Auckland Island, Jacquemart Island? That's something new to learn. Thanks!
You are welcome!! Im a little nerdy when it comes to geography
Top notch video bro! Oysters are just flavored snot. You’re not missing out 🤮
Thank you! Hahah that is really good to know. If I see em for a decent price I might have to give them a shot lol
Other cool spots down those ways are balancing rock and howells point lookout near riverton, nugget point, cosy nook/cove,gemstone beach and monkey island and the gardens in invercargill are amazing they even have birds and other animals there. The motorcycle museum is worth a look along with the E. Hayes & Sons hardware store who has some of the "worlds fastest Indian" bikes on display
Great list! Thank you for sharing. Nugget Point was something we were hoping to see but we might not make it down there unfortunately.
Never been that far south but the oysters from Bluff, sensational. Great vid thanks
Appreciate your comment, thanks for watching! 🍻😃
Stoked you made it to the bottom of the South and got it ticked off the list… I remember when I made it there, it was great to experience the difference from the north and down through the south…Cheers for another great vid
(I’m one Kiwi who has pretty much travelled all of NZ apart from the West Coast…will get there one day)
Thanks Jane, I couldn’t agree more!! It’s so diverse. West Coast seemed really cool the one day we were there, looking forward to seeing the glaciers out that way in the coming weeks! 😃
Bluff oysters are divine. You transend earthly bonds upon experiencing a raw bluff oyster.
NZ food must try. Bluff oysters, lambs tails, hungi. Mountain oysters optional.
Hahaha jeeze now I feel like I really missed out. Appreciate the other items on the list!
The spelling error was deliberate... for reasons I cannot get into. 😅😂
Very intrepid. Not many NZers venture that far South on the Mainland let alone overseas visitors/new residents. The Caitlins area to the West of Invercargill is well worth a visit too. Cheers.
It is definitely out of the way so I can see why, but that’s another reason why Roxburgh has been a great home base to explore Otago and Southland. The Caitlins do sound nice, thank you for the recommendation! Cheers, John 🍻
keep up the great videos bro. I was born in NZ however i have unfortunately only visited the south island once so its awesome to see your perspective.
Thank you! Yeah the South Island has been really nice, but as someone who lived so close to the Rocky Mountains in Canada I have to say I was really blown away by the beautiful landscapes and beaches on the North Island!
@@donovankelly12 that’s really cool to hear! Even though places like Wanaka and Queenstown are stunning i would take the beaches in northland over the south any day.
If you ever find yourself back up north of Auckland try check out Forestry beach, Tawharanui, Pakari and Te Ari beach if you haven’t already. My favourites.
Yeah it’s awesome how you get that much diversity in the same country!
Thank you for the recommendations, greatly appreciated 🍻😃
Bluff Oysters are phenomenal
Would a person who’s not that into oysters have a better chance of enjoying them? Lol
Didn't get to Slope Point, but did the Catlins Coast which is adjacent. For those who think Slope Point is almost in the Antarctic : fun fact, all of New Zealand (even Slope Point) is nearer to the Equator than Great Britain.
That is a fun fact! Thanks for sharing 🍻😃
I also highly recommend the Caitlins
Oh and I hope you have your tickets for beervana!
Absolutely, looking forward to it! Got a little warm up in Christchurch this weekend at the midwinter beer festival too! 🍻😃
Yes I hope so too. A part of the country I’ve never been but would love to have a look at
Bliff Oysters are arguably the best in the world. BIG fat yummy... You should've had a try...
Thanks for the comment! There’s a place here in Nelson that sells them so we will give them a try 😃
You have seen more of this country than I have ….and I’m 45 and was born here.
Haha…that’s generally the case for most of us
Interesting! I know Canada is a bit larger but there is still so much I haven’t experienced there so I can see why.
If you had to pick your five most favourite places you have visited what will they be (hard decisions)
Ahhh Bailey with the tough questions… lol
5 most favourite spots off the top of my head from North to South:
1. Cape Reinga
2. Hawkes Bay
3. Mount Sunday
4. Wanaka
5. Milford Sound
Yeah! 3 for the South, lol! 😅❤
Never tried Bluff Oysters, might have to give them a go. Would be useful to know what the differences are or what things to appreciate about them compared to oysters from elsewhere.
I don’t know why but google says Bluff oysters are meatier and have a more intense flavour than their cousins around New Zealand. They are arguably best eaten fresh, raw and straight from the shell, but are also delicious battered, served Kilpatrick or in a seafood chowder
From a shellfish hater; I can't stand normal oysters, but I can *tolerate* a battered Bluff oyster 😅 My Dad and sister were always obsessed with them, though. Dad said the best he could describe them was how a pure, clear sea would taste.
Bruh! You went to Bluff and didn't get oysters? If you're nervous of the old snot rocks, just mix with shallot vinaigrette and they go down easy. We'll need a separate video of you eating a dozen. We won't let you off with 1 or 2 now...
Haha the vinaigrette doesn’t make it sound any more appealing. If we come across them I will consider it 🍻
Stewart Island grrrr
My apologies!
Coz settle. Don't be a dick.
