i need help, you see for example the first shape, it is shown as Dm7 arp but when analyzed it is also an FM7add6. so my problem is, how do i make sure that when composing that it will make an FM7add6 sound and not a Dm7 and vice versa
ps. the problem also goes for the 2nd shape
pps. i have analyzed andy james' song angel of darkness that instead of an Am7 context he uses a CM7add6 and this furthers my confusion

Can you play this cleanly without something dampening on your upper neck ? Most of the players I look up to don't use a dampener (live anyhow) and manage to sound clean. I'd really like some pointers on right hand positioning to mute unwanted string noise. Thanks in advance !
