery , reception, wifi etc.?

there are mounts that clip onto your dashboard. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07BF9N55V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The huge problem sticking it to the window or on surface of the car, it will not stay sticking for longer per my experience.
This is a really good mount, I have had others that always seem to come loss after a while but this sticks abs stays

Hi How are u doing , I have a Garmin Dezl 770 , It always moves up & down , How do I get the thing to stay steady without going up & down
I just bought pro clip its a little pricey but worth every penny.
just now that the metall blocks the wireless charger from working. It can be done, but it has to be all the way in the down on the cover. But that makes for a somewhat unsteady mounting. I do not know the right solution to this yet...
when you attach that sticker on the phone, can you remove it easily and attach it lately, or not?
it's hard to re-use the metal plate, but new plates are extremely inexpensive, this 8-pack is only $8.00: amzn.to/2t46DbU
I got the one for the dash with the 3m and it didn’t hold so taking it back tomorrow and getting the dash one with the sticky stuff

The magnet is on the mount, not the phone. Unless you mount your wallet to the dash I see no way it can effect your cards...
Brodit ProClip, baby, just try that mount. 😍
I want to use my phone as a dashcam so do you think the magnet part would let go in a car crash?
+Bob Wareham more than likely yes.
As would your bladder
Rick Shore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What if I don't like to stick a pice of metal to my phone or case (I have 5 cases btw). Any alternative mount's ?
You have one next to the toilet.
I think I might get one of these.
Outstanding! Thx for this post. I just ordered one.

I loved mine, but I totally see what you're talking about
Does it hold whenever u hit a bump?
I’d like to see a test on rough roads. I have a truck and it would be perfect if it don’t fall off
Email me and I'll send you one to test out if you promise to record it.
Driver Log What email should I use. I’ll be glad to try it.
How did this workout?
This guy sounds like Howard Stern lol

they don't mess with cell phones at all from what I've seen. I've been using them for years.
Yes they do
They do effect battery charge and make using Samsung wireless chargers useless
What kind of case was thats!!!!
The Pro sticks well on your Prius' textured dash ?
+Wingburner surprisingly yes! I almost wasn't going to try it but figured "why not." You do have to kind of mash it in there a little bit before flipping the switch but it holds SOLID.
Phone falls out on bummpy roads.
Doesn't the "rare Earth" magnet affect the compass on the phone? Or some other function?
it doesn't. Everything works fine.
What about the compass in the phone?
doesn't effect it whatsoever
I don’t like suction cups and most of what is out there is based on suction. Then you add the magnets? that is sure to mess up your phone or GPS electronics. Not good!
Magnet mounts suck when yur driving they tend to shake and fall off mostly when u have a case on the phone 📱
Spigen stealth I believe
I liked and subscribed your video and going to buy that now 😊
Great mounts.... until you can't use wireless chargers with these metal plates...
Christian Castaño looks great but now my wireless charge is no good...I'll pass on this mount
dont put the metal plate in the midle of your phone
Unfortunately magnets are controversial when it comes to smart phones... Apple says not to use magnets!
The magnet must surely mess up the compass in the phone?
It’s never messed with mine, GPS works flawlessly.
Meh, I don't like sticking those magnetic strips on my phone because I use wireless charging a lot. I have a case on my phone and putting this magnetic strip on the case would add even more thickness and thus wireless charging more difficult.
I can imagine that's a pain!
Yup. 6 Months after your comment I now own the iPhone 8... and it definitely doesn't work with a wireless charger. Frustrating.
how did you remember this in 6 months?
I don't want a magnet on the back of my genuine leather case
So you take your case off, put it on your phone, and put your case back on, should work through the case
If you don't like it... hit twice. I gave you 👍 just because of that last frase 😜
I hit the thumbs up twice
It's cool.
I threw mine and I have to buy again coz its in video
Sorry to say this stocky products doesn't work in Indian weather.

Hello very 👍🌹🥀

hahaha! I was wondering if anyone would catch that! :-D

There's always one.
Having a magnet on my phone is not something i like...so not for me
The magnet is in the mount and doesn't effect your phone at all.
I do like how you started the review. However, you didn't actually test the car mount while driving, going over speed bumps or emergency braking. I look forward to your future reviews...
thanks! I should have done a more thorough review, but I can tell you that it does hold firm over even the biggest bumps.
I use the magic mount pro and drive for Uber and Lyft... after constant use abuse potholes bumps etc... I have to say it is the best mount I’ve ever used and highly recommended it
If you ever want a pronunciation of any word, proper name or otherwise,it's at your fingertips, and it will make your vids seem much more professional.
I've been through the comments below and no one has addressed the fact that you have one in the toilet, well let me change that! "You sir, are a genius and the creator of phone free wiping"
Is this phone holder fit for Mitsubishi Outlander? Subject car board has got fine streaks.
soo, when are they going to make wireless charging version?
That's MY question!
I just ordered one. It comes with the metal piece for wireless charging.
great review, but why is my mount for board keeps falling off it stickers for 5 min then it loosen and fall all over the place
Can you repeat the question? I'm not sure if I'm following you.
It's a good product but it doesn't serve a dual purpose. If you live in a city with less than smooth roads the magnet isn't strong enough to withstand it from shifting and falling into the floorboards while driving. unfortunatelly is not compatible with the elastic band I have installed on the back of my phone, otherwise it would be the best one
That sucks, I'm reviewing a new "gravity" mount soon (these companies keep sending me car mounts) It might work for you. Here's my affiliate link for it: amzn.to/2D6XBvV

Great edit skills 🎬
I have the vent mount in the car and the base with neck for home at the table
Never saw a suction cup phone mount that stands up to a 30 below Minnesota winter..... JUNK.
is this just a big magnet ? Won't that delete files and alter programs ?
Great... just got it from Costco yesterday :))
How do you like it?
You should look at the Oliv Mounts
I will take a look!
Keep that magnet away from the black strip on your ATM cards...
Had my Scosh for nearly two years now. Perfect, the phone does not move and more importantly totally wobble free. Now phones mainly come with no removable back so I have a case with magnet in and it works perfectly. Good design.
ill buy one tomorrow Costco sells them thanks good video
Is using strong magnets doing any damage to damage to the mechanics of the phone?
Finally someone who use Apple Maps thank god
great video...i just want to buy it
Doesn’t work on my dash
will buy this one
Whats its name?
Cool
I don’t believe you can use with any wireless phones like the iphone x or samsung s7 etc due to magnet etc
you're absolutely right. It's frustrating right now and I've been trying to find a convenient solution

On the mount. The metal plate goes on the back of your phone. :)

cool tips thanks man! got to get me one of those!
