You could always adopt Ruben 🤣, great video and props to the editor having all those areas to blur out!
That's a clear variation, the client changed the scope of work requesting that you not use the existing tray after you had installed. The rework wasn't too much since you'd not done the terminations and the route length stayed the same, but was still 2 tradies for x hours.
Much more interesting than EV socket install channels.
You must increase the price, if you don’t and you do other work for them they will use it against yourself. The famous words well you did that last time. You must increase your price, please. Top work young man…
I decided to stick to my original quote, they’re a great long term client and I probably should have communicated better and clearer at the start.
Thanks though Richard!
Yes and if you want more work from them then sometimes you have take one.
@@corymacyou can be kind to them without doing additional work for free. Even 50% of the standard rate will keep things right both ways for the future.
@@corymacno, they should have communicated their wishes and forward plans to you, you should have charged my dear. (I'm allowed, old enough to be your granny🤗)
Cool bit on the light phasing/machinery, never knew that and quite deep knowledge!
It is a problem with wire-wound ballasts that have a 50 Hz output (all they do is limit the current, other than that they pass the mains straight through). Electronic ballasts of all sorts have an output frequency in the kHz range and no longer cause that issue.
I’m fairly sure them panel lights have a sheet of plastic or some material in the middle of the panel (behind the diffuser) and the LEDs are around the edges, when the sheet material bends in the middle it causes a shadow (hence the orange tinge). Easier to see when taken apart. 👍
Top video again, keep them coming🫡
Mad as a box of frogs, but very professional end entertaining! Good work!
I think the cooker isolations were light switches aren’t the worst idea mainly because they’re just very durable so in a facility like this they are harder to break than traditional switches due to how they are inside generally speaking
I’ve seen some electricians decide to absorb change orders without charging to maintain a good relationship with a customer. But I certainly think it should be done very selectively. Otherwise, the kindness can easily be taken advantage of. I’d personally charge for the change order but perhaps at a reduced rate in good faith.
Btw, your quality of work is really encouraging to see. Our industry needs more tradesman who care about what they leave behind at the end of the day.
I definitely think of the big commercial company who has the desire to start a relationship with one particular company. This is probably worth it. Anything residential probably is not worth it.
The dream team. Good stuff Cory & Co.
There is a cheap cream that you can apply on the eyelid and make the itching go away. It numbs and makes healing faster.
I think he enjoys it as a conversation piece to be honest
i loved the sharpie trick
Brilliant video, so funny and just getting better
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, I worked for a company that was engineering/building custom control systems. Rule #1: Once the job is bid and accepted, ANY change results in a positive (net increase) change in the price, even if the change is to reduce the scope of the work.
I’ll take it on the chin this time as they were so kind as to allow me to film. But fair point for sure. Good advice, thanks Bruce
@@corymacnever thought of that, good point....and you have got it on film if you take another job with them and they try it on again...
another great vid - do like the periodic inspection on the back of your shirt Cory
(might have missed some blurring at 19:58 btw)
Can I just come with you on your next job with a bucket of popcorn and a direct line to chesters mic that would be fantastic, I can do something useful too if needed
You lads are onto something good here!! Keep on doing what you do! Watching this i feel somewhat sorry for Jordan, no disrespect to him and his team but your content has a sort of natural flow to it and its showing in the numbers
03:45 That's the face of Cory desperately trying to think of a cool transition to the next segment - I'd give it a 6/10 😂😂😂😂 Hmm. clients, re-quote I'm afraid. Another superb effort by the team of 4 little oinkers!
Seen right through me 😂👍🏼
Love the JCC gear. It looked like you was installing the self test emergency packs . So no fish key switch is needed at all. Unless I've missed something
It’s recommended so fitting could be changed out for other types in the future. Also you still may want especially in some environments to be able to do a test rather than self test because there’s probably insurance companies out there that will want to send someone out once a year to confirm they are all working and then look at, records or have documentation that they test themselves
Cheap panel would be best guess as you’ve proven with moving the diffuser. We fit Philips panels expensive but very uniform light output 🤟 and we put thousands in and I mean thousands! We rip out a lot of the cheaper brands which all have that discolouration.
The original
Install looks suspiciously like the in house FM team have had a crack at it
Just a suggestion, bill them with one line for works as quoted, and then a second line for 'variances from original spec'
Corey my main man fluorescent lighting runs on 50hz . The output of the led driver is high frequency around 30khz so no strobing on the modern tech .
@11:06 - CHESTER!!!! - Deducting more points for stepping on the very top of the ladder!
😂😂😂
Back at it again with the trippy ladder tricks...
@@ChesterStrong-nw8ny Heh :) Naughty....
Love the projects you work on
Glad you like them!
Great hack for hole marking
Job quoted as per customer requirements. Job accepted as per quote. Now a change this is chargeable to them. If it was a small change and not costing a lot of money to do then take it on the chin. However if you’ve ran cables etc as per quote and now change taking a while needs to be charged.
I’ll take it on the chin this time as they were so kind as to allow me to film. But fair point for sure 👍🏼
Make sure it’s written in the terms and conditions of the agreement that if amendments to the original quote extra charges apply.
7:39 well if you have to do extra work you should get extra paid foremost if you done it already and have to do it again, that time needs to get paid, other thing is it if they inform you before you start pulling wires then i would not really extra charge them, if it is the same amount of work but material and such go extra and if you have something special ordered for them which is not to be used because of the change and you can not give it back or use otherwise you have to at least charge them partially for that
Top video, good to see Chester again! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

I’m lost
I wouldn’t be surprised if the customer was also having comms problems. I’ve seen earth leakage cause timing errors and packet loss on networks.
Spot on
Never been a huge fan of Klein but that screwdriver looks cool, do they make one with a 5.5SL and a PZ2 bit?
I would have used Dali for the lights
As always a great vlog. Fun and informative please keep them coming.
Thank you! Will do!!!
Hello its me, Susan Boyle, pleasure to be here.
😂😂
INCREASE PRICE! He's obviously forgot to tell you about the tray initially, so it's on them, not your mistake to take on chin.
I’ll take it on the chin this time as they were so kind as to allow me to film. But fair point for sure 👍🏼
I know the annoyance with the job changing spec halfway through. I will normally charge extra for added time. Depending on how much time ove lost.
The more I work commercial jobs I do, the more I realise how long they take to pay. Domestic jobs tend to pay the same day. Honestly, it makes me not want to work commercially. Constantly waiting for payroll companies.
Has Chester not heard of finger plasters 😁 They're the ones with the thin strips making Giant Us either side, so you stick plaster on finger, then use the thin legs to wrap around the plaster to hold it in place.
We prefer the bush medicine methods
Got to charge for variation when the job changes from what was quoted. Especially mid-job. I worked for this company (your client) many years ago and we’d charge the earth for the smallest variation back then. I doubt it’s any different now.
Those JCC sky tiles are the same casing as the Ansel Panels just without the Panel Pod options. Also if they've changed the spec after it's started to be installed it's a variation order - sucks for domestic customers but for commercial clients it's a tax write-off anyway so it makes no difference to them.
After such a full and complete spec then the client can’t expect anything other than a cost review (never call it an increase as prejudges the outcome) when he changes spec after job has commenced. You can make the point by asking for an updated method statement etc as that’s what history will show was agreed….
Click plugs are great.... Saves isolating all lights to replace 1 light, when you can just unplug.... Great bit of future proofing
We agree!
17:28 Putting lights on a different phase to the motor would just alter the perceived angle of a rotating object that in sync with the lights. The solution is to have smoothing capacitors across the DC output of the LED drivers to the LEDs are flashing like strobes. In practice they all do except the crappiest cheap ones.
Nice video. Kind of disturbing that they worked for so long with lights that make it so you can't see the heavy machinery you are working on.
Haha, true!! They weren’t too bad really. Just now you have the comparison it’s night and day!
And thanks! 🙏🏼
7:36 id add it into the job cory as they told you to use it then decided not to, they changed the rules, they owe you for the wasted time and effort!
great to see your flying at these jobs... and with the help, id say your becoming a bit (ok ok, well beyond a bit x zillion) of a good person to turn to!
Cory what are the little cable tags you use, adds so much class as always ⚡️
Really enjoy watching , you make it interesting with some nuggets of information , + like the Milwaukee M12 Brushless Cordless SDS Drill, and just looking for new tools backpack which one do you have Cory , Thanks Guys. ⚡️👊
Thanks mate! We will keep that in mind! At the moment I use the Veto backpacks
Thanks Cory ⚡️👊
Were they also emergency lights in them
Yes! The ones with the little green indicators are self testing e lights
Thats a stye on your eye. Very painful as you say, Ive had many over the years. Dont squeeze with your sausage fingers. Role your eyelid down & with a sharp needle pop it. Wipe & gently squeeze with tissue for almost instant relief. Probably a good idea to lock yourself in the bathroom while doing this away from animals & kids..
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
How'd you choose to support the cables above the ceiling grid?
+++$ on the job. If that was the original spec then it’s fair game. Deviations are always add ons to the price surely.
If you ever worried about lighting /lasting or surviving electrical abuse ..I would just run it all on 200v packs
@4:59 - CHESTER!!!! Deducting points for not saying "Hi Chester" to Corey..
🤣🤣🤣
Gammy eye 😂😂😂
energize to make or energize to break is the question. emergency lights energize to break obviously great vid lovely job
True! Thanks William! 😄
Good old Artisan Cap.
Mate you know you have more holidays than I do!
It’s a tight contest
When you say earth leakage, could it be transient voltages? Given the types of equipment ie Ac unts, generator, lathes connected.
I should probably mention I've had a few beers so probably talking out my arse 😊
Also definitely charge them, they agreed to the tray,
Great content Cory!
Is it a specific site thing or is it common that cables are run underneath the trays and not on them?
Pretty much whichever works for the site design 😁
Customer should have been upfront about any future changes they had planned, that’s not on you. You should have stated straight away there’s an additional cost for the hours of work and any materials. They would have been expecting it anyway. Lesson learned I guess.
I’ll take it on the chin this time as they were so kind as to allow me to film. But fair point for sure
Can't believe your using twin and earth , thats usually used for domestic applications. Should be nymj or swa on trsy in a commercial or industrial installation.
Great video Cory. I just finished a 3-Phase consumer unit re-location and starting to see the folly in using masking tape to label wires. May I ask how you labelled the wires going into the contactor?
I could be wrong but I believe he uses a Brother label printer so probably some heat shrink tape run through that
12:03 don't you worry son, Carpal Tunnel will get you in few years...😏
Corey
Can you show me how you wired the contactors, I'm confused.
Love your vlogs mate, cheers
Message me on Instagram and I’ll try and explain clearer!
what are the safety indicators on the ceiling tiles for?
They’re to indicate the state and health of the emergency lights
Did you leave the drivers on top of the panel?. My boss has given us new instructions that we have to have the driver up in the air or on the side of the panel, because there has been times when the driver has failed because it's been overheating. Had one a few months ago that started to strobe, then a week later it was back to solid but when I changed the light there was a hole in the side of the driver. But the light still worked. And most weird oart was that there was a smoke detector inside the drop ceiling, almost directly above the driver but it hadn't gone off.
We always go onto the tile next to it 😄👍🏼
Chester & Felix…. Has there ever been a more middle class sparking duo?! There are no plumbers in the world with those names, clearly showing we are the more sophisticated trade
🤣🤣🤣👍🏼
Cory mate you are hilarious. Got a bit of a love-cringe relationship with your sense of humor, but to be fair: so do people with mine. Appreciate the expert insights 👍🏻
😂😂
@26:35 was it successful? can i c? or would it be unlawful promotion of dermatologist work without a license?
Great fit lads, what is the JCC model number ??
I hate wires swaying in the breeze garanteed to poke you in the face or worse the eye.maybe you should have safety glasses on or am I being a wooze? Additions should always be charged for IMO.
Learned a lot...
21.48 I can’t work out the brand for the life of me but I need to know? 😂
If you was told to use the tray and then told after not to, I would bump the price up. The amount of times we're told to do something and then on the day it has magically changed is unreal, they know exactly what they are doing, they want you to do more for the same price... Nah lol
Do those contactors have four fully rated load contacts? The one in your schematic drawing only had three and one auxiliary contact that's usually only rated for a few amps, for things like indicator lights, locking out contactors against each other, etc..
I guess they aren't switching the neutral, so they would only need three contacts.
@@1idd0kun I wouldn't expect them to switch the neutral but I seem to remember noticing four contacts being used instead of three. I might have been tired and confused though, should re-watch the video.
Is there a link for the screwdriver?
Hahhahah, adopt orphans. It's like this in the company I work for in France. My boss takes young apprentices, they are three weeks per month at work, paid 600€/month and he gets 6000 €/year subvention from the state. Move to France!
What was the PF like with all those inductive loads? I hope for their benefit they have proper PF correction on the supplies otherwise theyvare paying through the nose for their utility bill (i meam its RR I half expect them to have soo much cash as to not really care...).
Would a sprawling site have PF correction at like the main incomers (ie where the utility meters are) or would you expect them to be spread around?
I'm not a spark, but as others have said whilst there is a balance between keeping the customer on side for future work and billing for your time, you dont want them contracting to you cause they know they can change the scope of works and you'll just do it (ie abuse your kindness).
I'd probably take this one on the chin, and learn from it, but in your bid work, explicitly write down how you will do the schedule of works, and then as others have said, have a clause or whatever that says the bid is fixed based on the work schedule provided and ANY change will increase the bill (even if reducing the job involved because you still have to factor in the time taken scoping the work, writing how the work will be undertaken etc.. so even if they slash the job in half you still have to re-do all that paperwork as well that takes extra time).
Ultimately, yes you want to build goodwill with the customer to encourage follow-on work, but you equally cant back yourself into a corner of them abusing your goodwill cause I know 'ditching' a client is 100% a risky move that should ideally be avoided if later on down the line they donexqctly that and you can't accept it anymore.
Ie start on the right foot from the outset.
Scope creep. You must raise the issue at least. It's a fine line between not wanting to lose a good customer, but also needing to be seen to have limits.
So is a contactor a relay?
Did SueBo comment?
She’s a regular fan of the channel
Great vid Cory. Has his manky eye cleared up, following your operation?
Not that I know of, his eye is just one big puss hole 😞
@@corymacit's a stye, he needs some antiviral eye cream 😅
Just pop that spot and the pain will go away!
How does the M12 compare to the Bosch 12v stuff?
I’ve not tried the Bosch stuff so I can’t compare, however I find the M12 insanely powerful, I can’t imagine anything else compares
Charge more mate 🤔😎
My ears have been violated 😂😂 that policy needs to be destroyed.
It rings true about running a business, small businesses never talk about all the hours required outside of billable hours
Bonkers...
I think you should take 50+ types who are semi retired and would love to work with some interesting people whilst being flexible with their time… 😮😮😮 and they’ve probably wouldn’t want paying a lot…
😊
Hey, if you're up for trying a relatively a new method that makes the process a whole lot easier, and get a flat strong chest within 30 days or less, just go ahead and go’ogle Baker Henistole.
Don't they have full time electricians there? Wonder why not.
alot of these places have 1 maybe 2 full time maintainers for reactive jobs and breakdowns but for larger jobs upgrades etc they get a contractor in as it cheaper to hire in a contractor 3 to 4 times a year than employ a team of peoole all year if you employ 5 people 40k each thats 200k then factor in tools, transport and other costs looking at 220 to 230k a year if hiring in a contractor 4 times a year at 10k per job massive saving to be made.
Your mate looks like Pee Wee Herman 😂
Does anyone think Cory looks like the PC from Beyond Paridise
Can’t say I see it 🤣🤣🤣
what’s Ted doing nowadays
He followed his family when they moved across countries, he’s currently smashing it working as an apprentice local to him! He is missed
greetings, Just to let you know, you forgot to blur sometimes the customers logo/name and identifying things.
keep up the good work!
Not using the tray is a change order. Fill it out, get the client to sign it and carry on with the work. You're hurting the industry not working this way.
Edge-lit LED panels are the absolute worst piece of garbage! Seen loads in many shops failed over the short span, because panel is made of multiple layer sheets which yellowed over the time, same goes with cheap LED strips on both side. They're 💩💩🤮
Great video but everyday I'm trying to avoid China where JCC skytiles are made! I wonder how long they will last and how they are made. We really need to start ramping up our own production.
I’ve not seen a single fitting that is fully manufactured in the uk. And JCC at least own their own facilities, along with full R&D and huge facilities based here on the south coast
@@corymac Agree, I did get a chance to go to the Prysmian cable factory in Wrexham a couple of years ago and was enlightening to see the production line. There are some other switch and enclosure factories but far too much from China. If the world conflicts starts sanctioning China we will come a cropper with supplies.
weow
Does make you wonder if that was why the original job was done so poorly....awkward and unhelpful customer. Definitely charge for the extra time, plus materials. Not a sparky, but was in sales and the customer always thinks they're right😂🤣😂which they are until they take the piss once too often.😅
Chester, love you man but that's a stye on your eye, it's a viral infection, go see a doctor, you definitely can't squeeze it!.😅
It's actually a bacterial condition, not viral. And most of the time it goes away on its own if you don't touch it. You're totally right he shouldn't squeeze it. It could develop into a much more sever infection if you squeeze it.
@@1idd0kun I stand corrected thank you. 🙏My only defence for my error is memories of a friend who had them regularly are nearly sixty years old! 🫣☺️
