Thanks as ever Phil Yes grey is a better match and far more practical than the original Swift beige. Good choice ! But it's a pity that if the originals stank that Stewart Longton didn't contribute towards their replacement. Our Freedom Jetstream came with practical vinyl. We bought a similar bound grey runner to yours from our local carpet shop in Handforth, Cheshire for £20 ! 👍
Hi Martin. It would have been nice for the Dealer to contribute but that was never going to happen. Our van has vinyl flooring but it is a little cold during Spring & Autumn. The carpets we got have worked well and are still use today. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Hi Phil, could you follow up with this after a few outings please. I'm particularly interested in how the rubber backing fairs after a few good uses, if it scratches or marks the lino flooring and if it keeps the carpet in place. One of my pet hates is the carpet always moving around. Also can you follow up on how good they are for cleaning etc. As you know we store our van in a storage compound so have no access to mains electric - hence why we rely on cordless vacuums, even with a so called "top end" Dyson, our carpets never clean that well. - it may be different in the new caravan, but i hold little hope. Also, i did notice a foul smell in a Swift I recently reviewed, I wonder if that was down to the carpets? hmmm... might have to investigate this further. Take care Dan
Thanks Dan I will follow this film up. We have a few Autumn trips planned so will report back to all. I agree re cordless vacs. We use one too. I am back at the van next week and will be cleaning the carpets so will keep all updated. Phil
We recently bought a 2019 swift it's a dealers special so didnt comewith standard beige but a very attractive grey to go with the upholstery. I can honestly say that there was and still is a new carpet smell but certainly not a bad smell from them even though we had the heating on very high during a recent trip when it got very cold.
Hi Andy. If you take a pallet knife and fit under the carpet of the mat and carefully lift. Make sure you do not damage the plastic frame. It should lift out. Hope this helps. Thanks Phil👍🙂
What a brilliant job Phil. We have replaced ours in the past. It really freshens up a tired van but in your case the colour match looks perfect to me and the thicker carpet gives that feel of luxury. Well done, nice video. I would have done the same 👍🏻🙂
Hi there. Thanks for watching. The carpets cost me £100. The Company do ask that you make paper templates of your original carpets and send them on. I am putting ours back in the van this week ready for our next trip. They have really stood up well especially when Alfie is with us. They are easy to keep clean and hoover really good. Thanks again and hope this helps. Phil👍😀
Welcome home 😀hope you had a great time , cant remember if our matts were smelly or not must have been a no or otherwise I would have known , company look to have done a really good job on the cutting to size and the colour looks nice to
Hi Phil and Juliet, fortunately we've not had the same problem problem with our Swift carpets (yet) l must admit I prefer the new ones the colour is a great match to the rest of the interior, great video as always. Cheers Jon and Karen
Hi Martin. Thanks. They do look really nice and they are quite warm as well. We will test them out soon when the colder nights draw in. Thanks again Phil and Juliet😀😀
The grey looks really smart, great choice. It is wrong that you weren’t offered at least a contribution towards the new ones, v poor customer service especially as the glue was admitted as the cause but we buyers just seem to put up with with manufacturers not caring but absolutely agree with you though giving the timing I’m sure I and many others would have done exactly the same - swallow the cost and just got on with enjoying our time away not raising own own stress levels chasing manufacturers :) shame these faults don’t crop up when we’ve all got more time to actually follow through on our complaints!!! Thanks for sharing.
Retro Hello. They cost me £100. The Company charge by the square metre. Check out my recent update video if haven’t already. I have added further comment. Hope this helps. Phil 👍😀
Brilliant idea Phil. We have not had smell isdues with our Buccaneer ones through the summer (we did take them and stored them under the bed). What we do have is sliding carpets! No anti slip stuff underneath. I was going to use easy remove double sided tape but your find seems perfect. Will have to show Tina. Do you mind giving me a ball park figure?
That's really good value. I certainly wouldn't have got into a fight with Swift over that. Of course, when I next bought a caravan I might not be rushing back to Swift :-)
Hi Phil and Juliet, oh that's so disappointing about your carpets. Have to say I'm really surprised that Swift didn't offer to replace straight away, after all you did buy a brand new van from them. However, I'm very impressed with the new ones. Think the colour is perfect for you caravan and they look very plush and luxurious! Think it was a blessing in disguise! Hope you had a lovely trip away :). All the best, Janice & Paul
HI J&P. Hope you are well. They are better and yes a blessing in disguise is a great way to put it. A little Jet lagged but ok and we had a wonderful time. We went to some lovely places, but more to follow. P&J
Yes, all fine this end thanks. Hoping for one more weekend away before the end of the season. Glad you had a great trip away and enjoyed seeing your family :). Catch you later... J&P
Nice wee vlog Phil 👍🏻👍🏻. I bet u we’re pulling ur hair out chasing that smell. Last thing u would suspect in a new van. Easy to blame Juliet’s feet lol. Defo keep them in mind if ever need mine replacing. I’ve covered mine in sticky carpet protector from tool station, keeps them protected with 2 kids and a dog lol. Good vlog 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Thanks Dude. It was a pain but turned ok in the end. I have not heard of the carpet protector from Tool Station. Could you send me a link to it. Cheers Phil.
I can't really express how bad they smelt. The new ones are really great will not use them in summer, I yourself we prefer the bare floor. Back home and very jet lagged. P&J
i would have made the company who supplied the caravan to pay the cost .i have just purchased a swift sprite super major so hopefully the problem is fixed
Hi We did consider this but they claimed there was nothing wrong with them. We had just got the van and didn't want the grief of it all to spoil our experience. Thanks for watching. Phil👍🙂
Not a good advert for Swift in my opinion, I think the manufacturer should have replaced them without question. The carpets in my Swift are coming up to ten years old. The pile is a bit flat but otherwise they’re completely serviceable.
Hi Colin you are quite right. I have to be honest I didn't pursue the matter as I didn't want the hassle and it spoiling our summer. I am glad yours are still in fine order. I guess you are like me and keep your van very clean and tidy 👍. Thanks Phil
Like the information you provided. One question: you said "to be honest with you" many, many times throughout this video. Because I am an American - usually when people use that here - it means they are usually lying &/or being dishonest with you. What does that mean to your people? I enjoy your videos and am simply trying to understand & learn. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I tend to say "umm" a lot in my video. It's just being human, and not a professional video maker - just picking up your camera and helping people out with advice and information. I had no idea people who make carpets for cars would do caravan ones. Of course it's obvious when someone tells you..
Thanks Barbara. Thanks for your comment. To answer your question. This is part of my local accent and the way I speak. I will have to re think the way I explain myself. I will not come on UA-cam and tell lies as you can easily be found out. But thanks for letting me know. Phil. I hope you are well.
Caravan Vlogger Thanks we all have ours little ways of speaking. I do understand where Barbara is coming from. Just spent 2 weeks in the USA. Had to alter how I spoke as I was not really understood as my accent is quite broad. I am glad she mentioned this to me and the comments section is helpful to learn from. Like you say we are not Pros at this. Thanks Phil.
Well we do use the word “fanny” so differently in the UK to the US....🤣🤣 so it would be easier to learn the lingo! Lol.. made me chuckle...a must be honest 😆
Another fantastic video as were looking to replace our carpets! You told me how good the whale pump was, and 100% solved our spluttering water problem.. 👍🏻💦💦 thanks again x
Hi Amanda Thank you so much for your support re other comments. It means a lot. As I know you know i have no hidden agenda or any Sponsorship. I just put out films of things I buy or I think other Caravaners maybe interested in. Thanks Phil.
I see where you're coming from. As you say, you just want to enjoy your caravan, not argue with a manufacturer for months and months. I really like the grey and they are a lot plusher. Why don't caravan manufactures use them anyway. especially with rubber backs to stop them slipping. Caravan companies need to learn more from their automotive counterparts...
I think they could learn from them but as we all know it comes down to cost. It is cheaper to use the same carpets for all there caravans. Thanks Phil.
Hi Phil, surely the manufacturer or dealership should have just replaced the carpets straight away or even contributed to the cost of the purpose made ones by Car Essentials of Blackrod? I know you are pretty fond of Stuart Longton Caravans and spend a lot of time up there but that shouldn't detract from their responsibilities ..But IMO Caravan manufacturers and dealerships get away with far too much anyway. Separately, the new grey carpets do look pukka though !!
Hi Lee you are quite correct. I didn't push the matter as I didn't to spoil my Summer. They are really nice under feet. Juliet is happy so I am too. Phil
The more you say "to be honest" and the more you protest about "kick backs" makes me less comfortable with your channel. The lady doth protest too much, methinks I cannot fathom why anyone would dip their hand in there pocket to resolve an obvious and admitted fault in their van. This v-log is sponsored by stealth, like your protech v-log too. youve lost a supporter.
I think that's a bit unfair. Most people are giving honest opinions about products, not selling them. Some do of course, which is why some people state that they're not sponsored. I think that's right and proper. I did a video where I washed the caravan, yeah really! In it I used a product which I bought and felt it necessary to tell people it wasn't an advert, and I'd paid for it, as I was saying how good it was. I'm not a journalist, I'm just a caravaner as are a great many caravan you tubers..There's no stealth Amazon affiliate links...
You may think so but I do use this a lot but it's a way to express myself. I don't send false gods. I will have to stop this so I don't annoy you all. Phil.
lost weekends caravan Phil! Don’t be put off by one persons pathetic posts! I personally (as a fellow caravaner) find your vlogs so helpful as I stated previously! Don’t give haters your time, they do it on all channels not just yours! Ignore them! They’ll hide behind their screen and bogg off! 🤬 your doing great! X
Thanks as ever
Phil

It wasn't the Thetford was it ? 😱
Any idea how you remove the swift door mat please ???
Hi Andy. If you take a pallet knife and fit under the carpet of the mat and carefully lift. Make sure you do not damage the plastic frame. It should lift out. Hope this helps. Thanks Phil👍🙂
@@lostweekendscaravan Cheers, can the plastic be removed ??? I live in my Swift.
@@mrwilliams.65 I think once the mat is removed there a few screws to remove then it should come free
@lost weekends caravan thank you and I've subscribed to your channel

Hi Phil. Go on tool station website and type in 57058 in the search banner. Don’t get it from screwfix as it’s got writing on it.
