I think this is the first episode where they've changed the intro to the show. It includes Ann helping a little girl get a drink out of a fountainon the street. My question is what is a 2 year old girl doing on the street by herself? Thanks for posting these episodes!
@@docadams7099 If you mean the little girl was with Ann (the character) it doesn't appear so as the little girl is already standing by herself at the drinking fountain when Ann appears in the frame and it running by when she happens to notice the kids problem and comes back to help her.
This is one of my favorite episodes!! Ann is so cute!! Don is handsome.. Lew is a riot!! I watch it all the time!! Her clothes are gorgeous everything matches....❤❤❤❤❤....
This show isn't about a single independent woman. It's about how can I use my feminine charm on my boyfriend to get my way just like I did with my father 😂
Not to mention-for an in dependent woman- she sure spends an awful lot of time with her mom and dad at their house! I never realized before what an incredible user Ann is!
@@nicholasjanke3476 Ann's dad insists on picking up her laundry when he comes to the city so that her mom can wash it. He returns it on his next visit. Ann's made it clear that she can do it herself. In her defense, it's hard to be independent when she has a doting father who wants to keep her dependent.
In 1996 both Marlo and Ted were working on a script for a That Girl revival show, in which we would learn that Ann and Don married different people in the twenty plus years since the old show. Stupid idea! Never would have worked. The fans wanted to see Ann and Don as a long time married couple with grandkids, not have it revealed that Ann later married Phil Donohue.........uh.....oh yeah.
Don has Mies Van der Rohe "Barcelona" chairs! Those are the black leather chairs in his apartment. Dang! Aso, Don is sexy af with a slight 5 o 'clock shadow. Forgive the racist stereotypes of Asian accents on this episode. This was the time of 'La Choy Foods' :" La Choy makes Chinese foods...swing American!" and "My husband, some hot shot!" 'Ring around the collar' ads ....fun fact: the opening shot season 1 has Ann running into the Seagram Building, designed by Van Der Rohe..375 park ave. This show is full of SO MANY Easter Eggs!!! P.S. Van Der Rohe is an architect.
Sorry, but those chairs are not Barcelona chairs. The have completely different legs. The Barcelona chair does not swivel. You are right about the Seagram building and about Donald's sexyness, though. 🙂
I always wanted a husband who was a combination of Ted and Richard in the "Goodbye Girl". It took me 28 years to find him, but we've been together since 1982. I never did push my husband like this. However, I've cooked for my husband since day one.
I'm glad the show ended b4 they were stupid enough to get married. This couple is a disaster! They have absolutely Zero trust in each other, all too often they accuse the other of some impropriety. In this episode Ann is jealous of the maid, & goes so far as to think the maid could steal Don away from her. Sweetie, if he can be stolen away he's not only hers in the 1st place, he's worth having in the. In another ep. Don's jealous of some old boyfriend of Ann's that she calls Bunny. Really people, Trust is everything, without it, you have Nothing! cuz the lack of trust will create endless tension, arguments & with a year or 2 your in divorce court. God forbid a baby is conceived into a relationship like that. And there are numberous eps filled with jealously.
Many men get into dalliances that are meaningless to them, but could easily cost them their girlfriend or wife. If the lady wants things to go well with her boyfriend, it's probably wise to head off any potential indiscretions ahead of time. Things used to BE this way, before we became this bizarre, stunted 'unisex' culture we have today...
Ironically, this show proved that nice guys finish last and never get the girl. The series ends with Donald and Ann planning to get married. However, actress Marlo Thomas was a feminist and she didn't want the show to end with her being married. So, they never made a wedding episode.
Thank you for posting these great shows of the past.
I love this series. Ann and Donal make a great couple.
I love all of the clothes she wears. They are all back in fashion right now!
5:20 nice to see Don in something other than a suit. Very cute episode.

Thank you! I thought it was my imagination.
Never knew that..
Maybe the 2-year-old girl is related to Ann. But we'll never know.

@@docadams7099 Marlo never had any birth kids. Two step sons via Phol Donohue. I am OBSESSED with Marlo!
Actually I thought Donald was pretty cute in his sweatshirt, mussed hair and day old beard. 🥰

@That was year I was runner-up for Miss Japan.”
I could never understand why Ann was jealous..
Cause she thought she wanted to marry Don
Character VERY competitive😠
"Anyone can rent a sweatshirt, you know." See Ted Bessell as Joe Warner on the Mary Tyler Moore show.
I wouldn't have expected Don to be the slob type.
He's not, they just did that for this episode. He wouldn't have needed a maid if his apartment was neat.
origami !

12:39 Ann 😍
I notice Ann talked normal the first season, then each season she began talking faster & faster and by season 5 it was annoying, very annoying.
Her voice also turned noisy. Very annoying.
She's always such a nag. How could Donald stand it?

It’s just a tv show. You know, for entertainment. Not to be taken as seriously as you apparently are taking it. Chill and enjoy.
It's just a TV show, jealousy here is just a pretext for comedy
@@ٴٴٴٴ_0 Agreed. Some commenters take it too seriously. It's a sitcom, not a documentary.

It was a nice change from all of the other stereotypical sitcoms of the 60s.
