A lot of guys don't do pull ups because of their weight but it's a huge advantage once you can do them they will make you much stronger not to mention adding muscle mass. I was doing sets of 15 at 235 lbs and it changed my whole look. Great video!
You won’t see it on UA-cam because ppl get tired of giving out free info and trying to help others that don’t deserve it. I look at half the comments and cringe
I’m really appreciating the fact that horizontal training carries over to vertical pulling more than the other way around this morning as I train my back!!
I couldn't even do a pull up a few years ago and now I can get about 5 or 6 at 290 lbs. Something that really helped me that nobody really talks about was basically half reps and then 3/4 reps and so on until I could start from a full dead hang.
Great info as always Matt. I’ve been using the band for some high volume pull up work and the best way I’ve found to attach it is to put the J cups in the rack under the pull up bar and wrap the band around the outside of the J cups. I’ve found this really helpful because I can raise and lower the band to get more or less assistance as needed, plus it’s much less likely to bust you in the face!!
I am fairly husky at 231 right now, and I can still squeak out 12 pull-ups. Everyone looks astonished that I am doing pull-ups at my weight like it is some magical feat despite the fact that everyone on the planet should train pull-ups.
Hi matt , would it be possible to do a video for military personnel regarding exercises to help with the carriage of heavy loads on patrol over arduous terrain for long periods? ..thanks
i used to do pull ups but now i think i have a pinced nerve somewhere when i hang from pull up bar my wrists shake and struggle. is that a sign of disease or something.
Great tips thanks! Do you like using a box to get up and do negatives? They’re tough but I think very effective as well-sometimes can only do a couple slow but they helped me get my pull-ups back up after a significant nerve injury and subsequent lat weakness. Single arm rows were big as well
What are your thoughts on bodyweight sets to failure for exercises like pull ups and dips? Is it useful or is it better to just push progression by adding weight
@@WenningStrength own the fact that you resort to clickbait. You argue why anyone would want to post to UA-cam, why would I want to financially commit to your patreon?
Thank you very much sir! I just applied the ratchet 5 second hold thing to bodyweight rows and my back contracted way more than before. Usually I feel my arms a lot even though I try to focus on the back. This will help a lot with my technique.
I was just talking with the ladies at the gym about wanting to get better at pull ups. Great info. I love that I can search Wenning anything and info comes up. I can't wait to apply these things. Thank you for sharing 🤗
I'm watching alot of very strong people - mostly powerlifters, on UA-cam. Top end athletes. Some of them strong beyond believe while beeing abit leaner. And most of them do 14-16max if they are 115kg+. As I said - no hate. Imho with your weight that's just not possibile. I'm amazed by your content and I know you're world class powerlifter. Alot of respect to you sir. ALOT. But 25 strict pullups is impossible at that point. My previous comment wasnt too polite - my apologies
Sorry Matt, My comment might be harsh. I followed you for years, but that is not a pull up and you know this. If you decide to blame lagging Rom on injuries and flexibilty, keep in mind that you should work on these areas, just like you would in a squat.
There was actually nothing in this video about “pull-up progression” from the point of someone who can already do pull-ups and just want to progress to more reps and heavier weight so realistically the video should be titled “progression to your first pull-up” or something
@@WenningStrength Not a complain, just a fair comment since I came to the video to learn how to increase pullups for someone who can already do 25+ (mainly based on the image of you doing 25 @ 285) Thank you for putting quality content, much appreciated!

thank you for that comment on rows being basically more useful... most seasoned lifters will tell you that in person but not many on youtube
Agree. Vertical pulls are the best lat builders but for overall back development, shoulder stability, and carry over, rows are the go to

Sadly can relate...
man this channel is so valuable! probably the best. channel on UA-cam. Jeff cavalier need to step aside and let you take his place

Negative Pullups are the real deal.... also holds at the top for 10-15 seconds and lowering down in 10-15 seconds.

You’re strong as shit Matt, I thought me doing 20 pull-ups at 210lbs was impressive, but doing 25 at 285lbs is jus out of this world man.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was waiting for you to do actual pullups for reps.
What is wrong with you ppl??? I show you guys info free and you Wana call me out??? No wonder no one wants to put anything out on UA-cam
😂 I didn't even realize he didn't do the 25 pull ups till you commented. Good video though 💁🏻
I can see him doing more than 25 if he swung a little tho. Ain't nothing wrong with a little swing at the end for them extra reps. Watch larry wheel 😂
Wenning Strength Not trying to call you out or anything, the thumbnail says 25 pullups at 285lbs so I was expecting to see 25 pullups.

The best I’ve done was 14 reps at 220 ish. Hammer grip I have no doubt you did 25 Matt. Great content as always!
Great work!!!
Best I’ve done 29 at 245 regular. Easily 35 with hammers they r way easier.
Mike B let’s see a video then

Why is everyone calling out Matt? Apply his advice to YOUR workout, instead of testing a WR holder.

There is a Soviet Union flag in the gym
There's an even more worrisome flag in this video..
free palastine !
Hey brother, if you’re 285 pounds you’ve gotta be wicked freaking lean. Because you don’t look like you weigh that much.
💯💯💯💯 15% at the time of that video
Does the israeli flag mean you dont like palestinians matt, i love your content and need to know your view on the palestinians
I don’t have any views on that
At what point do you do 25 pullups in the video? Sorry but I dont believe you :) no hate
Why would I lie ?? Brother I have to prove absolutely nothing. You should be ashamed to even try to call me out
