But the vanity light is never hot since it can be switched on and off. It means that switch needs to be on for the mirror to work? Can someone confirm this thanks
Yes, that is true. The switch will have to be on for the mirror to light up. When I installed mine, I used separate switches for the mirror light and the main bathroom light.
@@gmzmotors2467 it sounds like you are asking if the mirror can be wired hot all the time. It can be, but then you would have to use the touch button on the mirror itself to turn the light on and off.
no, rectangle is fine as it is just a junction. round is required when fixture is hanging from the box. the “knockouts” should not be removed though as they are actually clamps and the cable is required to be clamped into the box or stapled within 12”
Don’t try this on your own when creator didn’t tell you which wire is what ?this is definitely not a how to video . Search fix this old house on UA-cam he shows exact steps including how to tell which wire is live the gauge that should be used ect !

Can you turn the light off and still use the led mirror light?
No
You need one battery powered or add a switch
No because he “pigtailed” them together. You would have to put it on a separate switch if you want to turn off the light but still use the mirror.
