    Hey nice tutorial. I think I can maybe give you a tip as well since you want to start (or get more into) calisthenics. Chances are you already are aware but whatever most of the time you give me the tips. ;)
    From the look of your handstands and l-sits it seems you could benefit a lot from shoulder extension mobility work. Like bridge, backsupport, back support walks/slides, weighted shoulder extensions and the like. Why do I think that? When you raise your legs from your L to a V, you don't push your hips in line with your shoulders first, instead you lean a lot backwards (Indicator no. 1). When you extend yourself for your handstand the angle between chest and arms isn't optimal/ shoulders are not fully opened (Indicator no. 2). You have to compensate a lot this way.
    However good luck for your training!

    Hallo Mani, thank you very much for this video. I too will fabricate this tool.
    But caution with your wood: at 2:46 you see very clearly at the cut that this wood is impregnated. The exterior year rings have a different colour than the interior ones.
    The wood you picked is generally stuck into the earth. Without this impregnation it would be rotten in 2-3 years.
    At least you should:
    1. Wash the surface of the poles>
    2. Use magnesia while exercising and afterward wash your hands.

    Hey Mani, just be sure that those round pieces are not treated for exterior usage, you do not want that nasty stuff in contact with your skin (you cannot sand it off, the treatement to prevent rotting goes deep in the wood). What is the diameter (guess around 40-50mm)?

    • @ManitheMonkey
      @ManitheMonkey  7 років тому +2

      Good point, the stuff I bought smelled neutral and had no traces of treatment on it so I guess it's quite ok, also there was actually some stuff growing on it which I filed off so I assume it's quite natural wood :P The diameter is 55mm

      Mani the Monkey usually it looks like some green stuff on the wood, good to hear it looks clean on yours.

      Thats a good comment right there. Im planning to make my parallettes by cutting my old shovel wood. But the shovel is made to be used with hands so i should be safe right? Or its better to wrap it up with something

      What nasty stuff? It's just wood, come on..

  • @blums.skis_
    @blums.skis_ 6 років тому +1

    It's definitely simpler to make these with PVC piping, but I like the look of yours a lot more.
    Also, as others said that wood is treated and not very good for your hands. Smell is not an indicator of whether it is treated.

    Could these work on carpet or does one need a hard floor? Also, got to love a guy who uses all hand tools rather than run out to his full woodshop using drills, planers, joiners, etc.

    I would prefer the full grip. Just not too thin. Great tutorial anyway. How are they holding up? Do you think the glue will get weaker over time and it will eventually come off? I would use mine just inside the house obv.

    Weird coincidence I made myself some diy paralletts a few days ago. They are not portable though. I want to get full rom handstand push-ups one day so I needed 30cm of depth. What are your calisthenic goals?

    Hi Mani, do you have advise for sports taping? I've seen some climbers using it around their shoulders or elbows but I'm sure how to apply it exactly myself. I get some pain on the inside of my elbow. Thanks!

    • @ManitheMonkey
      @ManitheMonkey  7 років тому

      Unfortunately I don't have lots of experience with taping except for fingers, so I don't feel competent to help you here, maybe consult a local physio or something.
