Very cool technique. So it looks like it's bleeching the pigment but not burning the fabric. Have you done any testing to see how the material durability is impacted, if at all? I'm not sure how to test, but maybe do a solid half inch bar a few inches long and then wash and dry it a few times to see if there is any extra fraying on the lasered parts?
Thank you! I did read that when engraving denim that it "vaporizes the dye" so maybe it doesn't actually affect the threads. But great idea regarding the testing method. We will have to give it a go.

We haven't done anything as yet. We have a sewing channel (@alandacraft) so we are leaning towards something like a cushion cover or as part of a quilt. I really love engraving on denim. It just looks so impressive.

I got a silly question but : if I want to engrave on denim I can’t put all the close on the machin ? No ? I don’t know if it’s clear 😅
That's not a silly question at all. I haven't tried it myself but apparently you can remove the bottom and lift the machine up. This would allow you to place a pair of jeans or a jacket on the surface.
We just use regular denim jeans. We always make sure to do a test on a small area before committing to the full design. Results can differ between lasers due to many different factors. I'm sorry to hear you had a problem.
The only other fabric we have tried this on is 100% cotton so can't really say whether it would work on canvas or not. It would definitely be worth a try. You could just test it on a small piece of the fabric and see how you go.

I tried it it dose affect it mine pulled apart after engraving
This happened to us the very first time we tried it. We had to adjust the settings until it worked.
