Nice review ! Always better to see a bloke on his patio using it like the rest of us, rather than the promo videos. Hate using a paddock stand on my own, think I'll get one of these instead - cheers !

Another really decent walkthrough guide Mr B. I bought a paddock stand. This Abba stand looks a lot easier to use on your own. You should do more of these guides.

The Abba stand is a worth while investment for sure! You'd be just as impressed with the front lift and it's worth buying for sure. Unlike a paddock stand you can drop the forks as well as remove the wheel, even have good access to the brakes / callipers unlike some paddock stands give. Another worth while option is the adaptor they sell which enables the swing arm to be removed. When I take the Speed off the road for the winter it will live on my Abba stand for a while!

Just seen my previous post about six months back....no I didn't get one from the wife ad I originally believed but that wasn't a problem with the zzr1100 as it had a center stand obviously.
Oh well all sorted now....i will be getting the attachments for the front wheel lift and also like the bike lifting kit.....but that's 450 quid so not yet I'm afraid.

is there any chance that a bike can be dropped while lifting it up (with both bolts mounted properly of course)? can it tip on the right side while holding it upright like at 3:37 - ua-cam.com/video/C1rVd5Mo1aQ/v-deo.html in the video

I'm sure the ABBA stand is a nice piece of kit and I'm considering buying one with all the goodies for winter storage and maintenance, but...
Your time with the normal stands is horrible.
I do the mounting of BOTH front and rear stands also around 30sec!!
It just takes a bit of preparation THE FIRST TIME EVER you use it.
I use the normal paddock stands, but the rear with bobbins and hooks.
(just because it came with the trackbike when I bought it)
But its just a second of 5 more that I needed with the rear type like you have.
When I arrive, I place the sidestand on a piece of wood, so the bike is almost upright.
The hooks (or the old style pads) are marked for correct distance and can be fixed with a screw (the old pad style are secured by pins so they can still rotate).
You lost A LOT of time cause yours were loose.
Don't know why you had so much trouble with lifting the rear, but just a big jank and mine comes up instantly.
the front is just set tire in line, place stand, lift up
There are obviously positive arguments for the ABBA, the biggest is the space it takes when not in use and the accessoires available
It's just tooo expensive when we're honest, no??
the classic type costs no more than 80bucks for a set when you dont buy premium ones and 120 for the new type that doesnt use the fork.
Appeciate the ABBA, but the originals arent THAT bad like you let it seem to be.
    IMHO
    cheers

    • @BraindumpTv
      @BraindumpTv  9 років тому +1

lillnemo1 Well the rear tyre is too wide so you have to open and close the arms. Second, I don't want bobbins on the bike. The ABBA give you better access too, for example you can drop the swing arm, take forks out... so... it's a winner for me.
      Cheers Buddy

Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump
      yes, I get that
I understand it has "big" pro's
but I just wanted to let people know that time to install on most bikes aint that much different between the abba and the normal paddock stands... on most bikes
btw, how big is your rear tire?
my 750 srad has a 190 an no probs with the old style like yours
Euh, just was thinking about it... your tire is wider than your swingarm???

Looks like a good bit of kit. Not sure about the end bit. If this becomes a speed challenge for lifting your bike I'll use the XJ6 with its handy centre stand. For the Z there's no way I am racing. I see disaster ahead!
Don't do this with your Abba stand though...

Jesus, man..put a pair of spools on the bike, then it takes ten seconds to lift it with a conventional stand, and it's rock-solid once it's up..

    • @BraindumpTv
      @BraindumpTv  9 років тому

Doug Gyver As per 6:03 - I don't want spools on the Bike, so works for me :) If you don't mind spools/bobbins attached to your swing are then it's all good for a standard paddock stand :)
      Cheers

Mr & Mrs B's Brain Dump Didn't mean to come off sounding like a twat..I just love my Pitbulls!
FWIW, the ABBA stand DOES do the job nicely, and your video showcased it well..
But I'd sooner use a pair of logs to balance the bike on than one of those rubber-footed swingarm-scratcher paddock stands you demonstrated for comparison!
      :-)
If you have a serious aversion to spools on your bike, just use a pair of properly sized bolts..only takes a second to thread 'em in..

    • @BraindumpTv
