I really like her in this movie: sad, weary-wise, lonely, and bewildered by life's ups and downs. She and Laurence Olivier would have been fantastic in Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She is so good in this movie.
Vivien did chose the wrong man, Olivier. Truth to tell, he was destructive to her and to her acting; however, he was able to only minimally affect the later, which I'm sure disposed him.
I think she was the better film actress. He thought film work was secondary to the theatre, and was instrumental in Viven not making more films, becuse of this view.
Olivier, was a Cad! He said he loved Vivien, but, was exhausted by her. Said, he couldn't take anymore. So, he shacked up with a younger Joan Plowright, whom he was working with at the time. He didn't deserve Vivien!
It's so sad that in those days women her age is considered old. She is apparently still very attractive and full of life. Women are in our prime time in our 40s 50s and even 60s.

I consider Bette Davis the best actress of all time but, in the right roles, nobody was ever better than Vivien Leigh. And even the great Bette never reached the heights of Vivien as Blanche DuBois.
Oh dear. Davis was all affectation, and hammy moves. If she didn't have a cigarette in her hand she was lost. Katherine Hepburn the same. Hindered by that awful voice-like a knife on a plate.
Did her voice get naturally deeper when she got older? or is this part of her acting? So different from Scarlet O'Hara. I wouldn't even recognize it was Vivien Leigh, the way you usually think of her.
@@brunoj.h1924 It wasn't "four packs a day" throughout her life. It was mentioned in Anne Edwards biography about VL, that she did smoke that much during the GWTW filming. There was a lot of stress in making GWTW and VL was basically in all the scenes and she carried GWTW movie on her back with the "Scarlett" role. But yes, she was a smoker.
Larry didn't deserve Vivien! My Dear Vivien Leigh, The best actress and the most beautiful in history! Bravo, Viv, Bravo!
Such a beautiful and great actress. I love her accent too. She was amazing and will be forever remembered
I totally agree... What a brilliant actress... Such a pity she did not appear in more films...
i love this scene, Vivien as amazing as ever. and the truth in her acting is heartbraking
Wonderful Vivien Leigh, in a great, great movie.....!!!!
Wonderful Vivien most beautiful 🌹🌹🌹🌹❤❤❤❤
That dialogue was so close to her true life , perfect Facade of a marriage at the end yeah initially wonderful
As she got older, her voice deepened....
That happens with age, and smoking cigarette's, too.
Everyone’s does- including women
Here is to all the greats!

Vivien had told Olivier some time previously that she didn't love him anymore. What did you expect him to do?
And he was as gay as a picnic basket.....I.know because so am I.
Yet she did have a long affair with Peter finch prior

her voice was like that because of the cigarettes. she smoked about 4 packs a day since she was very young.
