- Queen Elizabeth's coffin was lowered into a vault at Windsor Castle, her final resting place, on Monday (Sept 19) after a day of inimitable pageantry that drew world leaders to her funeral and huge crowds to the streets to say farewell to a revered monarch.
Hundreds of thousands of well-wishers lined the route her hearse took from London, throwing flowers, cheering and clapping as it passed from the city to the English countryside that she so loved much.
Many more had crammed into the capital to witness the procession and funeral, in a moving tribute to Britain's longest-serving monarch who won global respect during 70 years on the throne.
Inside the majestic Westminster Abbey where the funeral was held, some 500 presidents, prime ministers, foreign royal family members and dignitaries, including Joe Biden of the United States, were among the 2,000 congregation.
Later the attention switched to St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, where some 800 guests attended a committal service ahead of her burial.
As the congregation sang the national anthem, King Charles appeared to be fighting back tears.
Later in the evening, in a private family service, the coffin of Elizabeth and her husband of more than seven decades, Prince Philip, who died last year aged 99, will be buried together in the same chapel where her parents and sister, Princess Margaret, also rest.

My brother was one of the pallbearers, he is the first man on the left hand side at 00:24. He is very proud to have lifted the coffin of her Majesty! Long Live The King.

This funeral will go down in history, a truly sad and historical day for England and the rest of the world. Everything was just incredible, precision and timing and just the tradition that will cherish with me for a lifetime, even if you’re not a royalist or not a fan of the Queen or royal family, this is just something you simply can’t stay nonchalant towards.

It must have been so incredibly hard, mourning while thousands of people are watching you, interpreting every expression of your face, waiting for tears. If you cry you are weak, if you cry not you are cold.... All this stupid things. I will never forget the picture of Prince Charles standing behind his father's coffin and crying. They lost their parents within 15 months. And Queen Elizabeths children and grandchildren did a fantastic job the last 11 days. But the hardest times are yet to come. Now it is time for them to realize what had happened, time to grief and to face the reality. Wishing them all the best!

I lost my mummy to cancer on 09-03-2016..I had to be committed to the hospital for 4 days to make sure I wasn't going to go off the deep end...when you lose your mom you lose your world!!! I miss my mum!!! All I have are her ashes!!!

It’s the quiet times after the funeral is when you miss your departed loved one the most, so important to grieve their absence in your life to carry on once again.
It’s painful to lose an elderly parent when you’re in middle age. I cannot imaging what losing a parent as a child must be like.

The moment the coffin was lowered is the most sorrowful time for King Charles because it's the last and final time before he's separated with his mother forever (no return).
It reminds me when my own mother passed away. Death sorrow is an emotional of its own nature.
The fanting pipe also intensifies the emotion. The final song is also very emotional even for me who is not British, let alone those who lost their mother.
