Many years ago we had some carpets made for an old secondhand caravan that was tired and smelly. The previous owners had pets and were smokers. Along with a detailed valet of the furniture, the carpets transformed the freshness and appearance of the caravan. Thanks for sharing your techniques for producing the templates and choosing the carpet type. It’s great advice and offers really good value for money. 👍🏻💙 Trev n Sue
Hi Trev n Sue. We had new smelly carpets when bought the Caravan its not pleasant. I just thought the carpets were a poor design layout and thought I could do better. You never know Swift might watch🤔😂. Thanks for watching. Phil🙂👍
Hi Phil. Wow!!!! Love the new carpets. Wished I'd seen yours before we had ours remade 😢 it males perfect sense 👌 thanks for sharing Phil. Cheers Paul and Sarah
Hi Paul & Sarah. Thanks I am really pleased with them. It just makes sense really. Steve did a great job. Like yours they just need to flatten down. Away soon so will be testing them out. Thanks for watching Phil🙂👍
HI Martin. I think it just makes more sense than how Swift set it out. I doubt Swift will ever watch this video. All we can do it put out videos to help Caravanners out rather than appease the Manufacturers. Swift haven't even moved on from beige carpets yet. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Hi Phil, What you have done, makes sense, what Swift was thinking , I don't know. We are lucky, the carpets in our Bailey are per area, lounge, kitchen bedroom and shower room. Great video ATB Mark & Coral
Can’t believe it’s 5 years since you got your new carpets. Our dinning room carpet got written off when a “tradesperson “ cut a 1 metre slit in it with a Staley knife, cutting you’ve guessed it, carpet protector! The carpet was only a few months old and matched the caravan shade. I used the original Swift carpet to make replacements from the damaged dinning room carpet . Your carpets look great. 😁👍
Quite labour intensive making those templates Phil but worth it and a good job done 👍. New carpets always feel nice under foot don’t they and these look the part. Cheers, Rob 😀
HI Tony. I would say no as it doesn't a glue like backing like the Swift ones do. Steve used a good quality carpet. We are away soon so will be testing them out. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Great video thanks, I purchased a 2012 Swift without the original removable carpets therefore I'm going to need to make a template from scratch to take to my local carpet binding company. Any tips please?
Hi Mark. As in the video. I would make paper templates slightly over sized and lay them in the van and cut to shape. Don't use over thick carpet or foam backed. The Lounge area make as one piece, then bedroom area. It is up to you re the Kitchen & bathroom. I personally would not bother as the carpet soaks up moisture. Hope this helps. Phil👍🙂
Hi Phil, can I ask do we loose or gain a few millimeters after the carpet pieces have been binded in the machine? The reason I ask is the carpet man has just cut the 7 carpet pieces/mats from the templates I made and the pieces almost kiss together with some having a few millimeter gap between each one and some just about touching the caravans fixtures etc? Thanks.
@@markweatherall7437 hi. Mark in theory it should be the same size. However if the tape is pulled tight when sewn you may loose a few millimetres. Hope this helps cheers Phil 👍🙂
@@lostweekendscaravanThanks Phil I appreciate your comment, I'm more pleased about loosing a couple of mm rather than gaining a few mm after they gone through binding machine. The thing I was concerned about is if they were slightly bigger then the carpet pieces would slightly lift up a bit, I'd rather them be slightly smaller than bigger.
Hi. Every video I do is a Promo whether I purchase or not. As soon as I stand in front of an object and press record is it a form of Promo. If you have a long look at my Channel in more detail you will realise that I champion UK Companies. I feel that if we do not promote UK Companies they will die and this will increase Unemployment. So really life is one big Promo when making YT videos. I hope this explains how my Channel works. Phil

Fascinating. Thank you.
Leaving the kitchen clear and just with vinyl makes so much sense - wonder quite what Swift are thinking ?

Great advice as always. We take the carpets out and store then they go back in when we sell the van.
Hi David. We like to use them but not in the bathroom or kitchen. I bet yours look like new. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Colin. You can't make that up😂. Domestic carpet is better than the glue backed caravan ones. I be t yours look just as nice. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Rob. Yes it was quite a task. They do feel nice under feet. Testing them out from tomorrow. Thanks for watching Phil👍🙂
Nice one for this vlog only down road bolton for me definitely going to use them £150 is a fair price
Hi. Steve did a great job. Mention me when you go. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Hi Phil, brilliant vlog, does the carpet backing leave any white powder? This has been an issue with our major 4 sb since almost new.
Regards Tony
