  • In this episode of Minutes With, former city trader Gary Stevenson reveals more about his extraordinary life making millions as the world's best trader in London. Despite being expelled from school at age 16, Gary persisted and won his dream job in a global bank by mastering a card game, even though it was rigged against him. In this episode, Gary reveals how it feels to win $35 million betting on an economic downturn, the bizarre ways millionaires act on the trading floor and why he walked away from banking to warn the world about rising wealth inequality. I was so excited when I started trading crypto. I thought I was going to make tons of money. And at first, I did! I made some really smart trades and watched my account grow. Understandably, I got a little too confident.
I started taking bigger risks, thinking I could keep winning. But then, everything changed in just one week. The market took a turn, and suddenly, all my gains were wiped out. I lost everything I had worked so hard to earn. It was a tough lesson to learn, but now I know the importance of being cautious and not letting greed take over.

Yes, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. I’m 60% up in profits just in 2months with my initial capital of $160k with.

A while back, I put money I needed for emergencies into investments, hoping for quick gains. It backfired, and I lost a lot. Now, I'm much more intentional with my investments, only using money I can afford to lose. It's taught me to prioritize my financial security and be cautious with investments. If you're thinking about investing, remember to prioritize your financial stability first.

Can't deny the fact that Abel Dorsey is the strongest bet to bring power back to this industry after we suffered FTX, Celsius, Tera and so on. Sure if they fail it's done for good, but I don't see that the biggest tech company in the world would put everything at risk just for that.

I appreciate you and your content < Technical Analysis is good but I find It truly baffling that major crypto youtubers just look mostly at pure T.A and completely ignore the bigger narrative of why BTC is pumps/pumped and why the future outlook will be even rosier than it seems. It's kinda irresponsible to ignore the fact that each ETF launch so far has caused a major dump at the peaks of BTC. We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale pumps, narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. More emphasis should be put into day trading as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market. I have made over 27 btc from Abel Dorsey insights and charts, its been one step ahead of other analysis….

    Great insights!
Unfortunately trading isn't for me... I've had too many unsuccessful attempts in the past.
My wife and I have a budget, but we rarely use it whatsoever. That doesn't mean we spend frivolously. We buy most groceries that we want on sale most of the time, we rarely upgrade our tech, and we each have hobbies that we monitor closely. If anything, the budget is mostly for hobby stuff, but we always underspend according to the budget just because we don't look at it as a meter that should be filled.
It's important to always make room for your investments, no matter how little it may be. It'll definitely come in handy in the future

I'm learning this doesn't have to be as complicated as some people make it out to be. Thanks to Abel Dorsey for helping me get into its trading server and investing guidelines. Investing and trading are more than just having TA skills. There is a big component of discipline and emotional maturity, that one has to work on! Time in the market vs. timing the market. If you keep that mentality as an investor, you will stay calm during the storm! Within some months I was making a lot more money and have continued on that same path with.

Yes, truly, investing in the market, even if it's just the S&P 500, can keep up with inflation, because the growth rate of stocks will always exceed the inflation rate. But if you don't have the courage, you could just invest with a financial advisor, which even has greater return on investments, while securing your investment against losses.

Yes, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. That's where my manager comes in, to help me with entry and exit points in the industries I'm engaged in. Can’t say I regret it, I’m 40% up in profits just in 5months with my initial capital of $160k.

Yeah, people actually make much from the market, although they usually have more expertise than average, or they use experts i.e hedge funds or fin.advisers. There's a goldmine in the market and that's why almost every rich person buys into it one way or another.

I think they should teach this in schools as without this i don't think i would ever be able to afford house for my family. I know people who made millions, people who made a couple of thousands and people who lost money. I do believe with you can make safely money with investing but it needs LOADS of research. I know some of my bets will bring 2-3 times my investment but very often i need to wait literally years to see the economy turn around. 2022, 2023 i basically only lost money and my bet is that we finally see good opportunies through 2025. This is again the time when people accumulate wealth, then again few shitty years to come.

And then the Korean one... about the deal making, and knew about the back ground info etc. Well... now everybody knows everybody else from social media. What exactly is there to know ? lol..... "Standard" of living ? No living more like. lol. So many NGOs... I recently asked a super dumb question.... "if one of the financial city, like HK... is now gone.... and that they are receiving in NGOs.... then where are the companies gone to" ??...... "I thought that only third world countries, would receive NGOs and charities."..... So then it means we rolled upwards. And that now, Oligarchs are as big as banks. Hence, why in the past, private banks were created to shield away from the chaos. And why some countries never had banking. So then they have wealth family offices instead.... I suppose, this is a better way.
And the reality ? The reality is also that... those families will help their own families as well... so ... therefore, they would make their next of kin, with their lives much much easier.... i.e. To do simpler jobs. Hence, why we always import in actual migrants, right ? Cos it is their actions and movements, that make the situation too... Similar to the war...

I wish i had worked harder and been more focused as a kid, because i would have loved to be a full time trader.
Not too late yet though. Trading has become more and more meritoctactic and available to the masses. As long as you put in the work and get an edge, you can be successful. Theres the hope for me. BBB for my fam.

Suits and acronyms and the insane hunt for internships. I remember this so well. I was in business school the same time, not LSE but the equivalent in the Nordics. I also came from the same type of background from the working mans areas, and experienced the same attitude from the trust fund kids, that they treated one as if you were a simple. But that did change fast once I started outperforming them in class and grades. This while interview was a nostalgia trip for me. Different country but my experience was the same. Never became the best trader though. So well done. Personally I decided to actively avoid financial banking as the circus was just too much for me. Great interview.

I don’t understand something. It is enough to watch a few proper documentaries on Utube on how British empire fell and how the tax havens were created, how the City and banks are above the law, watch films about 2008 crisis and watch the world around you and see how middle class is becoming extinct. Don’t average people in the UK see this?? and rebell? I am foreign here and have observed this for years now…

Middle class is becoming extinct because it’s not economically viable unless you don’t mind been fucked over often the hardest workers earning between 100,000 - 300,000 pay ridiculous taxes it’s just like animal farm the pigs bent the rules in order to profit from the system so the donkey decided to do as much as he needed to survive and nothing more because faith in the system had been lost

@@brettharter143 - Wait...are you inferring that the middle class isn't being wiped out in America? I can tell you in no uncertain circumstances that is NOT the case. Don't take my word for it - the Small Business Administration just reported that 43% of small businesses weren't able to afford their rent for April. It's global, and it's driven entirely by greed.

People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.
