    About me:
    Hi, my name is Theo Mutesa. I was born in Rwanda, but like many Rwandans, my family fled the country in 1994 and we eventually ended up in the Netherlands. That is where I grew up and lived for the past 20 years until 2019. That’s when I moved back to my motherland to follow my dream of opening my own gym and help contribute to the development of Rwanda.
    If you would like to support me and/or my business here in Kigali, please donate to my crowdfunding campaign.

      Great observation about people not totally keeping it real with Rwanda. Base on all that is going on and after visiting Dar Ex Salamm and Zanzibar, my wife would rather move to Tanzania. The tax thing is huge, but we want to help either way by supporting the government and local businesses.

    I want to be surrounded by trees and vegetation and land to crop my own food. I plan on being 100% independent from money. We have to teach our people agriculture so we can thrive during situations such as covid. If one can produce his own food, know how to filter water, and build structural stable housing then they are rich in knowledge that should be taught and passed down to the youth. We have to start a circuit of practical survival trades over the western mindset. I do not want Rwanda or African nations to be anything like the west in modernization. We must learn to create our own success with nature. Personally, I like the Tanzania model of not closing down their businesses. Unfortunately, now that Dr. Magufuli has gone to the great beyond, I hope the essence and groundwork that he laid out for his people to maintain freedom and independence thrive forward.

    Thank you for this video I really appreciate your honesty which completely contradicts the narrative that’s being put out there. The truth has not put me off coming instead it’s made me better prepared. A lot of the videos coming out regarding Rwanda makes it out to be Africa’s Dubai which clearly it may become but just not yet. another thing you mentioned which I was so happy you touched on was the after effects of the genocide on the youth for something so horrific to be pushed under the table and to says it’s be dealt with just like that, which a lot of UA-camrs have commented on is extraordinary. I still believe Rwanda is a beautiful country but your video has made the country more real instead of surreal you have a new subscriber and I look forward to following more videos. This is a job well done now I have a better understanding of the country still a lot to learn but along with that comes empathy and realistic expectations.

      @@tyronewatanabe6724 playing who or what. I meant everything I said. Rwanda is a beautiful country but from where it has come to where it is today is amazing. I have been drawn to Rwanda for sometime but something did not feel authentic about the narrative considering it’s history this man has made Rwanda more interesting by being authentic. The information he has given makes Rwanda more African and not because it has problems but it fits better into the narrative. Rwanda is rising like the rest of Africa it has problems but they will eventually be fixed.

    • @PierreJJ.
      @PierreJJ. 3 роки тому +3

      As an Burundian Tutsi I would urge you to order and read the book "Do not disturb" by Michela Wrong. The only problem with leader of the army Kagame is the economy. It is based completely on the illegal import of Congolese natural resources, obtained by his militias in the East of Congo. Once that flow is halted, Kagame cannot remain in power as he is too dependent on the export of illegally obtained goods.
      The fact that he is a Tutsi leader fits within the historical political frame, but let's not forget that the Tutsi only are 15% of the countries population. Against a 85% Hutu population. And that the Tutsi minority reign was the main reason for the genocide. Although the Hutus still remain a poor majority without branded leaders (they still are 'disappearing' in Rwanda) within the countries borders, they have a lot of foreign back-up from runaway leaders in exile.
      And there still is the Interrahamwe (mainly located in Congo) and even some remnants of the Impuzamugambi roaming the border areas. As soon as Kagames grip on the economy loosens, which is likely if the Congolese make a push (this event should be more than likely if Kabila gets his third term as 'president' of the RDC) in the East, the Hutu militias will once again march to Kigali.
      Even when Kigali becomes an African major player, the ethnic inequities and the oppressing reign of Kagame will lead to once again a major bloodbath. This can only be prevented by Kagame himself, if he would make way for some political opponents. Which he isn't likely to do. read yoruself up on Seif Bamporiki, Patrick Karegeya, the singer Kizito Mihigo, and many more. They are all dead.

    I really like your humble opinion about what means rich, and who is poor. I am a german, growing up in Norway, beeing poor my self here. But for others I would definitely be rich. My German family think that I am rich although I rarely can eat two or three meals in Norway since everything is so expensive. I did live together with a guy from Etiopia and one from Mauritania here in Norway, so what they told me is that in their countries once a person get rich, he have security and hanging Gold necklaces around them, distancing themselves from poor people. I think I am lucky growing up in a humble enviroment where also rich people don't show their riches and stay pretty normal. I don't think northern European lifestyle is the best, it definitely have negative sites too, but this humbleness is very important I think. Nobody benefits if someone show how better and wealthier they are from others.

    Excellent video, Theo! Question: Is there a water shortage there? As more people are moving there, are there certain restrictions on how much water each home receives per month? I always see water tanks in the home tour videos, and wondered about that.

    • @theoisback
      @theoisback  3 роки тому +1

      There is enough water, but the supply gets cut off once in a while because of leakages or other issues. So with water tanks, people save water for days to guarantee their own water supply
