- The Chrysler Imperial, introduced in 1926, was Chrysler's top-of-the-line vehicle for much of its history. Models were produced with the Chrysler name until 1954, and again from 1990 to 1993. The company positioned the cars as a prestige marque to rival Cadillac, Continental, Lincoln, Duesenberg, Pierce Arrow, Cord, and Packard.According to Antique Automobile, "The adjective ‘imperial’ according to Webster’s Dictionary means sovereign, supreme, superior or of unusual size or excellence. The word imperial thus justly befits Chrysler’s highest priced model.

It has pictures of 1973 Chryslers, not Imperials.
This is a truly awesome walk through the Imperial brand evolution. Thank you!!
For 1973, you showed New Yorkers, not Imperials. 1973 Imperials looked similar to '72 except for the big safety bumper.
A most beautiful legacy! We all have wonderful memories of cars that were in our childhood, our first car and our first date. Seeing these cars of old is incredible to know they exist. Thank you for sharing.
Many thanks for the support!
In 1976 I bought a 1954 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe for next to nothing.
Was a very cool car would pass anything except a gas station and was fun to drive and got lots of attention.
It still had the Dyna-Flow transmission.
Loved that old car
In 1955 the Imperial became a separate make through 1975 when it was discontinued. Brought back in '80, '81 and '82. Then again in '90 and '91.
Brian Nichols the fact that the IMPERIAL was.a separate make from 1955 on is a matter of historical fact and record. Don't believe it ? Go to Google , and put in "IMPERIAL separate make 1955." See for yourself.
MY GOD!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAR, REALLY VERY BEAUTIFUL, EXCELLENT VIDEO YOUR CHANNEL DESERVED MY REGISTRATION.
5:46 Nice touch painting the aftermarket evaporator enclosure so it matches the interior color!!!! Great idea.
there were no imperials produced between 1994 and 1997 despite what this video says
What a swell showing, Thanks!
The Black Beauty the car of Green Hornet was based on a Imperial '66 Sedan with a 440 Hemi V8
There was no such thing as a 440 Hemi.
You've got the engine size wrong between 1956 and 1970. For 1956 the engine size was increased to 5.8. For 1959 it was increased to 6.8. For 1966 it was increased to 7.2.
U know what.... I LOVE this!! Cool simple concept, and the period correct music is a great touch!! IF you'll allow a suggestion, I think adding the purchase cost adjusted to current money would just knock it out of the park. Also wouldn't hurt at all to add horse power and 0-60 times when available.
Anyway cool stuff

this is a wonderful video! next time please give us a little history...
This is the car mr drysdale drove love it
The styling improved beginning in 1964.
Agree. 64-66 my sweet lebarons.
Super . . .
The '63 was the end of great Imperials.
But no matter, the Imperial represented the greatness of America with NO apologies.
And were all better for it......
tom mcCahill loved them
I'd say 1969.
Chrysler didn't have a V8 in the 1930's. Straight 8 yes.
There were a couple of New Yorkers thrown in there.
The price is wrong on the 81-83, it was 18K and not 11. I had one.
They should have put the 2006 into production. More than likely would have outsold Lincoln and Cadillac.
that is just what they said in 1980 about the 1981s in all its history never came close beat lincoln in 1957 continental was seperate then
I like the 69-73 models the best. Also, that 2006 model should have been produced. The only thing I would have changed were the suicide doors.
The Chrysler Imperial that appeared in the first few minutes of the movie Back from Eternity which was released in 1956, was the outstanding car I noticed when I saw the movie on Television late night on a weekend in the 1960s . The other thing was the beautiful girl who was holdups a camera with a friend to interview a famous professor was Barbara Eden in her movie debut.
Magnifics cars!
What car would you like to see in the next video?
Chrono Logy Stutz Blackhawk 😀
Wow! For the first time I see this model. Interesting 1971 model. I'll try to do
Chrono Logy Yeaaaaahhh ! Thanks!
You are welcome!
All nice thou good colors..
Chrysler didn't come out with a V-8 until 1951. These early models had either a straight 6 or a straight 8.
long hoods straight 8
Favorites are still 55 and 56
Get your facts correct. Chrysler didn't produce a V8 engine until 1951. The had straight 6s and 8s prior.
I really like the music in the video from 1:56-5:36. Could you tell me the name of the song and artist?
Hi! He had no artist name. I downloaded it from youtube music library. But I have a music file. I can send by e-mail. Please write your e-mail here and I will send you a track.

1964 is the best looking
Change my mind:
A fantastic chronology, great photos and presentation but these automobiles were top of the line and refined .... your choice of music should have complimented that instead it sounds like music you’d expect to hear with a Chevrolet presentation. The 1990-93 style was the best.
Great pictorial of beautiful unique rare cars, but your prices are nuts low and the listings of the v8s prior to 1951 is wrong they were all straight also known as inline eights.
The burgundy car at 2:10 looks a lot like a !937 Lincoln Zephyr.
Bring back the Rumble Seat! The one glaring omission in the modern automotive sphere of current offerings.
The modern technology convenience is swell but with out the mother-in-law’s seating arrangement they simply can’t complete with grandfather’s ride.
Fine photo series but for the errors others mention. From me: why such low-grade, hard-edged music to back high-end, high-style cars?
64 to 66 were the best years, then they became Bloatmobiles
I meant 64 to 66. Brain fart 😁
Agree, a single 67 got let into club for 64-66.
1967 is the best year for this car.
Nice pictorial slide show of Chrysler vehicles, not all Imperials however. As others have noted, there are several factual errors in this slide show.
72 - 73 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍
Separate brand?, I don't understand.🤔
Nice video, but your 'adjusted for inflation' prices are totally WRONG. Example: 1972 price was $6,762. You say that equals $12,000 in 2019 dollars. WRONG. It would be $41,000 in 2019. Please go back and correct your mistakes.
Don't display your automtieve ignorance by referring to engines prior to 1951 as V-8s--They were all STRAIGHT-EIGHTS until that time!!
what about the 1949 olds & cadillac v8
@@matthewcoyle7866 Since the article was regarding CHRYSLERS, my comment dealt with those cars
I don't like the 2006 Imperial, it looks like a modern version of the Checker Marathon. Instead , they should have built Virgil Exner Jr's design proposal.
Very disappointing evolution to a legend!
From 57 to 60, the cars were great after that the brand just became unattractive in poor quality
Ich habe Furz und Durchfall.!!!
IT'S NOT CHRYSLER IMPERIAL BUT JUST AN IMPERIAL MARVIN FROM UTAH
From 1926-1954 it was Chrysler Imperial. In 1955 Imperial became its own separate brand and continued as a separate brand until 1975 when the brand closed. The later models that popped up in the 1980s and 1990s were Chrysler Imperials. If Chrysler wanted to re-establish the separate brand again they would have needed to sell the dealerships franchise and licensing rights as they did in 1954.
Chrysler and Imperial made some of America's most beautiful cars....as well as some of America's ugliest cars. I think their designers suffered from either bipolar mental disorder, or perhaps someone kept putting L.S.D. into the designers' lunch room coffee pot.
why they even bothered....?
some really overly heavy and ugly awkward cars. sorry. imposing, but certainly not pretty except the airflows
They were all slabs back then.
amazingly ugly and clunky and awkward and thick and heavy and horrible, until 1960, and hard to imagine each one of these dogs didn't foreclose the company. wow.
Lol. Agree. Most were. Some touched our hearts.
