Trekking in the Alay Mountains - Kyrgyzstan (Truly Nomadic Land Trek)

- Having been all over Central Asia for the last 4 years, it's no secret that I love hiking in Kyrgyzstan! So on my most recent visit I was desperate to head south to the Alay Mountains, and check out the brand new 5-day Truly Nomadic Land trek.
This amazing 64km trek goes through some of the best landscapes in Southern Kyrgyzstan, and I couldn't believe just how beautiful it was. I hiked on my own with a guide and a porter, stayed with nomadic families in their yurt camps, met lots of friendly shepherds and climbed to the top of spectacular mountain passes.
Hiking in the Alay Mountains on the Truly Nomadic Land trek was a fantastic experience, even if it was a little challenging for me. The weather didn't always cooperate and the mountain passes were quite difficult, but it was so worth it to learn more about the Kyrgyz nomads' way of life, culture, and of course enjoy the mountain scenery!
