This is a beautiful car....when cars were cars made by the best in the USA......even rolls royce took some design features from this car to make their silver shadow in 65..........! You can see some similarity in design.
Dear Tucson Classic Motor Co, you missed the transmission selector pushbutton system of this superb Imperial, located at the far left of the dashboard, hidden behind the steering wheel! 1964 was the last year for pushbuttons! From 1965 on, after new governmental federal regulation for safety standards, the traditional shift lever - linked to the steering column - returned to all Chrysler products after a 10-year gap (1955-1964).
Man, when I was a kid in the seventies, those 1964-'65 Imperials were some of my favorite cars. They took the clean lines of the Lincolns of the 1960s and just very slightly improved on them. Beautiful vehicles.
Wow. I'm a car guy, but I had no idea there were power locks and power trunk release in the 60s. I thought those were 70s inventions. Anyway, what a gorgeous car. My parents had a `67 when I was a kid, but it was the Sedan model, which had full door frames.
I remember seeing a 64 imperial in Springfield Missouri like this one it was green the paint was faded it definitely needed painting the guy that had it owned a gas station that he was selling it and he had some other old cars too he wanted $2500 for it the back tires were flat my dad got in it had push buttons my dad push the drive button it had moved I can't remember it was probably back in 2000 when me and my dad went to see the 64 imperial it was gone we ask the guy said he had sold it I wish we had the money then thank you for the video what a nice classic 64 imperial especially in 2021
@@aarongranda7825 For Imperials (specifically), the 413 ended with the 1965 model year; the 440 started in 1966. The 440 was available on non-Imperials in 1965. I own currently a 1964 Imperial Crown similar to this one (even the same exterior color), but mine is nowhere near that condition (149,000 miles), although it runs fine.
I had a 64 Imperial in 73. It was suffering from rust caused by rock salt spread by the county in wintertime on the roads to melt snow n ice. It was black.
This is actually a 1964 Imperial Crown. Imperial was it's own marque. Just like Ford made Mercury, Chrysler made Imperial its own line. So saying Chrysler Crown Imperial would be the equivalent of saying Ford Marquis Mercury.
3:18 If you pull the eagle's wings toward you, the eagle folds down to expose the gas tank filler spout. My parents owned a '64 Imperial LeBaron model, same color of beige. I got my first speeding ticket in this car at age 16. I was traveling at 157 m.p.h. according to the state police who pulled me over, and I was still gaining on him. They took away my license for half a year so I had to return to bumming rides from friends, riding my bike and walking. Bummer !!
I had a a 1967 light blue Imperial. I loved my baby. It was the best car I ever owned. The only thing I had to have down was I had to have the tranny rebuilt. That baby could haul ads. Thanks for the video .
Saw an old C.H.I.P.S episode that featured this guy who couldn't get his 64 Imp started--and when he sees ponch and jon in the rearview mirror--he frantically gets the thing started, backs into a dumpster--forcing the chippies to go chasing after the dumpster downhill
Just to clarify, it is no more a Chrysler Imperial than there are Chrysler Dodge or Chrysler Plymouth cars. Imperial was a separate make starting in 1955 so this is an Imperial Crown, not a Chrysler Imperial Crown, the Crown 4-door hardtop being the entry level car for the year. The Crown 4-door, contrary to what one comment said, did not have power vents unless ordered as they were not standard on all models. Even my former higher end Crown Coupe did not have power vents and A/C was also optional although a second rear A/C was an additional option not offered at all by Cadillac except for the Fleetwood 75 long wheelbase cars. That said, they are indeed nearly indestructible. I have had many Imperials and still have both a 1965 Imperial LeBaron and a 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special and there is no comparison. Where Cadillac went into gadgets, Imperial went into high quality. Once I lifted the rear up high on a 1964 Imperial Crown Limousine by it's rear bumper using an engine lift to get it up for the replacement of the mufflers and the following weekend tried the same with a Cadillac. On the Cadillac (even though it was shorter and lighter), the bumper went up but the car did not! It was that flimsy.
Incredible to not have a center roof pillar, that goes into the flooring, like the other cars. Instead, just the windows separated the rear from the front. I rode a '65 Galaxy that was the same way.
Soy coleccionista de piezas tengo en México city parrilla completa , biseles de faros traseros , centro de volante y varillas de viseras todo en muy buen estado
Very highly optioned. Just missing A/C, FM And tilt. Those pop up armrests are early production and fairly scarce. Someone realized that if the latch broke, you couldn't close them and they went back to spring down like 63.
It was better than a RR in almost every way- in fact RR was very behind. During the war when RR was making engines for planes their tolerances were horrible and ford help to decrease them dramatically. This car was even quieter than a RR.
Jeez! That's why I hate communism! Best car made back then in USSR was the Volga GAZ 21. And even now you won't find even one Russian to say "Americans are better than us"

I believe this car was not allowed in smash up derby’s due to the fact they where nearly indestructible. Beautiful car.

I had an aqua green 4 door 64.
Sold it to Chrysler club president some years ago. She has 21 cars and mine is her favorite.

Such a gorgeous old Imperial! I love these sleds ...
Wish they made cars like this today. Proper transport. Lovely.
Agreed Brian well said
Absolutely stunning!
Nice old car. Never thought I'd see a car of that caliber and likely high original purchase price with no air conditioning.
My 1965 le baron doesnt have ac it was option
Who else but Imperial would think of gold leather. I've seen it in several year models and love how it looks. Nice 64!

I bought a 64 while I was a senior in high school. Best car I ever owned. A tank!
Very nice car! I am convinced Chrysler by that era made the best cars of them all
Quite the opposite now
My uncle albert had one of those. the convertible one. Had the 413 ci engine built like a tank.
413 ends in 64 after that 440.

Nice car. Power vent windows were standard equipment on the 1964, '65 & 1966 Imperials but Airtemp was still an expensive option

That car can’t be beat.
For the 1964 model year, the wheel covers are color matched to the exterior paint.

Why do people slam car doors (glove box, trunk, hood) to close them? In most cases just a push will get the job done - slamming is not needed.
