Even with a nice presentation, it's just never been my impression that Jameson is interested in giving us anything too bold or distinctive. Cheers!

I do agree with you Tim but I also do enjoy their core range. They're cheap and good for what they are. I was hoping to get more from this but maybe in the future. Cheers

I enjoy the Jameson SPS, but yeah, I wish they released whiskeys with more information and breakdowns of the blends etc!

Glad to know your take on this, I was curious of what you'd say. Let's see maybe we'll get more expressions in the future.

Nice one buddy. I have had a couple of bottles of the Jameson SPS now. It's not bad. It's certainly not the best SPS that Midleton is putting out but...not bad. Cheers.

@@WhiskeyNovice Yeah not bad but not great either and I just felt it had no character. Waiting for an ex-bourbon one maybe. Cheers Jim 🥃

Thank You for interesting review.. Due to a various reasons I prefer Irish whiskies over Scotch. Not a big fan of core range Jamesons, but I love Irish Single Pot Still whiskies (Spot series, Redbreast, Powers, Teeling (especially Wonders of Wood Virgin Chinkapin Oak)), so I decided to purchase a bottle of Jameson SPS. Still unopened. Now I’m curious to try it 😊.

Thank you for watching it 😃
I myself generally am a Scotch man with a few Irish whiskies that I enjoy. Unfortunately I absolutely hated the Teeling Chinkapin Oak. At the same tasting I also tried the Glen Allachie Chinkapin Oak and hated that one as well so it's the wood. I do not enjoy the Red Breasts I tried (12,15,21) but I love the Green Spot Wine cask series and the Yellow Spot. I have a long way to go in the Irish whiskey world so let's see.
I hope you like this one, cheers 🥃

@@thewhiskyenthusiast Thank You for reply. Absolutely agree with You concerning Green Spot wine finishes and Yellow Spot-these are stunning Irish whiskies! Speaking about Teeling WOW Chinkapin Oak-I do understand, that this kind whiskey (fully matured in virgin oak) can be too much for some whisky/whiskey drinkers, but then again this Teeling series is Wonders of WOOD for a reason 😊. You could say, that producers use virgin oak to mask young spirit and that is at least partly true. Matt from “The Whiskey Nerd” said, that Teeling WOW series is approx. 8 years old. I guess Jameson SPS is even younger…

I bought 3 bottles and was not disappointed. Imho it tastes very similar to Powers John's Lane, which is as high a praise can get.

Interesting, I haven't tried it, I wonder how it compares to the Dingle Pot still, which is probably of similar (young) age...but why the hell did they add on the recipe virgin oak (which besides, is emphased on the label, written bigger than other cask types) ! At least they could have kept Irish oak for a more "local" take on it, but toast it/char it a bit...and it seems you agree if I understood you well...too bad....I guess they wanted it to be different from the Red Breast..and as you said probably not targetted to us. And it is pricey here, so not in hurry to taste it, tbh. Cheers !

Irish, American, European Virgin Oak as long as ex-bourbon and sherry just made it a confusing dram. It's not a bad whisky but it's not great. I'm hoping they're on the right track to give us some interesting single pot still whiskies, let's see. Cheers Greg
