It certainly would be interesting if Maria’s killer was Tom’s grandfather. Not only would it connect Shadow to the Wachowski family, but it would explain why the previous three generations became sheriffs. Much like the retired soldier (Maria’s killer in Sonic X), Tom’s grandfather must have felt so remorseful about shooting a young girl that he became a nonviolent protector of his hometown as a form of atonement, not that he ever managed to forgive himself for it. A very poetic concept if you ask me.
I actually really like this theory, it has so much narrative potential, I would also say if shadow does reform like in adventure 2, this would be the perfect reason for not staying with Tom and Maddie and acts as an anti hero. Cause I don’t know about you but living with the man who is the grandson of your best friends murderer would be very awkward. (I love this theory so much and I hope it’s in the actual 3rd movie, but we’ll wait till December to see if that pans out.)
I literally just came back from the sonic 3 movie trailer and based off the vibes *tom just got added on shadows THE LIST* I am referencing that one sonic twitter takeover joke
I think Shadow *badly* thought of Sonic and his "family" as Maria's murderer·s and so immediately started wanting to kill "em…(but in fact Sonic is adopted in _the movie_ also I don't think their family name is canon in any Sonic game).
The theory is that in the first movie Maddie says that a wachokski Has been protecting green hills for 50 Years and project shadow was also Woth the 50 Year date

That would be an excellent (yet dark) way to keep shadow as rival/enemy in the future movies.
I absolutely love the concept of this. I feel like it would absolutely fit in the Movie universe!
Paramount: oh no lets delete this and never show this again
Sega: I agree with you guys let's delete this for good

Shadow, if you kill sonic, I will make you go and see Maria again.
Welp this ain’t gonna end well
I have a feeling there gonna use the lines in the movie
Это был бы очень клёвый сюжетный поворот!
