I am so saddened by loss of bassist Alec John Such. I'm so osick of reading articles about Alec not ever playing on any of the albums, that they had a ghost bass player during concerts. I really don't think Jon would've had him in the band if he couldn't play. I think the motorcycle accident affected his playing in the 90s, but he was a great bassist. I watch their concerts on UA-cam and he was a great performer; great stage presence, and a great musician.
Alec recorded all the bass parts for Bon Jovi's second album 7800 Farenheit. The reason why Jon decided to use a ghost musician during most of Bon Jovi albums still is a mystery to me. On the other hand, Alec was a very energetic and charismatic player live. Just watch his performance in "An Evening with Bon Jovi" in 1992. He plays very well, sings backing vocals and switches basses in almost every song, a true rockstar!
I have been a fan of Bon Jovi since I was a baby in 2006 and 2007. Now, a sophomore in high school, I’m still a fan and heard about what happened in June. I burst into tears hearing about Alec’s passing. Sending prayers to Bon Jovi and Alec’s family.
I’ve been a Bon Jovi fan since 1984 and attending their concerts since 1986. The original line-up with Richie and Alex was incomparable, and Alex was so integral to what Bon Jovi became. I’m so glad I got to see him perform live and share his talent in the 1980s and early 1990s. RIP, Alex. ❤️🎶🎸

Very rarely do we ever see a band stay as close together like family even after a member departs the band, Bon Jovi and Alec are proof of that undying bond as opposed to other bands who have longtime grudges, drama and no communication with each other. That's what makes Alec's passing so sad, he went out with his friendships intact but those bonds are a beautiful thing to see. Bon Jovi truly are the good guys of Rock & Roll. Rest Easy, Alec.

It was 1986, i was 10 years old listening to She don't know me for the first. Since then i following this band, enjoying their songs and act. For me Alec will always be the coolest member.
I have loved Bonjovi from the first note I heard in 1986. To me these guys were it❤. It was a huge privilege to be at the Rock n Roll hall of fame. Seeing these guys playing great music together one more time. The 8 hour car drive was soooo worth it!!!!😊❤😊❤😊

I Met Alec and the whole Band when they played in Boise Idaho, fronting for Ratt, their album 7800 degrees, he told us was the temp at which Rock melts, It was my idea to hide Q's for the band, written on paper all over the Tour bus, I said Don't answer the Q's now, just answer them later in one of those Rock magazines, so we could concentrate on Partying Now And they did !! We all piled into my friend's car an Iroc z28 and Diane let Alec drive, He did what you call Slam box the gears change gears without using the clutch, he, Alec must have known what he was doing cause he didn't mess the car up, Later they asked us if we could take them to go shopping for personal items but we were so tired from being up all night, we didn't and we regret that to this day... Alec was cool He gave me his address and phone number but I never bothered him caue they were a busy band over the next few years...RIP Alec, you shall be missed. I can't believe you got a nose job...
Alec had such a life to him and was such a showman with personality. Hugh is the guy who stands in the corner. Much like getting two guitarists to replace richie. What HAPPENED to this band under jons direction?!?!
They doing great,the fact that they can still sell out stadiums is the proof that they can stand without Richie and Jon doing a great job as a leader of the band...ok stop that bulls***t...
You may have been slightly wrong on his last video performance being Always. Although not an album song there was the song "Good Guys Don't Always Wear White" which appeared in the film "The Cowboy Way" and had a video
Ah yes, that could be his last studio appearance - looks like Always single was released in Sep 1994 and Good Guys...came as a b-side with Someday I'll Be Saturday Night released in Feb 1995
Alec played on wanted in like 2001 with the band on stage. Also Hugh recorded all the bass in studio Alec was just the live performer until whatever happened happened
3:37 too bad Alec didn't write this bass line and also did not play it on the record.. :( Nevertheless Alec was the rocker on stage and will always be remembered as the bass player for Bon Jovi. RIP Alec :(

I like Alec, but let’s be honest… They didn’t let him play on albums and talking about stage presence there were many interesting bassists around at the time: Rudy Sarzo, Juan Croucier, Jeff Pilson, Nikki Sixx, Michael Anthony….
So why was he in the band then if they didn't let him play on the albums. Maybe he supplied the drugs. I've watched old live videos of him and watched him play and he was spot on. Great stage presence, great performer, and a great musician, and if it wasnt for Alec there would be no Bon Jovi.

Alec was credited to record all studio bass parts up to These Days album (except Hugh filled in on Runaway and Livin' On A Prayer)
