@@noispoi true or not is not really relevant to your question though. You asked why people think he died while doing deadlifts. And well. Because wikipedia said so. We didnt know him. Im not from Iceland. Literally my only source of information about his death is your comment here on youtube and his article on wikipedia. Why would anyone think anything else? Wikipedia probably has more truth than comments on youtube.
can remember him growing up as a kid Geoff capes was my favourite cuz he's from UK but loves Jon pall aswell great video great tribute to a legend..... 💪 💪
Hands down the GOAT.... . Most people who followed him dont even know just how many competitions he was in, how many he won. In addition, when he showed up at the one off pure strength and won 9/10 i believe to take it..looking at how huge he was for that competition should also recognize he won most of his titles much smaller.. If he concentrated solely on strongman, forgot about bodybuilding comps...holy crap!
I never knew Jon cut down to sub 9% bf for bodybuilding that shows again just how disciplined he was. Looking very cut and symmetrical especially for a world class strength athlete. Larry looked phenomenal but Jon looked like a seasoned ifbb pro
I mean clearly the other events are safe as houses. But when you're just a lonely truck driver trying to keep your kid the world is the most dangerous. *cue Over the Top theme*
I watched him blow up an 80's rubber bedheater... thick rubber.. it was about 9"by4" bag of water to warm the feet.. it exploded when that balloon was about a yard in diameter.. when I was 5 years old.. he did it for the crowd! Was awesome!! Literally and metaphorically. 👊🐶🍀🐸🍀💜🌍💜👒🎩🌠
Loved him! Greatest entertainer in strongman history!! But in no way greatest strongman there's been stronger before and since. But watching in his prime years was definitely the most fun.
The only guy who could really make Kaz look human he did that one event vs Geoff Capes and Kazmier in Scotland and completed some events that no one else even got 1\3rd the way unbelievable
Ya know, they always say that Jon Pall lacked the brute or raw strength and power of say like a Kaz, or an OD Wilson, or even a Jamie Reeves. That may be the case, it's a very reasonable argument. But even so, JPS was insanely strong in his day. Elite, world class level strength for his era. And in the 1987 Pure Strength Contest, he came in at over 300 pounds. At that contest, I don't think there was a man on earth that was stronger than him.
How can a guy who used steroids be regarded as the best ever? Everything he "accomplished" has to have an asterisk next to it. I get that Jon Pall was charismatic and all, but he still juiced. The guy who should be a little pissed is strongman, Geoff Cape, who was runner-up to Jon Pall multiple times in the 80s. Capes' power came naturally, hard work in the gym, and he did it clean. JMO
i remember the blonde guy was my favourite when i used to watch these as a kid...watching these now, hes still my fav strongman ever. RIP
There is nothing greater than dying doing what you love.... I hope I may pass with honor like him. Thank you for your Jon Pall videos they bring up much emotions.
He was quite a character. Always saw him on wsm when I was growing up. So sad that someone so full of life was cut short.
I think it's worse to grow old and lose your habilities.
More saddening that his wife married his gym buddy.
Beeing a wsm means alot of pressure for a human heart + steroids. Not every one has the luck to survive that
@@morten8586 he had a hereditary heart defect. Steroids didn't cause his ruptured aorta, but they probably didn't help.
The Brightest lights shine the Shortest...
Jon Pall was the first great showman at WSM. Strength and Charisma. A force of nature...
Bill Kazmaier
But also a very nice guy.
Your right bro 😢😢😢
True Legend !!! Rest in peace Jon Pall !!!
Jon Pall will always be my all time favorite
this guy had total control in strength and personality a legend and the strongest man for me allways never been forgotten.
His talent was outstanding. We will never see strongmen like him again, he is a true legend and one of the most athletic strongmen in history.

My friend Jon pal sigmarsson we pumped iron in Glasgow 1990 until is sad passing on December 1993 in Reykjavik Iceland godbless the Viking worrior
6:25 Jón Páll’s biceps are the only ones that equal Arnold Schwarzenegger’s and Lee Priest’s arms. Absolutely massive and incredibly looking.
Rest in Strength, Jon Pall Sigmarsson!
The king has rocked his crowd
My favourite strongman, unique, legendary, too young to pass away
he was bigger then life its self.. amazing strengh n personality.. may the viking rest in peace
Does strongman, does bodybuilding and armwrestling. He would have been a UA-cam star today
would not stoop to that sewage.
JP should have been in movies with that charisma!
