I got into street skating again, 32 years old, haven't skated since I was 19. Was at an old spot...Got asked to leave by a security guard ...who I recognised as someone I used to blade with when we are kids. We legit swapped numbers and met up at the skate park on the weekend. He had not skated years either, now we are learning together. So surreal
@@SpookyBoots yeah it's rad I moved back to this town during corona and was struggling to make friends and because of that reconnected with so many old friends. Most have kids who are learning to skate now
I'd never gone in-line skating of any type until I turned 47 and took the plunge to purchase my first pair of pro skates. I have to say it was the best decision I've taken in the past few years. The experience of skating is simply breathtaking!
I get ya man! About to turn 48 in a few weeks. Was a late 90s noob skater on cheap mass produced blades. Found them in my garage during the first lockdown and rekindled the passion. It's been slow progressing but am loving being back in the boots.
I was born and raised in the 505. Now live in Ok, but I skated as a young teen and stopped until now. As a 43 year old “beginner,” I’m loving every minute. (Btw, I miss the mountains and food.)
Many, many thanks from Japan. My daughter (7) just started inline skating and she’s begging me to join. I’m 45 years old and I haven’t been on skates since the 90s! Fabulous content! ❤❤❤
I was using voice to text when I was responding to you. So that last comment didn't make a lot of sense. But what I was trying to say was I need to make my way over to your channel to check out your new videos!
Hahaa, no problem ;) Hey, the videos won't go away, you have plenty of time! My new project is to skate a marathon and share all the details, so people can do it too. Like a for real trainingsplan, so everyone can skate 42k :)
“Falling is an art form and, I think I’m pretty good at it.” Relatable. Haha! But this is a great video!!! Very encouraging for anyone and helpful tips!
Really great video. I got back to inline skating (aggressive) about 1 year ago and the last time I was seriously inline skating was in 1999! I need to say that I agree with everything you said and kind of share the same experience. About skateparks though, I'd say I'm really surprised how a mess it is actually. Older people (mostly skateboarders and inline skaters) do respect rules, but skateparks are crowded with kids on scooter just fooling around, not paying attention, sitting on ledges and not doing or attempting any tricks at all. Of course there are people on scooter that do awesome tricks and do use the place for what it is, a skatepark. I don't say skatepark should only be allowed for people who are doing high level tricks but at least, it shouldn't be just like any other playground.
Yeah it's just such a popular sport at the moment so everyone is doing it, and when everyone is doing something it ups the numbers of people who just don't care about traffic rules lol
Man. I skated inline from 94ish to 2002ish, then started again in 2014ish and stopped bc my kids were growing up. Now I'm 40 about to buy a new setup. In the meantime my 10 year old daughter got in to skateboarding. I skateboard a bit too, so I brought her to the skate park a couple years ago. I can't believe how much it's changed. There was a certain "unorganized organized" etiquette back in the day. I'm trying to teach my daughter the right way but none of the younger kids, even the teenagers, show any kind of respect. They constantly snake each other. It was driving me nuts. When I get my new skates I'm staying away from parks. I'll skate street and skate alone.
@@SpookyBoots that's not a bad idea, really. I'm sure bc the parks are so crowded now theirs a fend for yourself kind of attitude. Inline, skateboards, bikes, scooters...back when I was younger it was just skateboarding and inline. Really, I should just learn to adapt and go with the flow. I don't want to be the miserable old guy at the skate park. Haha.
Hey Jeff, Soon! I have some shirts coming in on Friday I believe. At the end of the video I flash the designs. I about to post the designs on Instagram if you want a better look. Are you on Instagram?
Damn homie.. that last section hit home for real 😟. Broken hand ✅ typing job ✅ in a cast ✅. 😂 but it’s too fun! And I’m getting good at chicken pecking the keyboard lol.
I’m 68 and roller bladed after learning in my forties. I have been off them now for about ten years, two new knees and trying to skate again. I feel incredibly shakey and it’s been a slow process getting my confidence back.. I found a spot close by with a waist high fence on the trail. Little by little I am starting to go a few feet without hanging on! Any thoughts?
I haven't roller skate since highschool know im 30 i realize how much i missed it so I went out and got a used pair that was in good shape to start practicing so i could relearn since i kinda forgot how to skate.lol
The best tip I can give anyone at the skatepark - to avoid crashes - point your finger and look in the direction you are going! Whoever is coming at you will automatically dodge you in the opposite direction.
Thank you! I wish my channel reached more younger people but what can you do? Lol and next week I should have an unboxing video of the shirts. So stay tuned!
@@SpookyBoots I don't know why more younger people don't get into blading tbh. I guess scooters are seen as cooler than skates at this moment in time. I feel like the recent resurgence with a lot of people getting back into it will lead to more younger people at some point! 🤷♂️ OR inline skating will be deemed an old persons sport like bowls 😂 Out of interest are you planning on doing international shipping with the tees?
@@SpookyBoots I ment they said. they comment that scooter or skate they can bail while inline there is no bailing on a fail. I like when they watch and when I airing a quarter pipe make them vocal a wow ...
How are you even spooky??? Add some lofi bgm as you speak and it can totally transform into a wholesome chat with an old friend. Really enjoyed the video and I’m pretty sure many will benefit from your experiences.
Your "set" looks good but sounds horrible- awful echo. Looks like you're already using a lavalier mic, plugged into your phone? Move it off that stand and get it near your mouth, by clipping it to your collar or hoodie. This will help greatly with the echo. Other than that, great video, as always!
The mic is super sensitive clipping it to my upper shit blows out the audio. When I'm street skating I clip it to the bottom of my shirt and works fine. I just need soundproofing in the room because it's essentially empty so that's why the echo is there.
@@SpookyBoots Ah ok. Can you adjust the gain in your phone's recording app? Or maybe the mic itself has a gain knob or switch? If not, I can recommend the Audio-Technica 3350 lav mic, only $35 or so, sounds great and affordable. I've used one of mine into an Android phone a couple times and it sounded great. really long cable too, so for a seated shot like this you can run it right into your camera and skip syncing in your edit. As for soundproofing/treating, most of your bounce/echo is coming from those two walls you're close to, I imagine you don't want to uglify those whole surfaces with sound treatments, if so try the mic first.
Great message!
Thank you!

I relate to that. I moved during the pandemic to a new city and state. It's been hard making friends on my own.
Was not expecting to watch this whole vid but once I started it felt very relatable and I had to finish it
