Fathers and Sons - A Terminal List Story

- This past December, my friend Michael Broderick surprised me with a very special short film he created based on the characters from my novels. Titled “Fathers and Sons - A Terminal List Story” it is a moving portrayal of two friends and teammates bonding over sacrifice, lost time, and whispers of redemption. Michael Broderick plays Thomas Reece, a Vietnam-era SEAL and CIA Case Officer, and the father of my protagonist, Navy SEAL Sniper James Reece. Tim Abell plays Del, Tom Reece’s BUD/S Instructor and Teammate. As an added bonus for me, I got to find out how Tom Reece gets the Echols Rifle he gives to his son. . . Fathers and Sons was recently submitted to the GI Film Festival in San Diego, a military film festival highlighting “the struggles, triumphs, and experiences of service members and veterans through compelling and authentic storytelling.”

Thank you so much for sharing our short film, Jack. As a first time filmmaker, it’s gratifying to have it be so well received. If folks would like to see more short films about Tom and Del, sound off!
Outstanding, sir.
it was a joy to watch! would love more movies!
Nicely done! Absolutely loved it and would love to see more of this! On a side note, as a Russian, I sure chuckled at the "uggh, how do Ruskies drink this stuff" part haha Del's answer was exactly the right one!
MORE TOM AND DELL!!!! That loud enough Michael? Congratulations. This was amazing. Everyone did an amazing job. Maybe Jack needs to write a prequel series about Tom’s adventures (misadventures?). Again, congratulations. A great short film. One question? Who played the part of the Echols?
Yes sir! This film was awesome. I definitely would like to see more.🇺🇸
So that's how James got his rifle!!
Am I the only one who is nerding out!?!?
Jack, tell me he goes back to Medny Island!!! Jack . . .
it looks different. it's not the same finish. this looks a lot more posh. is this a real thing?
Great to see veterans making films
There needs to be a way to like this more than once
@JackCarrUSA The very brief, subtle focus and re-direct onto the Submariner just before Tom takes his shot in the last frame was awesome. Thank you for your service and happy Father's Day.
You have an excellent eye. Thank you for noticing that very intentional move.
@@MikeZero98 I’m definitely a fan. Thank you for this beautifully crafted short film. You do the backstory proud.
@@tejumo7 🙏🏼
Awesome, thank you.
So when can we expect the first Tom Reece novel?
Thank you Mr Carr for the best fiction in decades.
Also, Congratulations to Michael Broderick, along with ALL the cast and crew, on the production of this wonderful short film.
That was cool seeing Tim Abell. I loved watching him on SOF back in the day.
Yeah, that was a great show! Shames there was never a proper dvd release, just some edited tv movie style film.
Wow!
Good........real good
OMG! I hope this winds up in a book. It’s amazing.
What an amazing job. The love for your characters has really started something. This was perfect end to crappy day. Thank you.
Jack, Great backstory! This video gives us the opportunity to learn a little bit more about James and his father, Thomas. I look forward to future videos vignettes like this one.
Love this! Thank you Jack Carr for sharing this gift made for you!
Thanks for bringing this film back up on Father's Day, Jack. I hadn't seen it before and I'm so happy I did.
This was awesome. I think it would be nice to see this weaved into a future book. Maybe even James receiving his fathers rifle that he ordered, and using it to take out a rival sniper.
They are going need to go to an FFL and pay $50 to do a criminal background check, transfer and registration for that military style assault sniper rifle.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Fuck that noise. Nice film. Love the books.
This short film is an absolute masterpiece. Well done to everyone involved. Just awesome.
Respect. Well executed project. I am sure this video will be announced as the overall winner of the festival.
I don't know why guys but some of the characters in the book, I was sort of able to imagine what they may have looked like, for example I imagine James Reese looking something like Chris Kyle, admiral pilser looking something like stu from The hangover, Steve horn looking something like Norman Osborne from Spider-Man played by Wilhelm Dafoe, Reif like Elon Musk, Marco del Toro like El Azul from Narcos Mexico, Victor Rodriguez looking something like Joey Diaz.
Wow! Just wow. Thank you very much for sharing. Kudos to all!
Nice! Step aside Hollywood.
Loved this. I am hoping down the road we get some Tom Reece story's. Like the Earl Swagger series from Steven Hunter. Love the books keep up the great work.
That was great, especially how many veterans were involved with it.
Come on man you can't tease us like that haha "Here, watch this."-NOPE!! Just kidding ;) Lol Maybe later tho. I'm intrigued!!
Fantastic and heartfelt! Broderick wins again! Bonus points for the use of “numb nuts” in a film. Legit vet speak.
Very awesome and moving! Loving Terminal List and this is a very cool piece to go along with it.
Awesome acting!! Great quality cinematography! Bravo!!👏👏👏👏
As a genuine fan of Jack Carr I most say I am never the least bit surprised by the new ways he finds to suck himself off like only a true “Frog Man” can. IF YOU NOT WEAPONS YOU AIN’T SHIT.
Loved it! Is Del sporting a PSR Arrowhead on his bandana around his neck? Would like to know the story of its placement in the this short. Small detail, but if that is indeed what it is, It would explain that Del's character's was able to meet challenges BEFORE BUD/S
To all the young men that answered the call and came home changed and to those that didn't come back at all. Their arrived Home first.
Found out this short film exists after listening to a podcast on the show, amazing work guys and props to Jack and everyone for the show
Mr Carr I think you'd rock out a great period piece war novel with a young Tom Reece during Vietnam. One can wish right?
Very well done! Thanks from a fan.
That was a great short film!
Cool I'm a fan
Enjoyed it, thanks for your service.
We need more of these! Thanks for all you do Jack
WOW, you guys! That's AWESOME!
two years later and a ten minute short film is still better than anything else out there.
Awesome Job, Writer and Film maker…
why the hell are my eyes watering?
For me it’s just allergies...
So we can watch that's not left leaning bullshit .
Fantastic.
Hand salute to you Jack Carr.
Lookin for the Rolex.
That was awesome. Great stuff.
Loved seeing the vet pics in the credits. Yes, I stayed to watch the credits. Thank you. Thank you for your service. Blessings.
Beautiful. Well done gentlemen
Hot the spot this morning. I spent 18 years as a Infantryman and now just over 23 and now a plt sgt BUT now in the reserves. I to would do anything to get back the time lost being deployed to have back with my son. Now 14
Fantastic
That hit me in the feels
This is the type of content we need more of right here.
Loved the film. Please make more.
Isn't the rifle shown a "Classic"? The D'arcy Echols Legend has a fiberglass composite stock and it's the D'Arcy Echols Classic that has the French walnut stock?
Hi, Hilary. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
Actually, it’s neither. We made this film with a very small budget. A real Echols rifle was not an option. Actor Tim Abell (Del) brought one of his own hunting rifles from home for the shoot. I hope that clears things up. You have a good eye for detail, sir. 🫡
AWESOME
Thank you Jack😢❤
👍🏻🇺🇲
Absolutely loved it! Yes, please more!
Ok that choked me up.
Bravo! Well done.
I hated my dad!! Wished I never had one!
How old was James when Thomas passed?
Is this canon with the series?
I keep trying to freeze frame the video to the watch on Tom's wrist.
Cool video, worst follow thru ever. Lol.
My only critique is that these guys look too young to have been in ‘Nam.
Remember that Carr wrote Terminal List in 2014 and that this scene would have happened several years before that. If these men are mid-late 50s in the 2000s, the Nam timeline checks out.
@@1519Spring alternatively, they could have just aged well.
