So the creature's name is Ned and he represents Tyler's creativity. Basically the song is about Tyler's music writing/creative process and his relationship with music. Chlorine cleanses, it cleans but too much of it is toxic and it can be dangerous. So he has a love/hate relationship with music and the creative process behind it because, while it helps him, he can get in his head over it if he dives deep with it- just how too much of anything can be bad. He's a perfectionist so he doesn't want to return to his seat unless he knows the song is complete to the best of his abilities, and by the end of the song writing process he's drained, but he knows he has to go back and do it again for the next song. So, while it's healing, it can be overwhelming.
In my opinion Tyler's lyricism is unmatched, his words are always such moving poetry. "Can you build my house with pieces? I'm just a chemical" Who else comes up with this?
& these lyrics would be very cringe without Tyler’s vocal talents, the instrumental & production. Top just finds a way to make whatever they want to say just work
This song is about his relationship with the music making process - like chlorine, in small doses it helps cleanse him but it can also become overwhelming and become toxic just like chlorine The little guy is Ned and he represents Tyler's creativity- he's not satisfied until everything is perfect - you can see they are trying to please him - once everything is good then he's ready to dive in - but then at the end he's not impressed when Tyler just shows him that little cup - he wants more The other part of this song you're missing is that between blurryface and Trench they went on a 1 year hiatus where they disappeared from the world and no one knew when or if they'd come back to make more music - so he's saying when I leave don't save my seat, I'll be back when it's all complete, the moment is medical - like hey fans I'll be back when I'm ready, I needed this time off to cleanse
Hi Erick, just wanted to say I just saw your message to me, had been in the process of moving and totally missed it. But I’m excited for it after seeing your message 💛
This one is a straight vibe 😍 Yes the chlorine is toxic but it also clean or purify very well, Tyler is sippin on it to cleanse himself from the dark thoughts inside him. Ned (the little creature) represent his creativity I think. Ned refuse to jump in the pool till it's perfect
This song is so beautiful on so many levels. For me it's a stirring reassurance from Tyler that 'going through it' is human. Tyler tells us about his cathartic relationship with music which, in turn, strengthens our connection to this band, the Clique, and our own healing. Although at first he seems out of place, Ned (who represents Tyler's creativity) is the perfect fit for this message. And the ethereal sounds at the end wash over you every time you hear them. They're some of my favorite sounds and lyrics. Would love to see you check out My Blood and Cut My Lip also so that then you can do the Storyteller Performance versions. Tyler will blow you away with his reimagined versions of Chlorine, Ride, and Cut My Lip, as well as Tear in My Heart and My Blood. It's a longer vid, but trust me, we WILL watch it! And please, no need to apologize for running the video/music back. We all do it, even on tracks we know in our sleep. We so understand. ❤ Lovin' your reactions! 💛 💛 |-/ 💛
I remember someone posting on thier instagram that they saw tyler and josh rolling some sort of giant tank down thier nieghborhood street and they filmed it and lord behold they kept it in the music video🎉
I won't explain what its about. 9000 others will. Lol great job again. Now TRAPDOOR and DOUBT! Lol enjoy! Ps I will request these every time you drop another TØP song
the "Rebel Red Carnation" you hear him mention in this song refers to the red beanie he wore in the blurry face era. You also see it in Nico and the Niners when he's packing his bag. I can't suggest enough doing research into the lore because the lyrics and the MV will continue to confuse you because there's just so much and it's all connected.
Ned, the color yellow, the clique symbols and the hair cuts or styles are very important and repetitive amongst the videos. After doing this one and The Hype i think youre ready to enter the Scaled and Icy era. Starting with Shy Away. Next era is a little different to this one. Cant wait to see more reactions!!
Wonderful reaction, watching you learning ToP is so entertaining. And no you don't neeed to learn all the lore, but learn their specific sound that changes all the time yet is so recognisable. Hugs from Sweden.
You might as well do full album reactions at this point. But you gotta start from the very beginning. This bands music is so phenomenal, it’s so different and unique and real. I just appreciate people appreciating this band, they are so 🔥🔥🔥 I’m a 90’s hip hop fan, older than most…. Twenty One Pilots stole my heart about 7 years ago.
Would have been here sooner but lost power last night just got it back this morning…. Someone hit a power pole down the street took it out… you know I’m gonna be here for 21 pilots and my favorite reactor!!! Another twenty one pilots song to check out is “holding on to you” .. one of my favorites.. hope you like it….
let's go!! i recommend nalbis's channel if you wanna get into twenty one pilots' lore, he has a whole playlist in his channel where he explains all the story behind the MVs and their albums, keep going with the amazing reactions!!
Your interpretation is great. That's one of the best things about twenty one pilots--obviously the music means something to Tyler when he writes the lyrics, but they are wide open to interpretation.
I’m so happy you were able to post all of your TOP videos, I really dived into it and I always enjoy the sincerity of your reactions! I still suggest for you to check their live performances more, as it is when you actually fall in love with this band. Heathens live in Romania is EPIC and anything from Fox Theatre Live, also their MTV unplugged was something else. Anyway, always excited for more! Thanks!
Bro, Chlorine is my favorite song of TOP. In all reality, they don't make bad music ever. I have been trying to watch your videos in order and going along your journey. You do a great job, man. Plus an appearance of the kitty. We have 2 black cats too! You need to go see them live during their next tour which is hopefully sooner rather than later! I am not a big spender for concert floor seats but if you splurge for it, well worth it to see these guys.
Uff, it's 7:40 am already where i live, and I am watching your TOP reactions for the last 2 hours now. So worth it! Love your love for Twenty one Pilots 🔥 Back to catch up on more of your reactions later. Sleep is needed now 😂
I think the chlorine is a metaphor for Tyler's mental pain, too much can kill and if he doesn't have it at all, what to write about then. A little gives him reason to write and creativity. They had a break before the Trench album came out so he "forgot" Ned, creativity and chlorine, for a while.

The yellow represents hope, it’s a color that the bishops can’t see that’s why it’s used so much in Trench

'I've been tested like the end of a weathered flag that's by the sea...'
Goddamn what a line.

Hi Erick, just wanted to say I just saw your message to me, had been in the process of moving and totally missed it. But I’m excited for it after seeing your message 💛
Anyone else felt attacked when he pointed straight at us & said “u in my life is like sipping on straight chlorine” no? Just me? Ok 😅😂😂
Cut my lip, Bandito, leave the city 🙌🏽😎
Let’s goo!! Enjoy 🤘🏾🔥

21Pilots Trees + Speech at Fox Theatre is a complete fire video

Your cat is so cute 🖤🐈⬛
I remember someone posting on thier instagram that they saw tyler and josh rolling some sort of giant tank down thier nieghborhood street and they filmed it and lord behold they kept it in the music video🎉
Tyler knocked on his door and asked him not to post the video.
This man is farming me, I love it.
I won't explain what its about. 9000 others will. Lol great job again. Now TRAPDOOR and DOUBT! Lol enjoy!
Ps I will request these every time you drop another TØP song
I second this, Doubt is super underrated, I would kill for them to bring it back for their next tour
Clique is here and this is a favorite. Sometimes you got take a sip.
This song and Lane Boy were my 70+ year old mom's ringtones for a LONG time haha. Fire!
What!?! It’s all happening!!! ✌️😊🌼 Ned!! I think that this song is tied to March To The Sea. Oldie but goodie.💀

The lyrics for this one are so deep and solemn and longing for a reason to hope.
But the music is a total bop.
It's one of my favorites of theirs. 😊
A very old man reference, but seeing and yelling "Ned!!" is the same vibe as seeing and yelling "Norm!!" on the old Cheers sitcom.
Mug full of beer, pool full of chlorine, tomato/tomahto lol
Yes, exactly 💯 👏

I had chlorine on repeat for a straight month sooooo healing

React to: my blood twenty one pilots
Actually yes!!! Perfect timing to see My Blood.

Chlorine is my favorite song. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And glad you didn't get distracted by the video.
Killing it tonight bruh, lets goooo
Great choice 💛 |-/ love your reactions
watch M. Knight shyamalan's movie "The Village " that will help explain the yellow and red.
Until last year I never imagined I would spend that much money on a stuffed animal lol. Next up - spending even more money on a Ned tattoo
Your interpretation is great. That's one of the best things about twenty one pilots--obviously the music means something to Tyler when he writes the lyrics, but they are wide open to interpretation.
Let's change it up; please react to the cover of Cancer that 21 pilots does
a diamond, the song, the video, absolute diamond...
Glad to see the videos are coming through now.

So worth it! Love your love for Twenty one Pilots 🔥
Back to catch up on more of your reactions later. Sleep is needed now 😂
Here's a Ren recommended artist:
Asaf Avidan - In a Box III - 900 days

I always cry at the last solo😢
You may or may not be familiar with Hype?
