Brave wee Guy, looks very uncomfortable. Must have been relieved to have that gunk out! You seem like a chill dude, by the by. Thanks for helping out my Lizard Bro.
My boy never had those. He had a warm bath every week. He drank a lot of water at the beginning, then as the water rose he swam around for a while until he defecated. At that point I took him out of the water and let him hunt some crickets, so he probably squeezed the glands clean as they were still soft from the bath. He seemed to enjoy that routine.
I’m actually really glad I watched this, imagine if my beardie had clogged pores, and I tried to just straight up take them out without a bath, or a week long process. Poor guy wouldn’t be happy. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I just found clogged pores on our 10 year old male Yoshi. Thanks to your video I was able to get them cleaned without too much stress on him
These are captive bred animals. Yes we do have central bearded dragons in the wild. The coarse surfaces in the wild such as rough substrate, branches and rocks help keep them filed down. Typically they won’t get to an impacted point where they could get infected until about 2-3 years of age. Unfortunately for bearded dragons in the wild, their life expectancy is only about 2.5 years because of predators This means most wild bearded dragons are never effected by minor ailments like this.
Wild animals dont have this problem normally because they are constant exposed to different environment conditions like abrasive surfaces that could eventually knock debris and dirt from pores naturally by walking around. Can't have that when you are in a small box for most of your time.
@@traptinreality2668 I have to kinda disagree. I think a lot of them still have these and other problems which is what can lead to shorter lifespans. The live much longer in captivity with the help of their owners and vet care

As well as this, in the wild, bearded dragons clear their pores by climbing, as they are semi-arboreal. You may notice that many captive bearded dragons are deprived of climbing, digging, rough surfaces, and a proper diet. It’s more of a captive issue based on poor care, is what the natural history suggests! Of course, old age can become a factor eventually, but this is talking healthy young to middle aged bearded dragons.
Thank you so much!!!! My bearded dragon just had a bath and then we noticed that his pores were clogged. Which is strange because we give baths every other day(Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, etc) and they suddenly showed up. We are currently trying to un clog! But if you can give me advice on why they showed up all of a sudden?
So grateful for this video! Came across it completely by chance -not even looking for dragon info. My dragon is now 12 years old (although I doubt she was the age I was told when I rescued her... She may be only just over 11). Anyway, never had any issues so when those lumps developed on the femoral pores, I just assumed that it was a sign of old age... Well, this will be dealt with by bathing and brushing initially! Given the size of them, I think I suspect a simple rub or pull once soaked will do the trick. Also, obviously, I now have serious doubts about her being a female!? That's what I was told... He/she couldn't care less about gender, tbh, always been happy little dragon since joining our family. 😊
I have a female beardie, idk if she gets these because I’ve only had her a year and got her from my mom due to my mom moving to a place that doesn’t allow any pets. I’m learning everyday and have made her terrarium tank to my best abilities to match her and be safe. I do research but I’ve only seen males get theirs popped so I don’t know if it’s a male thing or for both males and females.
Most will never need this type of intervention with the correct enclosure setup. I have 2 boys that are more susceptible to this and I treat every 6-12 months with the bath treatment from part 1 of the video and squeeze every 2-3 year.
I just happened to click this video and got a new dragon yesterday who is two years old and is sitting on my shoulder and I lifted his leg and he has some of these!
Thank you so much! Very informative. I think mine is going into brumation. I'm a little bit worried. He's only 10 months old. Not himself, barely eating crickets. I'm trying my best.
Depending on his size 10 months old is ok to brumate. You can try to turn up the heat and lengthen the day cycle. If he is inclined to brumate you won’t be able to stop him.
I know this video is 3 yrs old but i only just found you. I do love that these videos are here, it helps to learn so much more about my bearded dragon and my one HATES his pore touched. I will always, always soak him before i even touch them, but he will go black, he will huff and puff and i usually have to give him cuddles but i got into the habbit of saying to him 'one two squeeze' and he knows then i give him a few moments. I hate doing it, but i know he cant gwt it all out regardless of the wood and rocks in his viv.
Fascinating. I don’t have a bearded dragon or any pet at all. I started with pimple popping videos to cyst removals then over to tonsil stones and I’ve ended up here. Don’t judge me.
i used to have this amazing little device that sucked out the gunk from whiteheads in my skin. sometimes you'd have to scrape the side to pop it. i wonder if something like that might be more comfortable for reptiles than putting pressure on the skin around it
I've seen a couple of these by now, and I guess what I'm trying to understand is why is as necessary in captivity but not in the wild. Or is it a struggle in the wild that's just part of bearded dragon's lives???
It’s necessary only if the dragon has blocked pores. In captivity a beardies life expos 10-15 years. In the wild it is 2.5 - 3 years with predation being the main cause of mortality. With captive animals, it is our responsibility to ensure the appropriate level of care is provided. In the wild they are generally more active which keeps the femoral pores maintained
You know it’s serious when end up here without owning a bearded dragon or wtf femoral pores are

Not blackheads but close. The femoral pores connect to the femoral gland which is a scent producing organ for marking territory.
✋😂
Imagine doing this to an actual fire breathing dragon
Better do a very good job on that one. Otherwise you're toast LITERALLY.
That's a nope moment
Just drink a fire res potion
@@TheoRO-sl6hh fair point
The zits would probably be the size of your head or bigger
I'm interested in buying a dragon but I'm learning first thank you for this info.
Brave wee Guy, looks very uncomfortable. Must have been relieved to have that gunk out!
You seem like a chill dude, by the by. Thanks for helping out my Lizard Bro.
Thanks mate. Happy to help
I cherish my 2 dragons, 6 bluetounges and 3 lace monitors. Christian was very well behaved. Enjoying the warmth of your hands.
He was great. We love all our animals here too. That’s a solid collection you have there. The Lacey’s would keep the fridge empty 😂
I’m actually really glad I watched this, imagine if my beardie had clogged pores, and I tried to just straight up take them out without a bath, or a week long process. Poor guy wouldn’t be happy. Thank you.
I’m glad we were able to help. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. 👍
From celtic knots to this... This is how to start a new day!
The world of UA-cam is a wonderfull thing 👍
I love it when bearded dragons are just chilling on someone’s chest or shoulder, livin the good life
I don't judge your hobbies, great job.
Thanks mate.
When you somehow end up watching a lizard get its blackheads extracted
Awww poor little critter! I just wanna give him some head pats for being able to stay still
Thank you for this video. I just found clogged pores on our 10 year old male Yoshi. Thanks to your video I was able to get them cleaned without too much stress on him
Thank you for the feedback and I’m glad we were able to help. Is there any content that you would like us to film?
Christian......lol love his name mate👍
Great series this one , thanks for doing number 2 . Keep them coming Ian
Thanks for the support mate. I’m planning on weekly videos now 👍
If something is being pulled or squeezed out of a body I am there. The Aussie accent was just the cherry on top!!
It’s 3am, on a school night...and here I am, watching this masterpiece 🤩
This may be a stupid question, but are these wild animals? If they are, how do they clean them in the wild?
@@mirandac2011 Vitamin A supplementation helps to promote the proper health and function of the skin, and helps to prevent the pores from becoming blocked.
Thank you for asking. I wondered that, too.
I would never own a bearded dragon but here I am , somehow watching this is strangely satisfying.
I absolutely loooved this , thanks for being so sweet to your dragon !
Thank you 👍
Thank you so much!!!!
Awe. Cute little bearded dragon.
He is a little cutie 👍
I was watching speedrun videos how did i get here? I do not even own a bearded dragon, but nice video
Thanks mate. 👍
This is strangely relaxing....
I have no bearded dragon with blocked femoral pores. I in fact don’t even have a bearded dragon but here I am taking notes
I'm actually so glad I found this! Thank you so much because I've always been worried abt these places on my bearded dragon!🙏🏽
same! im so thankful to know how to take care of my beardie better!- i've been worried about his pores too
You are a good dad to your baby dragon 🐲 ❤️
I never gave this a thought before today , but found the video fascinating. Thank you

First thought; your pores, Mr. Beardie, are clogged because you don't floss...
I have acne because I don’t floss my pores?
@@viktorbennett yes
Thanks for the feedback. While females have femoral pores, they aren’t as prominent. You may have a boy though
I came for the comments and I'm dying laughing!!! Also, ahh satisfying unclogged pores... success. Now I can sleep 🌙
I never knew anything about beared dragons. These poor guys. How often do you have to do this?
Most will never need this type of intervention with the correct enclosure setup. I have 2 boys that are more susceptible to this and I treat every 6-12 months with the bath treatment from part 1 of the video and squeeze every 2-3 year.
I just happened to click this video and got a new dragon yesterday who is two years old and is sitting on my shoulder and I lifted his leg and he has some of these!
Hi, did you give your little boy a soak and a scrub?
Poor beardo! They're such a chill lizard
How long does it take for these to develop? Like how often should you check for them? Are males more prone to this than females?
What do they do in the wild with blocked pores?
Thank you so much! Very informative. I think mine is going into brumation. I'm a little bit worried. He's only 10 months old. Not himself, barely eating crickets. I'm trying my best.
Depending on his size 10 months old is ok to brumate. You can try to turn up the heat and lengthen the day cycle. If he is inclined to brumate you won’t be able to stop him.
Yes living the dream watching this at 6 in the morning
I know this video is 3 yrs old but i only just found you. I do love that these videos are here, it helps to learn so much more about my bearded dragon and my one HATES his pore touched. I will always, always soak him before i even touch them, but he will go black, he will huff and puff and i usually have to give him cuddles but i got into the habbit of saying to him 'one two squeeze' and he knows then i give him a few moments. I hate doing it, but i know he cant gwt it all out regardless of the wood and rocks in his viv.
Lizard zits! Who knew! Lol Poor lil dragon all clogged up.
Awesome video, very informative and something I would have not known being a new beardie owner
Happy to help. Thanks for the feedback. 🙏
Fascinating. I don’t have a bearded dragon or any pet at all. I started with pimple popping videos to cyst removals then over to tonsil stones and I’ve ended up here. Don’t judge me.
No judgment, you are one of the honest ones here. Thanks for sticking around 👍
How did I go from Markiplier and Jacksepticeye playing horror games to watching how to care for a bearded dragon's femoral pores?
Ppl commenting from where they started. Tristan paredes to chiropractors to popping femoral pores. Nice
😂😂
I’m confused how got here I started with ammunition and firearms
Honestly how does that connect to this
@@blackcrasanblade the internet is a wonderful place 😂
i used to have this amazing little device that sucked out the gunk from whiteheads in my skin. sometimes you'd have to scrape the side to pop it. i wonder if something like that might be more comfortable for reptiles than putting pressure on the skin around it
Why do i feel satisfaction watching this
😂😂 you are in a high percentage of people that do.
Great video! Never owned a dragon or knew about any of it but that was very interesting and informative!
Thanks for the feedback mate. 👍
How they do that naturaly? Or is this a sideeffect of being a pet?
Looked it up. It is from being a pet cos they will naturally get rid of that build up by rubbing themselves on rough surfaces in the wild.
I imagine with them scurrying over desert-like terrain all day the sand is a natural exfoliant
Him: that one has come out by itself
Me: my pain is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

UA-cam suggestions don’t lie 🤣
I don't have a bearded dragon, but I'm curious, what happens if you don't clean these pores out on a bearded dragon?
Worse case scenario they can become infected and require surgical intervention.
