- I am really sorry for the mistake Andy passed away on August 24. On August 23 he fell into a coma and his illness was made public. Only 22 hours later, Hug died following breathing difficulties due to multiple organ failure. RIP

Vor ca. 15 Jahren habe ich nach einer Kyu Prüfung für die Urkunde ein altes Kampfsport Magazin von meinem Trainer bekommen um die Urkunde so sauber heim zu nehmen. Auf dem Titelbild war Andy Hug in Kampfstellung, das Titelbild werde ich nie vergessen,.... R.I.P.

That's why the Japanese loved him! He could pull off complex kicks in such short spaces. He had a spinning back kick to the plant leg "the typhoon" it was NASTY!

I was surprised to learn that Peter Aerts, one of Andy's toughest opponents, was devastated to the point of tears when he learned of Andy's death. I think that says quite a lot about both men.

Andy's fighting style looks like it has been influenced a lot by Korean Karate such as Tang Soo Do as well as boxing. In any case, he was such a powerful and skilled fighter.
