Believe. When I put out my first video reviewing Halo 5's campaign almost 2 years ago, I had no idea these videos would resonate so strongly with people. You've all given me a chance to share my thoughts on this incredible franchise of games in a way I could've only dreamed of. I appreciate your patience and passion for these videos. And so... you have my thanks. For watching them until the end. Hard to believe it's finished...
God, Halo used to be so special. And somehow, despite playing this campaign so many times, I never knew about that chieftain that challenges you 1v1 while the brutes watch! Guess I’m just too trigger happy...
I think we never noticed it because we had no reason to think it would happen. Why would we pass up on an opportunity to shoot some Brutes in the face in the distance...especially when there's a lot of them?
THE ONLY thing you forgot to cover? Is the irony of the Arbiter and his fist line said you did cover 'were it so easy' and it's the LAST thing he says in the game when everyone thinks Chief is dead, 'were it so easy'. This line blew my mind. I know I'm years late and nobody will see this, but it showed his newfound respect for Chief. His rival turned ally, the man who, like many others, made him grow to be what he was. It's beautiful when you really think about it.
Also, I noticed that at the start of Halo 3, Seargent Johnson said "We're not leaving him here." Followed by Master Chief's "Yeah, you're not." The game finishes in the opposite way, with Master Chief saying "I'm getting you out of here." To which Johnson replies "No you're not." The writing in these games is far better than any film I've ever watched, it's a shame most people will never experience it. There's no way I'll have time to watch this video. He probably mentioned it, making me look stupid.
Good points, but it wasn't Newfound respect. The Arbiter and the rest of the Elites called Spartans Demons as an insult with respect. They always recognized the battle prowess of the Spartans. It just wasn't until the Schism when the Elites had their religious zealotry shattered that they came to respect humanity as actual allies.
Let’s not forget how in the level Cortana, the Arbiter is insane enough to go after the Chief in high charity just to help him out and be a pal. Like, the dude literally busts in near the end of the level as if to say, “bro, I’m here for you bro.” Like, if that’s not telling about how far their relationship has come, then I don’t know what is.
Yeah that was so bad ass. Cortana was like: "We have a friendly signature! Who would be crazy enough to come here?" You turn the corner to see your bro Arbiter roasting the flood with a fucking flamethrower.
As much as I want to believe it, I don’t think Chief really sees Arbiter as a friend. Just an ally. Most of his friends are dead. Unless there’s a book or something that acknowledges their relationship. I heard Arbiter considers Chief as a friend, but I heard that was retconned.
The golden era of gaming. Halo CE, Halo 2, COD2, Gears of War 1 & 2, COD4, Sons of Liberty, Scarface: The World is Yours, Oblivion, GTA’s 3D era 2001-2004, and of course the greatest, Halo 3 💚
You forgot to mention that during the part where Johnson and arbiter are walking by each other with the weapons Johnson lifts the carbines up slightly to avoid hitting Arby, a very subtle gesture that speaks volumes of what's happening
In terms of Miranda Keyes saying “ To War,” I love how she says that while going up stairs and cocking her gun, as though she’s going to fight on the frontline, only to come back down the stairs to brief you and stay behind
Ever stop to think that maybe halo is the type of saga to go down in history?? With all the sales and documentation of the 21st century maybe in 2552 people will celebrate halo, just like we still appreciate the works of Shakespeare perhaps halo will be remembered in history. We are so lucky to have experienced the beginning and glory days of the halo saga and I'm sure people will look back and envy us. I like to think *born too late to explore earth, born too early to explore space, born just in time to experience halo 3*
Not gonna lie, this part always bothered me because they are literally waiting for instructions while the covenant are closing in and that's all she has to say... That tells them nothing!
Act Man, I'm only a recent fan, but holy fuck I went back and watched most of your videos, and you make quality content. Never stop doing that, and you will always have a fan base. Myself included.
Let's just ignore the fact he literally survived the explosion of the Halo? And before the explosion begins, he was fighting against a Elite in a face to face battle? Poor Johnson... We all miss him. Tiny stupid robot... 343 is a little backstabber.
@@McKae00 umm, it was just a retcon lol, that was definitely Johnson, it even was his voice actor, hence the joke at the start of Halo 2 about how he made it off the ring. It’s just that the Legendary ending isn’t canon anymore.
@@jalakor You realize a retcon changes the Canon correct? They had no way to explain Johnson getting off so they changed it. Doesnt make him any less badass
“I remember how this war started. What your kind did to mine. I can’t forgive you but, you have my thanks for staying with him till the end. Hard to believe he’s dead.” “Were it so easy.”
I love that line most because he uses it in the opposite sense than he did at the beginning of the game. At first he said that to say that it wouldn't be easy to kill him. But at the end he said it to say that it can't be easy to kill chief.
@@Paperkutchy He came with Johnson so that's why he ended up with chief for most of the campaign even though it's purely circumstance it still is something
@@leomusarra3837 No, it really isn’t it is? That being said, it’s still lots of fun, way more fun than Infinite, if only for the fact it actually has content.
@Industry Burger 2021 I agree 100%, I really enjoyed the game _at first_ then I got incredibly bored with it and uninstalled. If you understand what I’m saying here: Halo Infinite is like a sandwich with no filling, the bread of the game is there, but there’s nothing else to it apart from that.
Johnson: “How ya doin” Arbiter: “RAGGGGH, well you know I’m actually pretty sad man, I just got disowned and shamed in front of my people but ya know. Thanks for asking bud” Is how I wish it went
Dude, the emotions. Thank you, Halo is one of those games that you can't really describe how much it impacts you. But I think you did and thus, thanks a lot Act Man.
Most of us from the generation that grew up with these games are not in a good place right now. This trilogy is the one thing we can all look back to, to remind ourselves that there was a time when something good brought people together. Things were different once. Never has this game and its soundtrack failed to evoke emotions in me. Sometimes ones I forgot I had. Like hope.
Totally agree. And for Halo 3 - that game made me CARE about characters. I didnt expect that and I was truly suprised when I found out I care about them. I went through hell to save Cortana not because the game told me to but because I wanted to save her. To keep a promise. To get her to safety.
I listen to the soundtrack sometimes 50% of it is not great. Like outright terrible. It's bordering on being country and western sometimes - It's not highly mixed in the games so you don't notice and the games doesn't use the crap stuff often - but it's more good moments in mediocre mood music and a few good tracks across the whole franchise - but 50% of it really is pretty bad - even kinda weird and inappropriate like it is from the wrong game or something. When it's good it's very good - but much like Final Fantasy Music - some of it is weird and kinda wrong.
I’ve always loved that final line of Halo 3 by chief: “Wake me, when you need me.” Almost as if to tell the fans that the series may be over, but the game can always be booted back up again. There’s something new to be had in each playthrough. Something real to experience again in this sad, sad era of gaming we are in now. Thx OG bungie.
Yeah! Cortana's line is a stand-in for the fans. "I'll miss you". Chief's response, as you say, is as if to say "it's ok, the games can be replayed, whenever you want".
"Everyone and their mother was excited for its release." Damn straight. My mom took my brother and me with her to GameStop for our first midnight release 'cause she was just as hyped as we were to finish the fight. She even wanted to let us stay up late and skip school the next day so all three of us could play the game together, until my piece of nonsense father slammed down on that because "video games are a waste of time" (joke's on him, though - I'm going into a career of video game design). Man when we got to the end of the game, my mom was in tears over Johnson's death, and proceeded to send him out with a bang in the best way possible - not even in online multiplayer has my mom so thoroughly eradicated the enemy like Death on his Pale Horse stepped out from apocalyptic, dark wings and the shadowy, trumpeted wail of revelations. Act Man, thank you, my dude, for creating such an epic series of videos on Halo that parallel the epicness of the games themselves. Your arguments are always solid and not blinded by nostalgia, and your critique is just as great as your praise. It's rare that I cry at a piece of media, but this video did it for me. I'm excited to see what you'll tackle next. When you're ready, let that notification bell ring. It'll wake us when you need us.
Kallistrata, The Light of Dawn What a great comment! To go with act man's awesome video. I'm just so impressed with Act man's channel but this series is so well crafted.
Halo 3 is the peak, graphics were mind blowing and still stand their ground, story made grown men cry, and forge multiplayer was full of epic game modes and maps
When I first played Halo 3’s campaign, I could never make it Cortana. Not that I couldn’t complete the level or anything, it’s just that the Flood made me shit myself as a kid.
When I played that mission for the first time my friend and I got the shield not bubble shield and put it in a small room and put as many weapons as possible there
Man, if you think that’s being a bitch... I was 8 at the time and I could not get past the armory section on the second mission because the mass amounts of Brutes scared me shitless.
I'm a very young halo player, barely into my teens but I still got to experience the joy of going to a friends and playing halo 3 on splitscreen like yall old-timers did. Makes me feel a part of something
"Shipmaster, they outnumber us 3:1!" "Then it is an even fight." *explosions everywhere as bald eagles screech and it starts raining beer and gunpowder*
28:50 the best part about that is that the moment the cinematic ends after she says "To war" and the gameplay starts, she's just standing there like saying "Did I said that out loud?"
On your topic about how Johnson is a badass even bough routinely getting his ass beat I think that’s what makes him a bad ass because we can’t have a whole bunch of bad ass chief like characters the fact that he keeps taking his licks and getting back up and in the fight is admirable
I don't even care how long each video is, sometimes I even wish they were even longer. Act Man always talks about things I'm interested in, either bringing up points I can agree with, or ones I already do agree with... Or it can be reviews such as this where he also points out things I've never noticed before or considered and sheds new light and perspective on something... Then there's the great quality editing of his videos, entertaining voice overs, funny or great callback sketches, nice sense of humour, respectable attitude towards others with counter opinions... And the music he puts in his videos are awesome. The amount of times he used music either pulled from a game or elsewhere that I haven't heard in years that simultaneously bring back great memories while also helping emphasise parts of the video... Lets say I've gone off a lot to listen to a bunch of soundtracks from games of the past thanks to Act Man's videos. Basically he is just an awesome guy with great videos and I hope he keeps doing his thing.
*you'll never to be able to relive the glory days of havint all your cousins over on a summer weekend and playing games like this and taking turns to see who was the greatest.* God halo has so many great memories. I grew up with it and looking back on it i feel so nostalgic about it all. Playing late summer nights or coming home from school and playing online. I'll miss those days. much like i miss the old good halo
24:46 Johnson and Arby both move the weapons they are carrying out of the others way. It's the little moments like this I adore about this game. They share an equal respect for the other.
I've never seen yet someone that is better at reviewing a game than you. All your likes and dislikes about those games have solid argument. 343 inc should really listen to fan like you or HiddenXperia and people like that for feedback instead of random people. Well that was a mouthfull and i probably sound like a ignorant fanboy, but you get the idea. I think we can all agree that bungie's halo games add more positive fan feedback than those of 343 inc, your review on halo 4 and 5 are a good exemple. Keep up with those videos man, there always worth to watch. PS: Sorry if your eyes are burning with my bad english, im french
Halo 2 and Gears of War 2 are the pinnacle of well written games! Prescott Speech was amazing just like Rtas' speechs in H2. "Soliders of the COG my fellow Gears, go forth and bring back the hope for humanity!" "When we joined the Covenant we swore an oath to the Covenant" Top tier writing
"Were it so easy." is my favorite line of dialogue in the whole Halo franchise, and I have a lot of lines that I love. Arbiter is also my favorite character.
Arbiter is absolutely my favorite Halo character and he also recites my favorite line in the franchise. "Taratrus... The Prophets have betrayed us." The context, culimination, delivery, and weight behind this line makes it unforgettable.
Arby is also my favorite. On top of "were it so easy" being one of my favorite quotes as well, my personal favorite: Truth: I am Truth, the voice of the covenant! Thel: And so, you must be silenced! As well as the best halo meme: "The cable, I'm going to cut it."
This was just a beautifully crafted video, Act Man. Very well done, and I must say you are fair in your few criticisms of this glorious game. And the way you dub in Marty’s songs in your videos is just so perfect. You use those songs very well. Thanks for another masterful video, mate. If you’re ever feeling up for it, I’d love to see you review ODST sometime. “We are dropping into hell, Troopers! Time to grow a pair!”
mathieu bess I don’t think it’s too bad. Especially because it’s one of the most useful ARs we’ve ever had in a Halo game. It’s not nearly as bad as the Halo 2 Classic SMG sound.
I’m currently downloading the master chief collection, since I need to become a true spartan. I failed in not playing the older games except for reach when I was younger and now the servers are gone. I played infinite and got chills I didn’t expect to get. So now I’m going back to the older games regardless of their changes and fixes. And once I’m done with those campaigns, I’ll replay infinite.
@@strangelakers1079 I’m cautiously optimistic. I hope we get something at least on the level of reach but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s worse than 4 and 5. The “10yr plan” doesn’t sound realistic
My God I cried in the very end!!!.... :')I remember how everything started, a critique video of Halo 5... I was starting being your fan and honest follower since that ... And so, you have my thanks... For giving me hope of waiting for a video of yours... hard to believe that It's finished...
Dude you actually made me choke up a bit when you brought up the homages that Halo 3 paid to the previous games. Freakin' love the original trilogy. Also, been watching each of your Halo campaign reviews and they're all so detailed and well explained. Keep doin' what you do :)
Replayed the entire campaign on the master chief collection for pc and gotta say felt good still driving that warthog through the exploding ring and flooring it into the frigate.
i completed that final mission a few days ago. gosh, i may've been the actual worst fucking driver of all time, and i died so many stupid times. but it was still so fucking epic
@@randomcatdude when i played it as a kid i died a lot but now i dont die whatsoever and wish it was a bit more challenging. Im not sure how i even died.
@@strangelakers1079 well yea,but she doesnt get much development with chief until 4. i wouldve liked to see more of a development between them. no doubt it wouldve made halo 4's romance seem less forced.
@@yeaboi587 There are different types of characters. Stoic, round, flat, etc. They don’t always need development unless your story needs them to be developed.
@@strangelakers1079 ofc and at the same time i like that there wasnt a forced romance, but if there was one it would make halo 4 a better game. its just an interesting thing i noted.
I’d just like to say, I still remember the first time I booted up Halo 3, and LET ME TELL YOU. Chills. I still get chills everytime I see that intro to the campaign
The only good thing that I can think of right now with regards to the state of Bungie, is that the current Bungie is NOT the same Halo Bungie we all know and love. It is still a massive tragedy though that Bungie is dying in the way that it is. I wish we could have sent them out with a bang.
This video sparked a late night 3 hour conversation with my close Halo friend where we each reminisced on our favorite Halo memories as kids and what the games meant to us. These videos always remind me how much this franchise means to me and all the treasured memories
The Halo trilogy was mainly about one thing: "Investment in its characters". It's why we're still interested in Master Chief continuing his role in Halo Infinite.
@@owendepascal3577 eh I mean doom is solid but honestly halo puts you more in the atmosphere of the world around you making the gameplay not only fun by brings out the world around you while doom pumps you up into destroying everything that walks
I will never forget those first 4 words from Arbiter in this game. "Were it so easy." Something about that subtle respect of saying that the two of them could not kill each other as easily as Johnson says it, and the way it just leads into the rest of the game much better on the higher difficulties. It's become something I actually quite a lot without realizing it very often
There is your answer - people who like it had friends lists and played the Multi-player - I consider it the second worst as a single player experience to me though ; the enemies are no fun to fight (compared to halo 1 & 2) The Level design is boring and could at times be any game, they took weapons and vehicles away from you and the weapon placement is very very poor. Now Maybe if you had the patience to learn every inch of it and every enemy behaviour and every weapon drop placement. Maybe you might like it more than me. but for me it's only better than halo 4 because halo 4's ending is so poor. If Halo 4 had a better ending i'd likely prefer that over it too as it is I actually like ODST more. (and parts of that game are pretty lousy - due to the darkness - but modern TV's with better contrast help a whole lot with that). But I always felt Halo 3 was unfinished and very disappointing due to the under realised potential, I was really annoyed that they stopped making the single player months before release to add frivolously stuff to multi-player when they could have made The Arbiters tower playable for a start, implements other vehicle types, and fixed he broken weapon placement in the level design. Oh and the music is glitchy too it will play battle themes in the wrong places when there is nothing going on or about to go on - which is also another problem stretches of nothing happening (much like halo 4 has the same problem with). About the only fun I had with this game was driving a Scorpion tank or a Ghost - otherwise I consider it quite flawed. But my perspective is that of someone who was turned off by the terrible matchmaking non-function (as someone who was more prone to play Gears of war) so as a single player game I can see it's simply Unfinished. People with a ample friends list are likely going to have more fun with it that I ever did - I just went back to playing Gears of War 2. Speaking of which I think Halo 3 is still a way better game that GOW3 - that games is terrible - even if I have a modest dislike of Halo 3 due to some of it's features or lack of them - and it's level design issues. But then Halo 2 Has weapon balance issues - and halo 1 has repeated level design. so I can see how some of those issues would annoy others more than they do me so lead them to like Halo 3 more - I however do not. I'd rather re-play Reach.
90 Lancaster You only said the down points not the good points? I think the halo 3 weapons are much better than the other ones like halo 2 doesnt even a assault rifle whats that all about? Also this is not a hate comment its a normal comment that whants to start talking about stuf mmkay
I have to say, this is the best video on your channel, the intro, the way you organized each section, and so many great parts! It’s like you’re saying what every Halo 3 player is thinking! Couldn’t agree more with 343 not taking a chance on cooler grenades in Halo 4 & 5; Halo SPV3 is proof of that! Also I never knew you could challenge that Brute chieftain to a 1 on 1 duel!! That’s awesome I think I will go back and play that mission just to do it, I always just snuck up with camo and flame grenaded him Lmao amazing video man you really out did yourself. I hope I’m still in the running for the shout out contest!
There will never be anything like the hype for Halo 3 ever again. My cousins and I getting together at one house, getting boxes of pizza, containers of mountain dew code red, and spending all weekend, all day and night playing the game. It became such a vital memory for me as a kid. A moment that stuck with me from the campaign was when the Flood make it to Earth for the first time, you can find a marine contemplating suicide because of seeing the horrors of the Flood.
What the fuck happened to Bungie man. I damn near cried when Bungie ended up firing Marty. Then he sued the shit out of them and got literally everything he wanted from the case. Marty got backstabbed by Bungie, and I can't forgive them for that man. Halo was my fucking childhood, and those songs Marty made I still sing in my head to this day. RIP Old Bungie.
Daniel A oh I thought it was due to his openly conservative political points and the Seattle based company wasn't having any of it. I could be wrong though.
I’ve watched these three videos so many times.. and I will never get tired of them. A time machine. Thank you so much for making these. It truly brings back so many happy moments, memories, and emotions.. I always get a little teary eyed when I finish it. These should be included in the library of congress.
I love showing this intro to classic Halo players, ones who lived through the hype and played it day 1. You have no fucking clue how many people I showed, every single 1 btw, knew it was a call back to the badass marketing by 10 seconds in at the latest. You Sir are a genius and I am so glad I clicked the wrong video those years ago that led me to you.
Milo WolfFace The only true classic Halo is Halo Combat Evolved. Fuck Halo 3. Overrated garbage game with the shitty spit ball sounding guns. UGH fuck this game. Halo Combat Evolved was EASILY the BEST!
Johnson is probably able to lift 200-300 Kilos due to his ORION augmentation Master Chief with his armour weigths something between 600-700 kilos, and since Chief was already pressing his left hand against the ground for lifting himself meanwhile giving the right yo Johnson it kinda makes sense how Johnson lifted him
I only get sad nostalgia when watching videos about Halo 3, because I still have such vivid memories of playing it on split screen with my older brother when it first came out. It makes me realise that times will never be the same because of the departure of Split screen from games nowadays and that I will never be able to experience the joy I had when playing it for the first time. Even though I wasn’t very good at the game originally playing it with my brother because I was only 8 at the time, but playing it over and over again to complete everything was something special and something I will never forget, really wish things could stay the same sometimes.
Pretty much the same thing for me, except instead of a brother it was my best friend who lived across the street. Getting home from school, and the first thing we did was start playing Halo 3, every day, for months. Good times, man, good times. Sometimes it makes me sad to realize how little time we have in this life, but then I remember; "Don't be sad it's gone, be happy it happened."
Mauro Dudley right. Nostalgia can stop you in your tracks. Have too much of it, you won’t have new memories forming. That’s how the brain works, or at least a part of it.
Dude, the moment when you reunite with Cortana and she repeats the "two of us in here now, remember" line...if that doesn't get you misty-eyed with catharsis, I don't know what will.
I'm extremely excited to play this again on the MCC for PC, in fact, I feel just as hyped to play it again now, as I was as a kid when it first came out, this game was everything.
You and HiddenXperia are the future of Halo's content creators. You two represent Halo in a way that has never been expressed before. Bravo, man. Bravo.
Just took my buddy through the halo 3 campaign on legendary! It was his first time playing a halo campaign let alone on legendary. The four of us had so much fun we spent the entire day playing the whole campaign. It was nice to feel like a kid again and experience that magical hype and nostalgia in the final warthog run.
What you did there. I saw it. I loved it. One thing though is your argument regarding the change of Truth's character: I think it makes sense. In Halo 2, Truth was a politician in a vast alien empire, and had pawns to work with and the Flood threat was relatively contained: the UNSC's defeat was all but certain. Then the civil war occurs, the empire splits apart, the Swords of Sanghelios unexpectedly team up with the UNSC, making it harder for Truth to crush them. To make matters worse, the Flood take over High Charity and make life hell for everybody involved. At this point, Truth slowly becomes insane as the Gravemind torments him and victory seems further and further from his grasp. He even displays some hints that he knows full well what the Halo Array will do if fired, and he simply doesn't CARE. By the point of the game, Truth has practically lost everything and the Flood are after him. Its not the best explanation for his change in character, but it at least adds some much needed context.
I completely agree. I think the shift in Truths character makes total sense. Yes they changed the voice actor but his new voice actor is just as talented. As for the sermon he gives, yes it sounds like he's become a raving zealot, but really that's just a performance for the sake of appearances. One thing I loved about Halo 3 was the culmination of Truth's character arc that is expanded upon in the novels. He took the name "Truth" for irony, because he knew the truth about humanity (that they were chosen by the forerunners to inherit the mantle, a truth which would destroy the covenant) but chose to lie and hide it for the sake of the covenant. He took the name to remind himself of the terrible burden he carries. In Halo 3 it almost seems like given his position Truth has even convinced himself of his own lies, for the sake of his sanity. After all, after all he has done, the overwhelming guilt would destroy him and the truth would destroy the covenant. In fact I would argue for him to act as conniving as he did in Halo 2 would NOT make sense. Yes he seems more malevolent in Halo 2, but in Halo 3 his character is more nuanced. Also we simply don't see as much of Truth as we did in Halo 2.
I also didn't mind the change in Truth's character. What we saw in Halo 2 was Truth behind the scenes, this fanatical Truth we see in Halo 3 is all an act to keep the covenant together. Not to mention Truth kills Miranda! Who saw that coming?
I like this. Truth has been pushed to the breaking point by the time 3 begins. He no longer is the in control of the hands-down most dominant faction. The Covenant is slipping, the Flood threat is growing rapidly (controlling all of High Charity), and humanity, like a stubborn desert flower, refuses to die. It is driving him mad to see his power and empire crumble around him. Good catch my dude
That's very over dramatic...Halo 3 is nowhere near possessing one of the worst endings, and especially nowhere near the quality of Mass Effect 3. And not every story element has to be written out in plain sight for the viewer. Just because the story doesn't go "TRUTH IS INSANE" doesn't mean it isn't the case: its not fair to assume that the writers can't write subliminal and subtle characterizations for a character that the player must discover for themselves. Sure, I'll agree they probably didn't emphasize it enough, but considering the amount of "screen time" Truth actually gets compared to Halo 2, not to mention we don't have an "inside source" to keep an eye on him half the time, they had very little time to truly emphasize it. The subtle nuances are all we have, and they're enough to paint a picture. It was the same for Mass Effect 3. The Indoctrination Theory existed because there was, and still is, evidence pointing towards it. Whether this was the original intent is a point of contention, but the fact that such evidence even exists (especially in the sheer magnitude that it does) is a testament to both the writers' creative ability and their subtlety. Yet again, comparing Halo to Mass Effect is just unjust, because they're two entirely different genres with two different fanbases expecting different things. So to say that Halo 3's ending is second to Mass Effect 3's in terms of quality is not only odd, but downright inaccurate. And you'd be surprised how fast it takes for somebody to change when placed under enormous pressure. During WWI, soldiers found themselves changed permanently through a combination of PTSD and shellshock, and in some cases, this took only days to take place. So its not entirely unbelievable that Truth's personality would change in a week given the circumstances, especially if he's going insane.
Robert Hesser if you saw the chance to accomplish the singular goal that you have spent your entire life (and many others’ lives) pursuing begin to permanently slip from your grasp, don’t you think you’d be a little on-edge about it? Especially if it’s because of an insatiable evil infectious Flood and an unkillable “Demon” ripping it from you? Your hyperbole has no power here my friend ; )
I remember Halo 3's release. It was my senior year of high school and it was all I could think about right up until the day it came out. I didn't go to the midnight release and I was terrified all day that someone at school would spoil something for me. Still one of my favorite games of all time. Can't get enough of the campaign even to this day.
There was SO. MUCH, HYPE. for this game. I remember my freshman year in high school everyone literally ditched to play when it was released. The BELIEVE ad campaign was just genius and i absolutely loved how REAL they made it. To this day nothing has ever topped my excitement. Even Halo 4, which i actually did love. But Halo 3 was the pinnacle. Still the best piece of the story. I am begging 343 to really bring back the magic. 5 was a colossal let down. Let's BELIEVE again.
Yeah Halo 3 fuck up my first semester in college lol no joke I stopped going to classes to stay and play. Eventually my mom got super pissed at me, and thats why I move out at 19
I know that nobody will see this but I just wanted to get out the sheer amazing emotions that I felt when playing this game I was playing floodgate and I came across the marine that I had passed by earlier as you move through the warehouse and he was just cowering in sheer terror in the corner out of trauma with his dead allies lying all around him When u came across this marine something just made me stop and stare with millions of thoughts rushing through my head. What has he seen? What happened here? Dear God this poor guy. May Jesus save him. And all of that came through like a wave as i stood there and stared I stared and stared for a long while at him just think whether I should kill him out of mercy or not. I mean I had a fully loaded shotgun and it wasn't like he wouldn't welcome death but should I kill him or should he survive and maybe grow to become something else? All of this came to me because of one single npc in one single section of one single level and yet i sat and stared at him and he relived the experience over and over Then I began to think about myself. Maybe just maybe if I had been a better soldier these men wouldn't be dead and maybe just maybe we wouldn't become a husk of himself for the rest of his life. This marine really made me question myself and my own image "am I really as good as I thought?" I can cut down hordes of flood but why does it matter if i can't save anyone Throughout this entire level I never managed to save one marine despite my best efforts in doing so for all of them and it truly made me question my own role in the game Really I just think halo 3 has such a powerful story when you immerse yourself in it and think about every marine that dies is one more that won't be going home is one more that will never see their family again and all of this from an npc in a video game. Maybe I'm just crazy but this is how the game spoke to me
I feel you bro. I remember when playing Halo 2 during the levels where you play as Arbiter. If even one of my little grunt allies would die, I would restart from last checkpoint every single time because I just had to get through the mission with all my homeboys alive. Grunt, jackal, hunter. It didn’t matter. And I would do that same for every marine when playing as Master Chief, too.
I disagree about flood melee. It made the flood more visceral. The puss and fungus ridden deformed bodies to me always looked quite fragile. Plus, it’s so satisfying to watch your enemy fall apart in front of you with one punch
I personally think the Flood is over rated, at the end of the day, they're nothing more than zombies with some intelligence. With that said, I was NOT trilled when I first saw them using weapons.
I like hitting them with the butt of my rifle then being able to destroy their bodies after putting them down. I think it shouldve been that way from the start. But the shotgun in CE was a beast no melee nessesary!
He forgets that your a 7 foot 2 man wrapped in a portable tank who can throw cars like lawn chairs and is roided up in double super soldier serum with nye unbreakable Bones . You should be able to one punch almost anyone .
I remember being able to just go to your recently played with list and fill a customs infection within a minute. such a great community. so many memories. this franchise made me online friends from day 1, i am still playing with a lot of these people today. some gone but not forgotten. love u all

God, Halo used to be so special. And somehow, despite playing this campaign so many times, I never knew about that chieftain that challenges you 1v1 while the brutes watch! Guess I’m just too trigger happy...
Hi
That cheiftan just charged me so I assumed it was just him being him.
This.
I literally jumped up and said, "YOOOO" while my girlfriend gave me a concerned stare. After I showed her we were yoo'ing together.
I think we never noticed it because we had no reason to think it would happen. Why would we pass up on an opportunity to shoot some Brutes in the face in the distance...especially when there's a lot of them?
I Hate Everything huh. Never thought I'd don't you here.
I saw it dude, and yes that moment gave me chills.
He KNOWS his boy don't just die like that.
I saw it :)
Also, I noticed that at the start of Halo 3, Seargent Johnson said "We're not leaving him here." Followed by Master Chief's "Yeah, you're not."
The game finishes in the opposite way, with Master Chief saying "I'm getting you out of here." To which Johnson replies "No you're not."
The writing in these games is far better than any film I've ever watched, it's a shame most people will never experience it.
"They outnumber us 3 to 1!"
"Then it is a fair fight"
Shipmaster is an absolute madlad

Bruh, he's an Elite. Their race (the actual name escapes me) live by an honor code like samurai on their home world.

I’ve always loved that final line of Halo 3 by chief: “Wake me, when you need me.”
Almost as if to tell the fans that the series may be over, but the game can always be booted back up again.

Bungie always knew how to go full circle. I always loved that about the halo games.
Too bad the company's a husk now.
Loved that Halo 3 song though, used to listen to it for giggles.
The only good thing that I can think of right now with regards to the state of Bungie, is that the current Bungie is NOT the same Halo Bungie we all know and love. It is still a massive tragedy though that Bungie is dying in the way that it is. I wish we could have sent them out with a bang.

It's why we're still interested in Master Chief continuing his role in Halo Infinite.

It's also the last thing Arbiter says in H3.
“Wake me...when you need me” but Cortana wants to tell him that she always needs him then just like that chief enters cryo-sleep. Excellent writing
I think Halo 3 is still probably my. Favorite game of all time. I remember spending countless hours with my friends playing it.

A moment that stuck with me from the campaign was when the Flood make it to Earth for the first time, you can find a marine contemplating suicide because of seeing the horrors of the Flood.
No, Act Man, your videos aren't finished. I think we're just getting started. ☺

What the fuck happened to Bungie man. I damn near cried when Bungie ended up firing Marty. Then he sued the shit out of them and got literally everything he wanted from the case. If you get Kids give your halo games to them. But it is your choice. I am not gonna say what you need to do with them.
Including Halo 5?
I only get sad nostalgia when watching videos about Halo 3, because I still have such vivid memories of playing it on split screen with my older brother when it first came out. It makes me realise that times will never be the same because of the departure of Split screen from games nowadays and that I will never be able to experience the joy I had when playing it for the first time. Even though I wasn’t very good at the game originally playing it with my brother because I was only 8 at the time, but playing it over and over again to complete everything was something special and something I will never forget, really wish things could stay the same sometimes.
Does hurt, doesn’t it?
Pretty much the same thing for me, except instead of a brother it was my best friend who lived across the street. Getting home from school, and the first thing we did was start playing Halo 3, every day, for months. Good times, man, good times. @@chrissonofpear3657 I see you with that truth refernce
Why is The act man A Masterpiece

I’ve been waiting for this video! I was stoked when you mentioned it at the beginning of your Battlefront 2 review. Great little teaser.
BuhLakeh I thought Halo 5's multiplayer was pretty good but the story on the other hand there is no defending that shit!

Geoff Rey Nope.

Yeah Halo 3 fuck up my first semester in college lol no joke I stopped going to classes to stay and play. Eventually my mom got super pissed at me, and thats why I move out at 19
I know that nobody will see this but I just wanted to get out the sheer amazing emotions that I felt when playing this game
I was playing floodgate and I came across the marine that I had passed by earlier as you move through the warehouse and he was just cowering in sheer terror in the corner out of trauma with his dead allies lying all around him
When u came across this marine something just made me stop and stare with millions of thoughts rushing through my head. What has he seen? What happened here? Dear God this poor guy. May Jesus save him. And all of that came through like a wave as i stood there and stared
I stared and stared for a long while at him just think whether I should kill him out of mercy or not. I mean I had a fully loaded shotgun and it wasn't like he wouldn't welcome death but should I kill him or should he survive and maybe grow to become something else? All of this came to me because of one single npc in one single section of one single level and yet i sat and stared at him and he relived the experience over and over
Then I began to think about myself. Maybe just maybe if I had been a better soldier these men wouldn't be dead and maybe just maybe we wouldn't become a husk of himself for the rest of his life. This marine really made me question myself and my own image "am I really as good as I thought?" I can cut down hordes of flood but why does it matter if i can't save anyone
Throughout this entire level I never managed to save one marine despite my best efforts in doing so for all of them and it truly made me question my own role in the game
Really I just think halo 3 has such a powerful story when you immerse yourself in it and think about every marine that dies is one more that won't be going home is one more that will never see their family again and all of this from an npc in a video game. Maybe I'm just crazy but this is how the game spoke to me
We hear you fellow Spartan, do not despair
Yeahh!!
I couldn’t do it either... I had to mercy kill him😭
You just wrote an entire essay about your experience playing one level and seeing one thing. You should write a book
I disagree about flood melee. It made the flood more visceral. The puss and fungus ridden deformed bodies to me always looked quite fragile. Plus, it’s so satisfying to watch your enemy fall apart in front of you with one punch
Vito Corleone - Plus, you’re also a spartan. You should be able to explode their corpse with a swift hit.
I personally think the Flood is over rated, at the end of the day, they're nothing more than zombies with some intelligence. With that said, I was NOT trilled when I first saw them using weapons.
@Logan Biehler They ARE overrated and serve their purpose for lore sake but at the end of the day, they're just zombies.
I like hitting them with the butt of my rifle then being able to destroy their bodies after putting them down. I think it shouldve been that way from the start. But the shotgun in CE was a beast no melee nessesary!
He forgets that your a 7 foot 2 man wrapped in a portable tank who can throw cars like lawn chairs and is roided up in double super soldier serum with nye unbreakable
Bones . You should be able to one punch almost anyone .
