Tomas Eklund he mentioned, that even tho he enjoys making videos very much he also doesnt want to pump out a video every week. He feels that it would be better if he just uploaded, when there is something awsome to share. Also he mentioned, that he wants to try to spend less time on his smartphone. A digital detox, so to say. Im also quite curious what is comming next about the mmx
I have loved your marble blocks and marble pump with my kids for years. This is too cool. I appreciate the musical quality you added in with the metal and different wood elements. I love your work.
You are by far my wood working idol. I've learned a lot of tips and tricks from your videos that I've utilized in my own DIY projects around the home. Thanks for your informative and interesting videos.
Mathias you rock! Hope you get past the tendinitis soon and get back to making. Till then it’s great to see you revisiting past projects bringing fresh eyes and that open minded critical and reflective approach: top class!
Another great resin video! My wife actually wants us to get some resin and have a play in the workshop soon. All these videos you’ve been doing recently have been a huge inspiration! Thanks 😁
1. I bet it was great to see your old marble machine come out of storage after moving house. 2. Good for you for storing/backing-up the old video properly. 3. I love your longer videos.
I made this from your plans several years ago. It is on a table in my mud room. Everyone who comes through the door plays with it. I’m ready for another one!
I really liked the original series but I also love the freshness of this one, same with your box joint jig build. I think editing is something that takes time to get right and 12 years have been very good to you in that respect (although your editing has always been top-notch). Really glad to see that you're keeping active on UA-cam with what you can do despite the arm issues.
i'm glad you are finding cool stuff to do on your channel when you need to be resting your muscles, and i'm glad that I get to be reminded of this project.
The marble machine, along with the marble binary calculator, was what brought me to Matthias Wandel's channel, so many years ago. They still are fascinating pieces of machinery.
Just in time for Christmas! I think every Grandfather should make one of these for his grandchildren so they have a showpiece to remember him by loooong after he's gone :) YOU Matthias Wandel are the man to follow and learn from. Thanks for linking the plans and details. So, a couple of hours you think? :) Excellent in every possible way, if I start tomorrow, I may have it finished by Christmas Eve, with me luck! A+++ Thumbs UP as always!
When I was young, my grandfather made a simple marble run for me out of strips of molding with simple linoleum "curves". It was totally manual - put the marbles in at the top and they'd roll down the switchbacks to the bottom pie pan and be collected. It was one of my favorite toys and one that I've never forgotten! That was entertainment in the early 50's! Good luck with your design and build. Your grand kids will love it!
@@petemac7969 I found a marble pin-ball machine in my grandparents attic and it was basically a spring launcher (verticle rack) and the marbles simply bounced from pin to pin on their way down to the bottom and fell into random slats that had alphabet and # marks on them. Maybe for early gambling? I sat in that attic and marveled at something so old, with the craftsman's hand evident in the construction and finish painted details. Wish I'd asked to have it, but it's gone. I'm inspired.
Ich habe die Murmelmaschine nachgebaut und dem Kindergarten geschenkt. Danke für die Pläne Matthias, die ich bei dir kaufen konnte und die tolle Idee!!!
This format is more efficient, yes, but also misses the in-depth explanations and occasionally very satisfying moments of the earlier video series. Thank you for making both.
@@matthiaswandelI did this week! Years ago when I first found your channel, I watched the prior videos. Thank you again for making them, you helped me figure out some sticky problems in my own projects at the time.
Oh my gosh, I remember this machine from years and years ago when I was reading your old website as a kid! That was one of my favorite websites, back in the days where a kid could have "favorite websites".
Nice video rebuild Matthias! An excellent overview for those who do not know of, or are not prepared to watch, your original videos on the subject. If they intend to build I expect they will watch those too. I really like the thought you put into your products and the attention to detail in your builds. I think your product makes attractive entertainment for both adults and children!
I appreciate your efforts to condense these projects to make them more palatable to a wider viewerbase but I must say that I really enjoyed the longer and more verbose multipart videos. The original series on the marble machine was a very good watch. Thanks, always look forward to your uploads!
the sound on the "xyloboard' part was great! I hope you do more wood working projects with musical wooden plates. I bet you could make something that sounds amazing.
Nice, what a great idea to edit your previous content. This was a great video. The details were just enough and the narration was great. I will be trying to build this myself in the future.
Reading the English closed caption is the funniest part of any of Matthias' videos. It goes to show that what you say is not actually what someone hears.
Keep up the good work. Subscribed, liked, and appreciated. Very like to watch this. This man always knows what to make. Give him a bandsaw, drill press and a few other tools and some materials, he will make you anything And with 1 million subs you don't put ads, don't have any nonsense intros and outros, which only a few channels managed to stay good.
Cool. I love „Kugelbahn“ (German!) And my Piano-students too! Of corse. My self built “Kugelbahn” is hanging at a metal door in the waiting room of my music school “Klimpertaste”. Wood pieces with strong magnets. Mathias, I take some ideas of sound effects and integrate it in my door marble world. Thanks for all your films in UA-cam. Soundy greetings from Germany! Uwe
This is actually what got me onto your channel, I dont think the originals are too long, but I enjoyed rewachting this despite being briefly disapointed that youndidnt make a new one :)
How did I miss the original videos? This is an awesome machine! I do have plans for your other marble machine which is a bit more customizable with interchangeable ramps, etc. But I like this one much better!
In video marble machine 3.0 Matthias will add an Esscher like construction that will make the marbles appear at the top again, once they get to the bottom, making turning the cogwheel obsolete. It defies gravity but if one man can do it, it's Matthias. Great build, good luck with the tendinitis
Love that figure 8 gear lift.
No demagnetizer necessary :)

6:20 “Retroactive Precision” - my new favorite phrase 😂
Austin McCleery I LOLed and actually it’s kind of true-no more wiggle!
I concur!
Yeah I'm going to use that one for sure
Apparently I use a lot of retroactive precision in my woodworking. Never knew it.
I feel Retroactive Precision, Percussive Maintenance and Iterative Planning are the cornerstones of my professionalism.

I do too.
Especially wooden gears, which are drop-dead-GORGEOUS!

Your marble machine videos are the first ones UA-cam recommended to me, and why I subscribed to your channel.
The marble machine, along with the marble binary calculator, was what brought me to Matthias Wandel's channel, so many years ago. They still are fascinating pieces of machinery.
There’s a marble binary calculator?
@@mcMineoc Yep, it's a binary adder. Check Matthias' list of videos - it should be some 6, or more, years old.
