    I ended up buying one of these in the A-Spec SH-AWD package and I've enjoyed every second of it. Obviously not the fastest thing in a straight line but the way it feels and handles is so nice and I keep finding any excuse I can to just take it for a spin. The backseat room is definitely tight but I don't need/use it ever and I do wish the transmission was a little more responsive. Overall though I love the car and your review is very on point as well

      @@Sleepyboiwonder I'd say compared to the G2 TSX, this G2 TLX has a just little more leg room, about the same head room, and much more shoulder/hip space.

      I test drove the last TLX and one of the main reasons I rejected it was because the back seat was too small. Scarboy can I ask a serious question: did you consider the RDX or waiting for the new MDX? I look at this the opposite way of people who are sick of SUVs, if the RDX is 85% as good as this car drive-wise, and offers so much more utility, seems to me that would be the better buy and the best of both worlds.

    Test drove one today and I love it. I drove a Tech package. The acceleration was great in my opinion coming from a 2018 TLX Tech package. I will have one in about two weeks. Getting the Tech package as I like the 4 wheel steering and I have a 2019 RDX with all-wheel and don't find it necessary for the sedan given my normal day to day driving, wife drives the RDX. The car looks amazing. Having driven Honda/Acura products for 40 years, I have never had one in the shop for anything other than regular maintenance, and that why I will stick with Acura. I'm also happy that they have decided to compete more directly with Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo with a more performance-oriented vehicle, though the quality is more important to me. Very excited about this car. Your review was on point.

    Great review Matt! I 💯% agree! Get an RDX if you need to haul a family around or if you want a spunky fun reliable family sedan get a 10th gen Accord 2.0 turbo with best in class back seat and trunk space. However, if your lifestyle is back seat optional and you don't want to drag or street race every sports car on the road; a 2021 TLX is reliable comfy fun sexy sedan with premium interior that is more affordable than most luxury brand rivals hands down.

    Honestly, I would take this over any German competitor in this segment just by virtue of it being unique and having more personality. A G70 3.3T or a Stinger GT might be tempting compared to this for their extra power, and a Giulia might offer even more zest in the driving experience than this does, but this is easily in my top 3 for this segment. Wipes the floor with the IS and the Q50.

      So it's bigger, heavier, slower, FWD-based, horrible mpg, has a slow-ass transmission, and has a smaller back seat, and a smaller trunk than a 3 Series -- and you would still this?

    • @IReahpZz
      @IReahpZz 3 роки тому +3

      @@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow so if you don't know it's rwd bias under power, is not better handling and is completely numb. A 330 maybe be slightly quicker. But then the comparison of the g70 and stinger come in and the 3 series loses yet again 😂 they've lost there way and need to go back to making fun to drive cars because as of right now the non m cars all suck and the new m cars aren't worth the price over real sports cars

    • @TheBreakfastLover
      @TheBreakfastLover 3 роки тому +7

      @@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow the TLX has more total leg & shoulder room, and larger trunk space than a 3-series. It's much bigger in width, sits lower, and it looks waaaaaay better because of it. The TLX's 5-60 time is only 0.1 seconds slower than the 330i xDrive, which is impressive for the TLX considering it's about 300lbs heavier.

    • @SBM200612
      @SBM200612 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheBreakfastLover This is funny. Sounds like being 300 pounds heavier is something good. BTW in the real world (not the one paid by Acura) performance wise BMW 330 will destroy this car and M340 will destroy the upcoming type-S.

    • @TheBreakfastLover
      @TheBreakfastLover 3 роки тому +5

      @@SBM200612 nah, 300 lbs is definitely a disadvantage. But even with that, the TLX is only 0.1s slower 5-60. And spec a 330i with the same options, and it's a good $10k more expensive.

    I completely agree with the statement that the Honda/Acura does more with the tire it has than does the G70. I have both G70 and 2012 Accord. Put the Pilot Sport 4 on the Accord, and it handles as well if not BETTER than the G70 with the same tires. Put Goodyear Comfortred on both, and the Accord feels stable and will work with it to the limit, but the G70 will wallow all over the highway at 70mph, scary! Honda knows what they are doing with wringing the most out of FWD-based platform. The G70 is flawless with the Pilot Sport 4 but does not seem to tolerate lesser tires.

    The car does look better than before, but the side profile is really goofy because of that long front section. They did that to try and hide the fact that it's still a FWD based car, to make it look RWD. Well they failed at that. It came out really goofy looking. Come on Matt, i could can remind you and all these UA-camrs making car videos that us Honda products customers don't buy based on reviews, rather the people looking without being loyal to a brand might. And vast majority of buyers don't drive there vehicles like that looking for a quick thriller before moving to the next car like going to the mall to pick up really hot girls and then critical of them for not knowing how to Cook a good meal, or is not a doctor...but rather, Acura products and Honda products are like your wife, the more you took your time to get to know her to more you love her and she can do so much more than just look pretty and she is... Want a TypeS, but CA gas is $6/gal. You find LKAS useful? I agree the ACC is beautiful on my Civic, but LKAS is worse than useless: it rarely sees road edges and often deactivates, even while in the speeds it should be on. So you Can't use it and trust the sensors.
    Honda needs to include the Advance tech on the TypeS. Why is the top car missing all the sensor & suspension goodies? H needs to buy the magnetic shocksnfrom GM and add cylinder deactivation for Eco modes. This car is thirsty enough.
    Tesla's Autopilot is THE best, but the Honda ACC is quite good. Love it in stop & go. Far better than my Camry, where it Won't function below 26mph.

    Honestly, I'd REALLY be interested in it if the infotainment was like Mazda's and the real kicker, if a 6 speed manual from the Accord was available.

    One can get a Genesis G70 3.3T Advanced for $40k OTD new with negotiation. The vehicle might be slightly smaller but I would argue the powertrain and handling are going to be superior to the TLX. For Acura you're paying $50k for a turbo 4 banger. I would imagine the TLX Type S with a turbo 6 would be a better comparison to the 2022 G70 refresh that is to come which is getting the 3.5TT 400hp/400 lb tq. But I imagine the Type S will be $60k while the G70 refresh will be $50k.

    In a world of increasingly ugly cars, Acura has made something tastefully beautiful. Thank You Acura for not joining the herd and keeping the 4 door sedan alive and well. The grille looks like it even got smaller which is a step in the right direction with all the other manufacturers making them bigger and bigger. Well done.

      It could be faster, but it also might struggle to put down power. The Accord 2.0T is already a bit of a burnout machine haha.

    The Genesis G70 3.3L twin turbo has a much bigger engine, almost +100hp/+100lb torque than Acura TLX 2.0L turbo. Hence, it needs better tires to avoid wheel slip.

    Type S will not be loaded. They ruined the trim options. So Type S is a stripped down version of this based on lower equipped A-Spec. So sad

      Dude I know I was pissed but I have hope. Now I’m thinking the type s will have various packages because it says pricing for it starts low 50k so maybe you can option it up. If not then very lame.

    It looks nice, but the interior is way too busy for my taste. I much prefer the simplicity of the Mazda 6 or even the new kia K5. Also, I am underwhelmed by the 4cyl's performance, which is obviously hampered by the weight of the car.
