LeatherRebel.com LeatherRebelBlo... - Check out the website for more lessons from your favorite guitarists! Great Lesson from a great player, Reb Beach.
Truth! Kip knew what he was doing getting each player for the band. Likely as many on here I'm a guitar player but I've always been really impressed with Rod's drumming, dude's technique is awesome and he throws in all kinds of cool fills and tempo changes without seeming pretentious. In fact all the members seem ultra laid back about how good they are, all the stage moves and camera looks aside XD. I think that in popular consciousness, popular 80's hard rock/metal sounds are generally lumped into one genre and referred to as "Hair Metal" but fans of that era can certainly pick out different styles. In my mind Winger was certainly "Hair Metal" but they were one of the few bands to do it right! It's a shame they came out when they did while the genre was loosing steam, they had the chops and songwriting talent to back up the big hair and posturing that was so popular in those days.
Not only is Reb an amazing musician...but he has the most killer sound. I knew he was something really special the first time I heard Winger. Yes...I like what he did with them. God...he was so very young. What a talent...thanks for posting.
Reb's hair was totally on top of its game here. Cascading layers of gently tinted curls that perfectly compliment his eye colour. It doesn't get much better than this people.
The best tapper in my opinion, fell in love with his style the first time I ever heard them which was years ago headed for a heartbreak was playing on the radio and I froze in my tracks when rebs solo kicked in I thought who the hell is this guy he’s amazing! Liquid fast and smooth tapping with great phrasing and all around playing , what a player !
So... Emotion... Does that just mean holding a note whilst making a face? While that does illicit an emotion, that is not the only way to put an emotion into your playing. Reb's shredding is usually in good taste, many of his solos build up to it as a climax leading into the closing choruses. That build up for excitement is an emotion, especially live which I'm sure it is meant for, to get the crowd hyped and ready to sing again while showing off his prowess. Best of both worlds.
He is fucking great. For some reason i bought this 1991 version of this guitar Not knowing winger or white snake I played fear factory on it mostly lol. He cannot appreciate this much lol
That is definitely a matter of opinion. I experience all sorts of emotion in this excerpt. Just because YOU don't feel emotion from this doesn't mean that there isn't any. We all perceive things differently.
Agreed. One unfortunate part of the whole pop culture forcing what's apparently "cool" down people's throat, is that it becomes too easy to dismiss an entire catalog, when they get it wrong :P The video generation only made it worse by adding a visual component... That said, here's a pretty damn cool video ;) from way back whenever (timeless message so it matters very little) /watch?v=1jPsU4DkjSs Rod Morgenstein is one of the most skilled drummers on the planet: /watch?v=PeO5YV3OVUY&fmt=18
mine too. Kirk is just way too sloppy...and not in a good way. I've never liked his solos. They are boring and not creative at all. Reb is awesome and has improved with time to something that not many can touch.
this just doesn't make sense at all. There's loads of musicality in this. Emotion can both be happy and sad - this feels quite intense, thats just another feel than blues players. Doesnt mean theres no "emotion"
Kirk relies too much on the Wah pedal. His playing inspires young guitar enthusiasts. But once you come across fusion or melodic rock such as this, your musical taste outgrows KH's ability and sound.
I love how this showcases Reb yet it still has that Winger sound. I can listen to this over and over.
For those of you that knock Winger, you might want to play those albums again. The musical interplay is amazing. They were unsung, in my opinion.
YAYER...Screw Metallica haha
Totally agree..
Winger has always kicked ass!
I use to walk around everywhere with my headphones on listening to a cassette of winger!
Winger is very underrated, listen to Karma…killer album

Groove, astonishing tone, tapping out of this world. I love this man!
I second that!
This guy is a freaking Beast...what an underrated guitarist omg...he should have in his own G3 tour...with Friedman and Gilbert XD
\m/ Beach/Gilbert/Brata/DeMartini/Lesperance/Lynch \m/
Rob is so underrated. His playing crushes most.
Who the hell is Rob??
@@mr.h5788 lol
@@mr.h5788 bob.. 😂
reb has tons of feel, melody, catchy riffs, lots of tricks in his guitar bag. \m/
Reb is such a unique player, and Winger kicks ass!
"There is no noise, and they are very loud!" Only a guitar player would understand this! :D
Bahahaha
his tapping is as tasteful as satriani's legato. what a feel. we're so lucky that he didn't die at 27. thank you reb :)
absolutely agree, this is one of the greatest riffs WITH FEELING ive eveer heard!
Reb's hair was totally on top of its game here. Cascading layers of gently tinted curls that perfectly compliment his eye colour. It doesn't get much better than this people.
@Dafyd Maddz Bahahahahahahaha
And the combo jeans/leather oil pants. Really tight. Fashion Statement
I love his style of tapping, very unique sounding compared to how most others did it

GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
Thanks a lot for posting and sharing. The whole video series is so good, pure gold.
I'm with you 100%, this song is all about groove and feel. There's absolutely no point in comparing styles.
When his Ibanez RB model come out I just loved it from first sight, nice update on a classic guitar shape and very elegant choice of woods.
Hours and hours and hours of practice. He has one of the most killer sound in guitar.

That magical ring finger... maaaan!
He is fucking great. For some reason i bought this 1991 version of this guitar
Not knowing winger or white snake
I played fear factory on it mostly lol.
He cannot appreciate this much lol
REB BEACH is BOSS . Dont fight it Dont argue!
Just concur! I know i do! >_O \m/
its from the 80's thats why the leather chaps are being rocked by reb and i dont even have to mention the big hair that was so popular in that era
That is definitely a matter of opinion. I experience all sorts of emotion in this excerpt. Just because YOU don't feel emotion from this doesn't mean that there isn't any. We all perceive things differently.
Winger are amazing,very underrated.
sounds great
Cutting Loose and it isn't available anywhere!I downloaded a program that converts video to MP3 and that's how I have this on my ipod now.
saw him yesterday with Whitesnake on the Whitesnake/Judas Priest show...it was fucking awesome, he had a guitar duel with Doug Aldrich...unbelievable
He's got the groove. Only the true greats can kick out a killer rhythm with a groove, and there's only about 5 of them.
Wow. You haven't listened to very many guitar players if you think there are only 5 truly great players that can seriously kick up a groove.
***** No, the problem is that you don't know what a good guitarist is.
jspartacus
Rofl okay. You keep telling yourself that there are only 5 good groovy guitarists while I live in reality.
5? in this whole wide world? LOL I' don't think you've seen it all mate
*****
Two words: Nile Rodgers. You were saying?
@EmKorg I have to completely agree with you.
i would wear leather chaps like those if I could play like reb
Wear m loud and proud to the supermarket..
Reb:in video on parhautta. Haluan tämän videon.
Just saw him at the Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding. Lot's of big names but Reb made the show SOUND awesome
i sense emotion in this...
Bruh that riff at :53
The lick at 3:09-3:11
TY for the video! =D
That was the BBC
so whats the name of the intro song?
Напомню, что Reb Beach написал ровно ноль соло в составе группы Metallica
@tonybloch I SAW HIM HERE ON THE "NUEVO ESTADIO NACIONAL DE COSTA RICA" IN COSTA RICA... they played on the 7/27/11.... IT WAS WICKED SICK
custom ibanez with part of the body shaved?
and thats the best!
What year was this?
If he hadn't joined Winger and gone on to, say Shrapnel Records.....would he have gotten a bigger recognition?
Probably
That's rad
Hello, how are you doing it is nice to seeing you
Who's the type of lenses?
I wish his high end didn't sound so tinny....but it IS a .09 gauge, that' s a problem with shredding

oh god, the interviewer was stevie ray vaughan!
@MrShinigami7 no brasil ?
I really dont think it sounds tinny here tho :P it sounds just right to me.Tho I agree alot of shredders with 9s sound kinda tinny
its so 80s
Is that the song "Seventeen" by Winger?
+SunsetBlvd nopp, its "cutting loose".
Some mega tasty riffing!
300 on
I perceive 2:22-2:27 to be some sweet fucking phrasing!
I perceive Reb at 2:22-2:24 to be GETTING OFF ON IT!!!
\m/
There is something lacks in shredders like Gus G, Chris Broderick... It's called indentifiable style.
@Dafyd Maddz I concur \m/
And the pants.
mine too. Kirk is just way too sloppy...and not in a good way. I've never liked his solos. They are boring and not creative at all. Reb is awesome and has improved with time to something that not many can touch.
Doesn't have to bring that shit up man, everybody from hair metal will kill him
this just doesn't make sense at all. There's loads of musicality in this. Emotion can both be happy and sad - this feels quite intense, thats just another feel than blues players. Doesnt mean theres no "emotion"
Hah svales.. cut!
thats cutting loose
she's only 17......
no.
No doubt the guy is talented, but he is in ...what?! Winger? Mmm....(scratching head)
Id say this guy is better then kirk hammett, but kirks solos are better, there less technical but in general they just sound better.

no emotional play
tomsawyer403 you're hearing something different to me. Did you accidentally click on the wrong video when you went to comment?
@@ANGRLLL He clearly thought this was a Metallica or doof doof techno vid.
