I got my first ever pair of Birkenstocks this past summer and I can’t believe it took me so long to finally try them! I highly recommend that you do get a pair in the coming spring.
My first Arizona in the ‘90s, introduced by a family member. I wore with socks as advertised then, but only sparingly due to its appearance. The more I mellowed, these became a summer fave until the wax on the cork wore out from the heat. Second pair 30 years later and they feel like my first. Definitely a fan.

Edit: I still won’t buy sandals, I’m either in low profile shoes or barefoot on the beach during the warm seasons. Although, as a regular beach goer, I can assure y’all that closed toed shoes are superior to sandals for walking or running in the sand. That’s especially true for those SoCal beaches that require quiet a bit of walking in sand to get to the water.
Great history lesson. I say get a pair. There is more to life than just looking formal. A well rounded person experiences everything to allow for self discovery of their multiple dimensions. Great to see you again!

In my 20’s had a female friend who swore by these shoes. I named them DWAMS ( don’t want a man shoes). Now here I am years later considering buying my first pair. Good thing I’m already married. LOL 😂

I don't wear sandals either, However I've found the perfect summer/beach shoe, the boat shoes by Crocs, these are not your regular weird looking Crocks but ones that look like docksiders instead but with the same level of comfort as a regular pair of Crocs, making them perfect shoe for the beach (have you tried walking in the sand with flip flops?) with these boat shoes by Crocs you can walk perfectly on the beach and if they get wet by the water they are fine as they are waterproof, and they last forever as Crocs do. I don't know if they still make them, I bought 3 pairs back in 2015 and still going strong.
Love my birkenstocks. They are the bridge between the ease of access you get with slides and the quality of welted footwear and cork footbeds. It's my most worn piece of footwear, if I'm going to the store I'll wear them spring, summer, winter, or fall.
The second you put them on you know they're great. My father and mother wore them, I thought they were extremely hideous. Now I own 2 pair, one Arizona and one rip-off from Mango. I have the same experience with things between my toes, a horrible feel.

They were navy blue suede and I think they were Arizona type but instead of having a square joining to the footbed, the 2 straps were one piece and had a v shape. I had them resoled twice and finally pitched them in 2001. I would love to have another pair. Do you know the name of that style, 2 straps like the Arizona but one piece that attached to the inside of the sandal, Thanks

You can get them there, but it's a crapshoot and the odds favor getting counterfeits. Birkenstock stopped selling there because their real Birks were piled in the warehouse with the fake and damaged ones from third party sellers, and the bad ones got sold as authorized Birkenstocks. So they stopped selling there. If you want to be sure, buy from Birkenstock themselves or an authorized dealer.
So they “stuck it to”Amazon, then it’s a good brand. I’m sold.

Great video! I wear my Birkenstock Londons in the OR as well as in the cadaver lab. My Arizonas are great for walking around the neighborhood.
You won't regret buying the Arizona. It breaks in beautifully, so much so that I even had my resoled.
