Mr. Blunstone is being so HUMBLE and relatable! I love hearing him explaining things so simply to the younger generation. There are so many things I take for granted as being understood that clearly aren't. Of course the Rob Squad are the likable people we know, but what an incredible honor to have Mr. Blunstone. I've listened to the zombies since my dad asked for a Zombies record for Christmas. I bought The Animals for him the year after that. Great family memories. I love how this music can bridge the generations.
What a huge honor to have Colin Blunstone on to give a first hand explanation of the times and the background for this classic. I am old enough to have enjoyed the British Invasion in the 60's and I have always loved his voice. Fantastic voice....so unique and what a combination of talent in the band!
It's so interesting listening to Mr. Blunstone talk about 'Tell Her No.' It was especially amusing where he mentions stumbling over the lyrics "Don't take her love from my arms." As many times as I've heard this song, I never picked up on it before. Now I can't unhear it. 😆It doesn't matter. The song is still perfection to me.
In addition to their immense musical talents, Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent are two of the nicest, most gracious gentlemen you would ever want to meet. I have had the privilege of speaking to both of them aboard some of the rock 'n' roll cruises they have performed on. If I'm recalling correctly... when Rod talked about the early days of forming the band, he was going to be the lead singer. And then Colin opened his mouth. :) There was also something about how Rod was noodling around on a piano while waiting for the other guys to show up, and when they heard him, they said you MUST play piano in this band. He protested that rock 'n' roll didn't include pianos. Fortunately he changed his mind about that!
A real pleasure Colin! The Zombies were 1 of the great Invasion bands and unlike any others. I'm 72 here and lived and heard so much of the great music from the 50's and on and guessing the 3rd song you'll bring is my favorite "Time of the Season". When radio airplay was full of songs that had to fit a mold, appeal to the kids and be 3 minutes long and not too different, your group came up with a song unlike anything then or now. A masterpiece. I saw Ringo and his all star band years ago and Argent performed it and got at least a 7 minute standing, cheering ovation! Glad to have you still here all these years later and hope that life has treated you well. Thanks for being here for us.
First, Thank you Jay and Amber for introducing The Creators to your audience. It is a thrill for some of us who grew up with their music to "catch up" with them or "meet" them for the first time. Second, Colin, what a revelation when you said how Rod was influenced by Burt Bacharach's style when writing "Tell Her No!" I grew up listening to you guys as well as Dionne Warwick singing so many Bacharach songs so the moment you mentioned that, the connection was so apparent. Thank you for all the hours of enjoyment I have had over the last 60 years listening to The Zombies.
Colin is so knowledgeable, gracious, and full of great anecdotes of the times. The Zombies were so original for the time so great job, guys! And bless you, Colin!
Hi guys. Love Colin's story of mumbling a line and being told don't worry about it. George Harrison told a similar story about how he messed up on a part early on and was told "Don't worry we'll bury it in the mix". 25 years later he remembered that and so came up with the name for the band the "Wilburys".
What a Cutie! I was a child when these songs came out, Obviously I was born too late, But after I met my musician husband I got to play catch-up when the Zombies, Melanie etc.. started touring again!! I was in Heaven! ✌️Y'all
I LOVE THIS song, it is one of my favorites of all time. I was a kid when I heard this and listened to it on the radio. Thank You so much for sharing this. Colin Blunstone for the great songs I got to listen to on my Dad's Philco radio in the fire station, where we lived in. In the '60's. Thank You. Be Blessed You have gave me many memories.
❤ The Zombies, along with the Beatles, are my two favorite British groups from the sixties. But the Zombies, themselves, were, and still are, one of the greatest groups from that period.
I love, that you stand for love and kindness. I have to say that the two of you are so much more spiritually evolved than we ever were. You guys kind of give me hope for the future
Hey guys, thanks for the interview with Colin. So happy you like these two songs. 'She's Not There' & 'Tell Her No' were huge hits in the US, and were in heavy rotation on every Top-40 AM station in the country.
Your new "Creators" series is phenomenal. I see this as groundbreaking in the reaction world. I can imagine Roger Waters or perhaps Sir Paul McCartney participating in this. Bravo! Can't really think of a better way for you to keep great popular music alive for future generations.
Please DON’T have Roger Waters!!!!! I love his music from Pink Floyd but he’s saying some really strange and hurtful things against Ukraine right now and PRO Putin-- in my opinion, he doesn’t need another platform to be spreading his weird and hurtful propaganda.
The reason the artists of the time had to perform live in the studio is because they only had 4 tracks tape machines. So it was a necessity. They had to deliver every time that recording light turned red. 🕊❤️🎼
I had two or three Zombies 45s that used to belong to my cousin in the sixties. Somehow I got them. I had She's not There and a couple other ones. I played them a lot when I was a kid. I haven't seen those records for about 30 years.
The Zombies had a special sound of their own, quite different from the Beatles. You should be familiar with Rod Argent since you've reacted to Hold Your Head Up by Argent.
The Zombies tunes had a very different cadence to them which made them stand out, alongside, of course, Colin's wonderful vocals. Great interview with him. Thanks!
Pristine voices of the 60's. Colin & Art. Got to hear the Zombies in Oct of 65 & Oct of 2015. I cannot tell you which gig was better. They were always so tight & good.
Great video! Hopefully, if we are going to see him again, it will be with Time of the Season, a hit that came a few years later and peaked at #3 in 1969. Rod Argent eventually headed a group called "Argent" and had a big hit with Hold Your Head Up in 1971.
Indeed, they were unique at that time especially. I was about 13 when this came out. I loved their sound! Good memories of great times! Bless you for helping to keep this music alive! Peace and love
It's so cool that you guys get to hear what it was all like for the bands back in the '60s & '70s right from the guys who were in the thick of it. Cool beans!!!! This is such a great song which I've covered in a few bands. A fun song to play.
My wife and I got to see the Zombies do this live around 1995 and meet Colin. He is one of the most down to earth artists I have ever met. Thank you for having him on and showcasing such a talented group.
Would love to hear you react to “Old and Wise” with Colin singing lead with Alan Parsons Project! 😊 Edit update: You DID react to it about a month ago - sorry for my oversight! Great reaction and now that you have met the singer, it will likely resonate even more!
Oh, my, so would I.... For reasons unknown I had missed ever hearing that song, until the first Moody Blues Cruise in 2013. The Zombies were guest artists on that cruise, and one evening Rod and Colin did an acoustic show, just the two of them and Rod playing piano. They played that song. Now, I am a musician (flutist), and my musician's ear hears all the clunkers, so I am a tougher audience than many. Having said that... I was completely mesmerized by that performance, and almost fell out of my chair. It was THAT good.
Love the Zombies music! I think Rod Argent started the rock band Argent who did the song Hold Your Head Up. I saw them in the 70's at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby PA.
You are correct.... And Rod always says that many people think he wrote that song, but he didn't. It was actually written by Chris White, the original Zombies' bass player.
I don't think anyone's mentioned that Rod Argent later on had another band in the early 70s called Argent that did that Hold your head up" song. I think Ya'll did that one in another video 😊
George Harrison always spoke up about songs he liked or not liked. Yes, a "well done " from George means you made it. The Zombies has a really great sound. Loved the amazing stories.
Love these songs, they were more than just songs. they made our youth. They were so beautiful back then. Most of the singers were gorgeous back then. There was NO one like these guys. Colin reminds me of an older lady. hummmm. He sure didn't look like a lady back when, he was very gorgeous.
I remember buying the 45 rpm record of Tell Her No/Leave Me Be and absolutely loving their sound. They were so original and unique it was as if they had invented their own genre of music.
Love to hear the stories really awesome and you might really like to hear Rod argentwith the band called Argent and the song hold your head up The Organ playing is outstanding
"Tell Her No" was the first Zombies tune I heard....it was over the Top 40 station in our town of course. That band used a lot of jazz chords, such as major and minor 7ths you hear in "Tell Her No." They also used a lot of minor chords in their other songs which was unusual for the time. In his book, Geoff Emerick, who engineered for The Beatles and also engineered The Zombies "Odyssey And Oracle" LP, said "...they wanted to carve out a sound of their own, not just be a clone of the Beatles." One deep Zombies cut for you is "I Love You" which was a hit here on the radio for a group called People. But The Zombies did it first and I like their version better!
Since you love 70s soul, You will love kiss and say goodbye by the Manhattans Going in circles by the friends of distinction Smiling faces by the undisputed truth Ball of confusion (That’s what the world is today) By the undisputed truth

The guy is also very humble in giving a lot of credit to Rod Argent, which is well-deserved, instead of taking all the glory himself.
Jay & Amber, The Rob Squad & The Creators series is fantastic!!!
Agreed!
The Zombies did pop music with musical integrity, still holds up today.
Colin Blunstone also sang on 2 gorgeous Alan Parsons Project songs - "Old and Wise" & "The Eagle Will Rise Again". LOVE them both!!!
Wow! Alan Parsons Project, as in "Eye In The Sky (long version)"? Totally underrated! Theirs is some good stuff!
What a sweet, talented, and humble man

Hopefully they’ll take you’re advise, love Time of The Season!
Time of the Season is my favorite Zombies tune too. I thought at age 13 that it was incredibly sexy and I still do at age 70!
What a thrill to see Colin Blunstone! Wonderful! Who doesn't love The Zombies?!
So many great tunes! Love The Zombies! ✌🇨🇦♥️
I love that Amber and Jay are getting to experience these songs with the artists and the artists get to see the reaction of the younger folks.
Colin is a great guy, and fantastic singer.
Still my favorite Zombies tune! Back in '65, ALL the bands were playing She's Not There, but we did this one.
Colin, your songs are on my playlist. This baby boomer loves them 🔥👍🏻
Mr. Blunstone is so talented, love his work with Alan Parsons Project, as well.
Rod Argent and Colin, what a dream team. And then came the band Argent, Colin solo, later the Zombies again, wonderful music over decades.
First, Thank you Jay and Amber for introducing The Creators to your audience. It is a thrill for some of us who grew up with their music to "catch up" with them or "meet" them for the first time.

It is truly a tribute too all the iconic artists who are so generous with their time and how gracious they are when interacting.
Very jazzy song! And Mr. Blunstone ranges into those higher notes with strength.
And he's still got it, all these years later!
What a Cutie! I was a child when these songs came out, Obviously I was born too late, But after I met my musician husband I got to play catch-up when the Zombies, Melanie etc.. started touring again!! I was in Heaven! ✌️Y'all
"breathy" is the word I usually hear to describe Colin's awesome vocals. Almost like a pillow talk voice.
Wow...epic having him!!!!
I LOVE THIS song, it is one of my favorites of all time. I was a kid when I heard this and listened to it on the radio. Thank You so much for sharing this. Next to the Beatles, the Zombies are my favorite British Invasion Band. It was great to see and hear Colin!
I had two or three Zombies 45s that used to belong to my cousin in the sixties. Somehow I got them.

The Zombies had a special sound of their own, quite different from the Beatles. You should be familiar with Rod Argent since you've reacted to Hold Your Head Up by Argent.
they did that song.
Rod and Chris White co-wrote Hold Your Head Up. Rod with the amazing Hammond B3 organ, and Russ Ballard on lead vocals, guitar.
@surlechapeau I know they reacted to it. I guess I just worded it a little bit wrong. I have edited my comment. Thank you. Yes, it's a great song!
this is so amazing , great interview and love this
Wow. To watch yourself 50-60 years later would be so strange. This is a wonderful segment.
So cool. Thank you! all!
Thanks for bringing one of my favorite groups and singer today
What a treat!!! So loving this, the music from my youth and someone who I have listened to for decades and decades. Thank you.
Colin was a doll! He still is💯❤️
The Zombies tunes had a very different cadence to them which made them stand out, alongside, of course, Colin's wonderful vocals. Great interview with him. Thanks!
Pristine voices of the 60's. Colin & Art. Got to hear the Zombies in Oct of 65 & Oct of 2015. I cannot tell you which gig was better. They were always so tight & good.
I love the zombies! I was born in November 1972 and remember my mom playing the zombies and all the 1960’s bands in the house growing up!!
Colin’s voice is smooth as silk one of the best vocalists of all time, always loved the Zombies was so happy they made it into Hall of Fame.
Great video! Hopefully, if we are going to see him again, it will be with Time of the Season, a hit that came a few years later and peaked at #3 in 1969. Rod Argent eventually headed a group called "Argent" and had a big hit with Hold Your Head Up in 1971.
GOSH - his VOCALS are SO GOOD!!! JUST LOVE THIS SONG!!!
WOOOOHOOO - LOVE THIS SONG!!! THANKS, YA'LL!!! GREAT to see this new series!! THANKS, COLIN!!! ...and, THANKS, JAY & AMBER!!! :) HUGS TO ALL!
Thank you so much for featuring the older groups from my youth. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying seeing them. I always loved this group.
Indeed, they were unique at that time especially. I was about 13 when this came out. I loved their sound! Good memories of great times! Bless you for helping to keep this music alive!
Peace and love
I appreciate the fact the artist you have on appreciate your views on their music 😁

What a great guest. Kudos RSR. I love that your You Tube Channel continues to grow.
I agree about the music in the '60's. I was in high school in the mid '60's, right at the time of this great music.
Love the Zombies music! I think Rod Argent started the rock band Argent who did the song Hold Your Head Up. I saw them in the 70's at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby PA.

Both the Zombie songs you’ve reacted to I have downloaded! Great music!
Another great Zombies song! He has such great stories . Good interview!
Shout out to Colin!! Great musician!! Weren't you in Manfred Mann's band also??
No he wasn't. He was a guest vocalist on many Alan Parsons Project recordings, and has about 20 solo albums.
@@mrnobody3161 Yes, it was Alan Parsons. I knew it was something I listened to a lot!!

the zombies are soooo friggin amazing always loved them soo much one of the best bands ever and greatest voices in music
How on earth did you make this happen?!?! Amazing! Awesome video!
Colin was phenomenal, but as a organ/keyboard player I must state that Rod Argent was a force of nature!
A real wild man on those keys!
My favorite song of theirs! I love it!!
They are one of the best 60's groups.
Absolutely love the Zombies 😊😊
