3:30 - #3 Super Man

6:02 - #5 Dumbbell Snatch
The young climber looked into my soul between the exercises...
Ballroom Journey for real! Haha
I dont have a soul
During the pauses, he thoroughly judged your strength and deemed you not worthy
3:26
😂
These were rather hard... I felt like climbing is training for these training exercises.
Unironically yes. You're not supposed to do strength training for the first six months of your climbing, because tendon strength is usually the weak link in the chain for new climbers.
*sideways glance*
Great video and I appreciate the straight forward delivery without trying to be over the top entertaining and engaging as so many of the others can be. Encore!
I have watched so many videos about abs and went to many gyms never have I saw some work the core like you the best
Wow what an amazing tip video. Loving all these tips.
Great video! Thank you so much
Horst's control on #4 is solid.
Looking forward to the stability part of this series - anybody got an idea of when that is coming up? :)
Thanks for sharing this is very helpful.
I think it would be helpful to include some options that are more entry-level so you can work up to the full body weight shown here.
Pull up band. Dr. Horst should have mentioned those. The more difficult hanging exercises can be done in "entry level" intensity using those.
I fully agree it would be helpful to have options for the bar pull up exercises. Would anyone be willing to share videos to modified versions of these? These other exercises are great, thanks.
Thanks Eric!
Thanks, I will try these exercises.
Why are you all complaining about the kid, he’s awesome
Very interesting and great tips. Thx
The room looks like heaven ... i would be constantly trying some routes there man i wish i had space for such a room
The superman - you can actually make it a more constant effort and more engaging one by always keeping the arm you are not currently raising slightly above the ground. I've found that after a while, the superman itself gets too easy and I need too many repetition to feel it. But keeping both arms slighlty raised at all times helps that...
GREAT SCOTT!! FORMIDABLE!! THANK YOU!! VERY VERY COMPREHENSIVE! AWESOME! THANK YOU, BLESSINGS!
3:21 CHEEEEESE
What the hell is Cam doing at 3:22?
its most likely on a glider/rails which creates movement ultimately making it slightly more interesting than a still shot
Oh, I see where you could think he's talking about the camera but indeed he actually speaks English correctly and didn't leave out the word "the". He's asking about the pronoun, Cam. This is also emphasized because of the fact that Cam has the first letter capitalized.
This is hilarious 😂 and at the same time full of useful tips. 5/5 !
What great exercises !!!!
It would be lovely to be young again !!!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
The young guy was very good
Great exercises
Great video! I can't wait to give this a try.
great video
Some off these comments are horrible have some respect, the young boy is probs in a more pristine shape than you have ever been. Don't be so envious...
Ross Mcarthur not mentally
Ross Mcarthur....if you cant handle a little internet trolling.....then log the fuck off.
please do more vids like this
Brilliant
from a physics standpoint i have no idea how climber do what they do sometimes.
haha.. training hard and with a lot of experience
Then you still have much to learn!
have you climbed?
Two words, well, three - core strength, and finger/grip power
As both a physicist and a climber I can assure you it is all perfectly reasonable.
This kid can use a smile
Roy Wardenaar hi
Classic Stockholm syndrome
That side glance xD 2:29
Make some video for shoulders as well
Do you have any beginners guide? :)
💪 💪
Looks so easy
When I did the windshield wipers I ripped something in my abdomen and it burns sometime when I do abs.
I need a beginners version of this
David Coker this is beginners if you can’t do this just do more climbing until you have strength for specific training
should I do these 5 excercises after a 1.5-2 hours bouldering session? or I must give this a specific day?
if it's the second option, can I make a boulder session, on one day, and do this in the next day?
adi elisha i would do these exercises on a different day. i would recommend to do one day of bouldering, take a restday and then finally do this workout, your muscles should be completely rested, to get the most out of it.
Where's the stability episode ? :P
3:21 what is the young dude doing?? 😂
he was hissing
fucking hilarious hahahaha
That was, a smile.
Someone is telling him to smile lol he's a serious guy
@@sssPUNKyyy hahahahahahahha

Any suggestions on how to actually engage the core or how to use that core strength during climbing? I think I have decent core strength as I can do all the exercises in the video for multiple sets of 20+ reps without struggling. However my body tends to swing in the air on overhang walls and I find it difficult to control with feet stepping on the wall or holds like other climbers easily do. I'm fairly new to climbing so maybe I haven't got the technique for that?
Hey John, a good thing is to join in with others at the wall and do boulder problems together.Discuss how to solve the problem and you'll quickly learn loads of new techniques.
Thank you Patrick!
hmm.... may I request a video for beginner variations?
Lol i need a whole video just on how to be able to do that windshield wiper move
front lever is performed with straight arms
I...... Am I stoned or did he growl at me at 3:20?
2low2rl yes and yes haha
Lay off the kid... he's not a professional sports model, just trying to help his dad. Picking on kids is highly uncool... geez
Jake Sevins i cant breath its way to funny xD nothing against the guy
i appreciate the sentiment but by calling him a kid you yourself are being pretty condescending dude looks at least 16-18
@@lalal278 so still a kid?
But I’m younger than him so I get a pass hehe
I skipped my core workout for 2 months now I cant barely do 1 wind shield wipe.
Aryan robot, class of 2017
portzblitz lmao i can't
3:21
2:29
These are all for people with abs already strong. i can dead hang but no way can i pull up at all. So they are o help to me.
I did not know John McEnroe was into climbing.
love that kid's teeth flash.
3:21
for real though with windshield wipers, you don't want to be rotating your lumbar spine (lower back) like the guy in this demonstration is sometimes doing, rotation should come from the thoracic spine only. Try and keep your shoulders level and keep it as a controlled movement. You should never rotate your lumbar spine
Song with the guitar!!!???
Who cares about what the kid looks like. Thanks for a useful video. :)
2:29 when 2 elephants are having sex on your left, but unfortunately you have to be focused on looking into camera.
I'm getting a serious Priest/Alter boy vibe here
I thought I was a good at climbing then I saw that wall at back ground 2:14 I felt weak
ok
2.27 Great sideways glance from the kid.
3:34 how the kid wants to be this entire video
the face of the young guy at 3:21 :-D
;-) meine absolute Hass-Übung - wenn ich es die ganze Minute Vollgas schaffe durchzupowern mache ich eine #SPAupyourLife-Party... momentan werde ich nach 35 sek. immer langsamer... :-p
The last exercise seems so dangerous...
Thanks doc brown
But seriously though this vid was useful
Your son has a really pretty face and awesome body! Also, it's a joy to see him do exercises ... looks so easy.
remember the kid that he can still breath even if he s on camera!!!
I don't see how the "dumbbell snatch" exercise would help. You pull and contract the abdomen while climbing, and this move is the opposite of that.
I believe that this oppositional training counter-acts the repetitive motions that we perform while climbing. **Because** you're constantly making a motion opposite to the dumbbell snatch while climbing, it's extra critical that you train the opposing groups of muscles to prevent imbalances.
I'm saying this because I used to ask my physical therapist the same questions when I had my climbing injuries, most of which were from muscle imbalances or improper training. She had me go through excercises similar/easier than dumbbell snatches because my pelvic area was in pain. She determined that I had core imbalances that were affecting my pelvic floor. After a week of doing those exercises (and I still have to keep them up), the pain started to go away.
Right. One avoids putting on muscle weight that does not improve performance while also not neglecting the opposing muscles completely. Climbing is all about balance.
This might be a good exercise for staying healthy; I am just skeptical that it would improve core strength for climbing.
It helps to develop posterior chain strength which is a part of you core stability. Lifting weights does not equal putting on muscle weight, lifting weights in a program designed to exhaust muscles in a very short period of time repeatedly increases muscle mass. Snatch and overhead press from a squat position is good for working your glutes and back muscles at the same time, this is your posterior chain. Core stability is created by the anterior and posterior chains contracting and working against each other, so they must be equally as strong to maximise performance. I hope this helps.
one mustn't avoid exercise in opposite direction... helps to stimulate and break the stereotype
it helps a lot to pull the rope for clipping the quickdraw :D
Bloodboy vibes
That guy doesn't even need to breathe
a front lever is performed with straight arms...
The young lad has the face of widow who just found out her 2 sons isn't coming back from war.........
did he just assume?!
I'm inlove
3:20 😬
Shut up bitch
stone boy :-))
Jeezzz! A climbing coach? When I was climbing in the 70's, you were lucky to find a store that stocked 'biner's or climbing shoes in your size. Fancy climbing walls? My friends did "buildering" at the Northwestern engineering building, and tried to evade campus police who would issue tickets.
Gotta say, just a little bit jealous of a teenager who is taking up rockclimbing as a hobby these days. Reese T.
You make first steps, we get benefits from what you did.
Things move on quickly. This largely rings true for me and I'm only 30! (started when I was 6)
But my fingers hurt :'(
Hi, the last exercise named Dumbbell Snatch is not correct performed. Its not a jump up. Power comes from the Glutes, back to forward. Not upwards. Please learn swing first. Snatch with a dumbbell is in fact not a good idea. You can't perform correct technic with this. Look for teaching Videos, Kettlebell with Jeff Martone or others from RKC.
Nichts neues, jeder Fitness Instruktor kennt diese Übungen.
1. The kid looked sleep deprived and gave the impression that he hated his life.
2. That was not a front lever. That was a front lever progression. Big difference, the actually front lever is bomb as fuck. Thriving for the proper front lever is better than just mimicking the progression for days.
3. Someone needs to call child support cuz I gotta feelin that kid gets prison style treatment from his papa.
Swag yolo rekt pepe did nothing wrong.
Max adam lmfao at #3
Max adam you are my hero 🤣👍
But wouldn't just climbing a lot, do this anyways?
wtf is that guy doing at 3:21
Who the rep from Hitler Youth?
Last step - never leave the gym because you only train. Climbing on real rocks is too dangerous.
Good video but too long
hi i love climbing but i have a problem. I am searching a rugged phone which is good and useful. I have found this one AGM X1 someone have this phone? what do you think about? 1. IP68 proof
2. Massive battery
3. Dual cam
4. Support GPS, Glonass,Beidou. Fast and accurate positioning
5. Fast charging
6. Huge storage for pics and videos
7. Affordable price it's look likes good for a climber like me
Is Erik Horst torturing this kid?? What’s going on with him
@3:21 what's he doing with his mouth :')
this is way too hard for me...🙈🙈🙈
Ri a i would look up progressions for each of those exercises and start at the beginning and work your way up to the final positions.
WTF Tilda Swinton in her creepiest moment is doing in this video.
Snatching 15 pounds like a boss, powerlifters go home
Please in french i want understand this exercie for my climbing
Or you could just learn English like the rest of the world?
I am neither British nor American, in fact English is not my native language, but surprisingly enough I can speak it quite well. Maybe because it is the easiest language one can learn in the world? I mean sure, Gilbert, I could care less, a lot less, but then again I could also follow your chain of argument and say "stick to french youtube!".
Tormentor i have nothing against you but if french aren't great in english, why not ? We can make what We want
the fuck ? i'm french and i'm fully bilingual, and i have little to 0 accent when it comes to speaking ? but i agree that french people from France tends to have a weird accent when it comes to english !! I'm french canadian and live near US border maybe that helps. But english had been invented as a trading language thats why it is so easy to learn !
Je suis francaise aussi je peu te traduire si tu veux :)
calisthenics athletes know everything was going well until they said front lever is a core exercise...that hurts...
What does it work?
Is the blonde guy an android?
whats up with the aryan race guy :P
Nothing like a 5lb snatch
THIS IS ALL BASIC
