yeah, i tried watching it and had to switch off after 15 minutes. The Fred character was so bloody irritating. The most irritating film presence imaginable
I am watching this in 2020. Yes Covid 19 has driven me to watch stuff on UA-cam that is well past its sell by date. Mark didn't like 'Let me in' but I see it has 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and was nominated for a number of awards. I would like to hear his comments on the film ten years later.
"Let Me In" is terrible. The original 2008 swedish film "Let The One Right In" is an absolute masterpiece, not just an horror but a really intelligent and heartfelt social drama, it didn't need a remake. And the remakers didn't even understand the original at all. As Mark righty said: "Let The One Right In is a film about kids that happens to feature vampires, Let Me In is a film about vampires that just happens to feature kids".
"It's like watching all those things you loved as a kid being smashed up by somebody just intent on squeezing money out of franchises" - EXACTLY my reaction to Transformers.
The problem there is the source material is just too full of wordy descriptions of cobbles and leaves. When the source material is already an animated tv show, where artistic interpretation is limited, adapting it is arguably harder to get right
+ifsey Well still, as a movie it doesn't work. The characters, which were one of the biggest highlights of the show, were reduced to emotionless exposition-bots (and stilted acting didn't help), and the themes presented in the show are not in the movie...they basically chose to adapt the action scenes and not much else. You could look at the surface of the movie and see that the story is similar, but they basically took out the important parts of the show. But, giving credit where credit is due, the effects (apart from the infamous 5-bender-1-rock scene) are pretty good, and the music is really good, and it looks really colorful and the sets are amazing...but even the action scenes are kinda dull because the bending isn't snappy and quick like the show. Still, in terms of a movie, it fails. In terms of an adaption, it fails. And even though some of it is amazing to look at, there are better looking movies to watch. And since both the show and the movie are both in a visual medium, there wasn't any reason to adapt this in the first place. So really, it's better to just watch the show.
Dr Kermode, a touch of seasonal flu was chased away by you saying 'Pimp' in a higher pitched voice. Thank you, the smiles kept me from dosing up on beechams and waiting for it all to be over- the smiles you brought helped.
Dear Kermode and Mayo, You guys rock, look forward to every review. Let me just say that I am surprised you did not have "You Again" in your top 5 worst. This movie is to Jamie lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver (two wonderful and super talented actors) as "Old Dogs" was for Robin Williams and John Travolta.
I'm watching this at almost 1:00am and everyone else in the house is asleep. The first SCREAMING LIKE THIS SCREMING LIKE THIS made me dash for volume down key. Every time I turned the volume back up he did it again. Lol, thanks, Mark. :)
Dear Doctor Dodge, Could you please splice your impressions of Danny Dyer and Fred together. I think that this would make for interesting listening in 2011. Yours sincerely, Mark (Nottingham, UK).
Having not seen any of those films because I avoided them like the plague I'm pleased to see I do have some sense of taste, thanks Mark. You should have run "screaming like this" from the theater 10 mins into Fred, did someone put a gun to your head and say you have to review this film!
“I can't actually think of anything that civilisation has achieved that's more poisonous, more repugnant, more repulsive, more retrograde, more depressing than Sex and the City 2” - Brilliant! Good stuff Mark...
@bobbyladd It's not about being good or bad, it's about being pointless, and remaking something that was already perfect on such a short time span makes it such.
Haven't seen or heard of Fred, but even from the little film clips at the side I agree wholeheartedly with the good Dr. And just for the record, his review of Sex and the City 2 may just his best review EVER. It's here on UA-cam - WATCH IT. So true. Long live MK
@paintballing489 Have you not heard his reviews for Cashback, Margot at the Wedding, Fantastic Mr Fox or any number of other 'arty' films? In my opinion he's one of the few critics who doesn't give such films good review out of fear of looking unsophisticated, he doesn't care what people think about him.
oh my god that was the funniest thing ever! I never comment on anything but i felt i had to say that its nearly 3 oclock in the morning and i have probably woken up the house with my laughter!!PIMP!!! i would pay good money to see mark and danny dyer in the same room!!! I went to see satc2 because i did like the tv programme it was a good comedy show but this was absolute rubbish lets hope they dont plan on giving us a third film
Hell yeah...Predator 2 was actually a really good sequel...loved the idea of the Predator in the city. No Arnie tho...which sort of lessens it a bit...but still...I tell you man that year was the worst year for me at the movies ever. I don't usually go as much as I'd like because its too pricey but I usually end up seeing good stuff if I go. That year I bought the hype and saw Paranormal activity 2 and predators one after the other.....I had to see Sherlock Holmes to restore my faith in film!
@slutbunwallah he dislikes the old Star Wars saga? Can I have a link? Haing just recently watched the prequels, I liked them when I was younger, now. Well, they are poor. Still like the older ones.
@superdiscodancer Did you not see the first movie then?. If you did then that should have been enough for you to not go anywhere near the sequel surely?.
A lot of new viewers of 'Let The Right One In' will **ONLY** have seen it because they saw how good 'Let Me In' is. If 'Let Me In' had been crap, they wouldn't have bothered to track down the original version.
Mark's impression of fred has just broke my headphones
SCREAMINGLIKETHIS SCREAMINGLIKETHIS SCREAMINGLIKETHIS!
I feel genuinely bad that Kermode had to sit through FRED.
Yeah, but his "SCREAMING LIKE THIS" bit is a hell of a lot funnier than the actual movie.
yeah, i tried watching it and had to switch off after 15 minutes. The Fred character was so bloody irritating. The most irritating film presence imaginable
ASobsessive I quit after 5 minutes.
no i mean i literally switched off! The movie got irritating as soon as Fred started talking.
ASobsessive I only lasted 5 minutes before I shut it off.
"I already let the right one in, why would I let you in?"
Mark's screaming moments would make the best GIF ever.
Omg his screaming terrified me that will haunt my dreams
I genuinely laughed out loud every time Mark said PIMP!
RIP headphone users
3:30 Kermode doing a sterling impression of the baby alien from Alien Resurrection being sucked through the window.
I was cracking up at the Fred screaming.
the way he says pimp 😂😂😂
He deserves a nighthood
I’ve got to say man, how Mark ever kept a straight face during this is very bloody impressive!!
I am watching this in 2020. Yes Covid 19 has driven me to watch stuff on UA-cam that is well past its sell by date.

My favorite part of your reviews is your candor! THANK YOU! It so refreshing!
How can PIMP be no 3 halfway through the year, and no 3 at the end, despite Fred The Movie being a late entry?
"It's like watching all those things you loved as a kid being smashed up by somebody just intent on squeezing money out of franchises"
- EXACTLY my reaction to Transformers.
I'm a bit hungover and 'PIMP' and him screaming like Fred hurt my ears and my head but I still laughed.
Well, I have an earache now from Mark's "SCREAMING LIKE THIS!"
repeatedly hit 7 on your keyboard for fun times
Last airbender should be on this list simply for the fact that it spat in the face of one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
last airbender was not that bad. It's probably the best anyone could do condensing a three series show into 100 minutes
derp, yes you are right. Still, 700 minutes -> 100 minutes. It was pretty much impossible to make a good live action film of it anyway
That's what many said about Lord of the Rings.
The problem there is the source material is just too full of wordy descriptions of cobbles and leaves. When the source material is already an animated tv show, where artistic interpretation is limited, adapting it is arguably harder to get right

4:01. Sounds almost like a turkey.
Whenever I get a text message, my phone will from now on go "PIMP!"
SCREAMING LIKE THIS SCREAMING LIKE THIS
Dr Kermode, a touch of seasonal flu was chased away by you saying 'Pimp' in a higher pitched voice. Thank you, the smiles kept me from dosing up on beechams and waiting for it all to be over- the smiles you brought helped.
Eat, Pray, Love.............vomit! Lol.
Love the way he says PIMP LOL
It'd be something lik-SCREAMING LIKE THIS SCREAMING LIKE THIS!
Dear Kermode and Mayo,

LOL I am watching this eight years later, and his impression of "Fred" came in and my husband is staring at me from two rooms away.
Kermode is on a roll here haha Denny Dyer should make Fred into a PIMP, how would that review look like? haha
I find it hard to believe Sex in the City 2 is actually worse than Fred: The Movie.
wow Marks Fred freakout was truly inspiring
Doctor K, your thoughts about Sex and the City 2 makes my day every time I hear them, all I can say is BRILLIANT!! thank you for having common sense.
The fred segment of this made me wet my pants
Couldn't agree more about Nightmare on Elm Street and your opinion of other horror film remakes!
Dear Doctor Dodge,
Could you please splice your impressions of Danny Dyer and Fred together. I think that this would make for interesting listening in 2011.
Yours sincerely,
Mark (Nottingham, UK).
PIMP! was the best gag!
My god my whole house woke up with that screaming.
Dr. Kermode is freakin' HILARIOUS! i almost pissed my pants watching this. :D
"Nitemare on Elm Street" should have been in the number one spot.
Keep fighting the good fight Dr K, we will have our vengence one day.
Deep breaths, you'll do your heart in!
Having not seen any of those films because I avoided them like the plague I'm pleased to see I do have some sense of taste, thanks Mark.
You should have run "screaming like this" from the theater 10 mins into Fred, did someone put a gun to your head and say you have to review this film!
Some friends and I watched pimp the other day, he got it for christmas as a joke. Doing Kermode doing Dyer the whole way through was hilarious.
Just came here to hear him say 'Pimp!' again.
i fucking love this guy-- talking about good movies hes insightful- but talking about bad movies hes fantastic
What about the last airbender???
good ol' kermode, i agree entirely with this list. love the way he can be so intelligent and be so childish and hilarious! brilliant.
Mark. I was having a nice peaceful nap.
“I can't actually think of anything that civilisation has achieved that's more poisonous, more repugnant, more repulsive, more retrograde, more depressing than Sex and the City 2” - Brilliant! Good stuff Mark...
where was the expendables?
SCREAMING LIKE THIS SCREAMING LIKE THIS SCREAMING LIKE THIS
I really like Let me in, the performances were actually pretty good.
MacGruber was excellent! Admittedly, it trailed off in the second half of the film, but plenty of laughs in the first.
thank you for destroying my laptop speakers
Is the Christmas tree in witness protection?
Cheer up Mark, looks like we've got Transformers 4 and Pirates of the Carribean 4 coming our way in 2011!
@kpreston69 to be fair you must've had your speakers on quite loud if that's the case :P
Oh my giddy giddy aunt...
I remember when my form tutor saw Sex and the city 2 and I asked her what it was like. She said that it was the worst movie that she had ever seen.
@DirtTankProductions
now my ringtone
@bobbyladd It's not about being good or bad, it's about being pointless, and remaking something that was already perfect on such a short time span makes it such.

Kermode at his best!!!
Kermode must have a special place in his heart to hate Danny Dyer, he relishes whenever the guy from Dead Man Running has a new film out.
Kermode killed my ears.

SCREAMING LIKE THIS! SCREAMING LIKE THIS!
Anything with Danny Dyer in it ....STAY WELL CLEAR !!!!
Danny Dyer is a complete joke of an actor.
His few movies are simply terrible !!
Wasp was good and he was good in it
Where's The Last Airbender?
This was the best year of wittertainment ever.
Arrive
"SCREAMING LIKE THIS, SCREAMING THIS!!!"
Leave
Sadly I think this will be the closest we'll get to to seeing Mark and the Other One putting up the legendary FRED: THE MOVIE vodcast review...
@DirtTankProductions [insert Gwyneth Zellweger impersonation]
I really expected last airbender to be number 1
love the screaming
The lack of Vampires Suck in your video disturbes me.
@petertyson2 what can i say i was curious, will not be so curious the next time, still cant believe how bad it was.
No Last Airbender? I'm surprised.
@zKa0sz they were worth waiting for
@roloug95 Nope there was a Trnasformers made back in 1986
That's uncanny, I scrolled down to the comments after turning it down, its 00:57 here atm.
Why is the comment section made up of people quoting what we just saw in the video? Like we can't remember ..
PIMP i swear i love this guy
Hell yeah...Predator 2 was actually a really good sequel...loved the idea of the Predator in the city. I aren't justifying Fred with UA-cam hits. I just won't do it.
why does he say pimp like that?
@slutbunwallah he dislikes the old Star Wars saga? Can I have a link? Haing just recently watched the prequels, I liked them when I was younger, now. Well, they are poor. Still like the older ones.
it really did take 205 quid at the box office.
I luv it when he says Pimp :D
@superdiscodancer Did you not see the first movie then?. If you did then that should have been enough for you to not go anywhere near the sequel surely?.
I laughed so hard I cried. (Not even joking)
A lot of new viewers of 'Let The Right One In' will **ONLY** have seen it because they saw how good 'Let Me In' is.
If 'Let Me In' had been crap, they wouldn't have bothered to track down the original version.
Well... at least he didn't rant about SATC2 this time. The man keeps his promises.
@chumpey He said it wasn't as good as the first one (Even though he's not a fan of the original) but not as bad as the second.
CLASSIC MACGRUBER
The last airbender managed to stay off the list?
My suggestion for worst film 2010 is a film called Humpday. Utter bilge from start to end. Mark please review this film!
