@@SubjectiveFunny well I would suggest, we shouldn't just give government new sweeping powers when we have perfectly adequate ones already available, and we should start being honest about what demographics are the majority offenders so we can have things such as stop and search on likely suspects without cries of racism and nonsense like that. When I was a teenager I used to get stopped and searched on a regular basis because I looked dodgy and associated with some dodgy people. We need to admit it is not little old white ladies using knives in London, but perhaps young men of certain demographics who are orders of magnitude more likely to be committing these offences. Much like the fact in London machete attacks, acid attacks, the street thefts using mopeds are a fairly recent addition to the capital city that seems to have coincided with demographic change. Until we can openly talk about things, then true reasons and solutions will be unattainable. Although it does give government more excuses to impose more laws that will almost certainly be used on people not commiting crimes!
16 yr old Ben Kinsella was stabbed to death in 2008, by three individuals, for no reason other than wrong place, wrong time. His sister Brooke started a massive campaign to remove knives. The government at the time, pledged to get tough on anyone caught carrying a knife or weapon, as in jail time. Yet here we are in the middle of an epidemic of knife crime.
Pretty sure it is already illegal to threaten / stab anyone with a bladed article or anything else for that matter. The issue is enforcement of existing laws (stop and search) and the lack thereof. The banning of inanimate objects is a red herring to make it appear as if something is being done. What should be happening is more officers patrolling and searching individuals to prevent knife crime.
We have knife laws . What's the problem. And does the government not understand. That the little darlings will just grab mummy's carving knife . Sweet Jesus.
Government is well aware however don't want to upset certain cohorts of individuals so won't utilise sufficient means to curb this problem. Legislation already exists to stop and search under certain conditions. They want to be seen to be doing something ergo....let's ban zombie knives and machetes. Won't make a jot of difference. This Government worse than useless. Operational policing methods would reduce these types of crime but they just don't want to do that.
There hasn't been single case in human history, where a knife has attacked or killed anyone. Only people have done that, using a knife as a weapon. It is already an offence in the UK to carry a blade over a certain length. Can you imagine a potential killer not carrying a knife because it is now against the law? All this talk about knives is just a deflection from talking about the nature of the people who are killing people. Targeted stop-&-search is the only way to tackle this, then stiff sentences applied, with no get-out-of-jail-free cards for mental health.
They don’t need to ban the knives, they need to ban the morons using them as weapons!! Problem solved!! Note to politicians, it’s people who are the baddies not kitchen utensils!!
Why not straight away, why not use common sense and think with all the knife crime (let's think about banning them) and how is the ban on XL bullies ? Still zero authorities that have come forward to say they can actually enforce any of this. FFS WAKE UP
Not enough the police all need to stop being politically correct and woke and get on with enforcing the law in an inpartial way then and only then will public trust. Begin to rise again
What people dont think abt is what if the people got other people from there surrounding areas after them with knives how are they supposed to protect themselves the laws need to change to get some sort of legal self defence that isnt your fists
maybe stop it at the source.. close the borders
Not enough. The kids in London have been carrying them for years.
@@SubjectiveFunny But not so much the kids whose grandparents lived in London...
@@danielwhite1135really?
@@danielwhite1135 We fked either way. Nothing we can do now...

Zombie knives arent tools, theyre crappy chinese blades with one purpose but a machete is just a tool. Thankyou Drillers
A knife, like a gun, doesn't kill or injure by themselves, it takes human intention to inflict harm. Behaviour needs to be banned not the means.

Smart..

gov dont have common sense
Stop and search needs to be back up to scratch. That will help.
Trust the police? We are still posthumously pardoning men the police fitted up.
With the way police behave now, British public will soon need weapons to defend themselves against the Metropolitan Gestapo
Another journalist without a clue. Carrying blades of any description was outlawed years ago.
Shame there's no law against zombie governments!
It doesn’t affect the upper class so they don’t care because it’s not their neighbourhoods that are drastically changing.
