So smart and beautiful, her pronunciation is so delightful to hear, no “um” “uh” etc. just a stunning person. I am happy that at least the only thing in common with her is that we were born in the same century, And I get to watch her movies. ❤️
A more calm, gracious, low-key, professional event than awards than awards shows are now. I like how the people in this video shook hands rather than kissed.
Charming, witty, and of course....stunningly beautiful. I wanted to be her as a young girl, and this is why. She is truly one of kind. Thank you for posting this Kendra, what a treat!
@@takokvrivishvili9180 during her time actors spoke with a transatlantic accent, especially Katharine Hepburn. It’s not a regional accent, it was specifically made for the upper class and the stage. They tend to pronounce words like military like militry if that makes sense lol I think transatlantic/mid Atlantic is a mix of American and British phonology
Listening to the nominees for best play, one is amazed at how many classic plays were produced in just one year back then. Nowadays they are lucky to have even one superior play per year.
What a brilliant year for the theater A raisin in the sun, The miracle worker, The best man so forth. I read the highlight of the theater season was 1950's and 1960.
Vivien Leigh would not have sounded so hoarse back at this occasion had she not smoked heavily. I wish she had retained her lovely voice which we can hear at her reception of the first Oscar in 1940.
And this is 21 years AFTER Scarlett O'Hara! So beautiful and SO classy! They don't make them like her anymore!
They rarely even made them like her back then. Stunning indeed!
Vivien was a rare combination of beauty and TALENT!
The Tony for the best trip through the tables goes to that guy.
Gorgeous woman, full of class, an actress of great accomplishment, and one of the true "greats".

4:10 w/ arguably the #1 GREATEST actress in the annals of cinema, domestic & WORLDwide!
Truly a blessed event!!! ❤❤
RIP dearest Ms. Leigh! ❤❤❤❤

She is incredible beautiful and very educated here. A Lady !!!! Beautiful dress that fits her perfectly well.
I adore Vivien's dress! Such a beauty and a gracious intro from Eddie Albert.
I love this!! I love her diction. Especially the way she says “Eddie” & “guitar”. What a pretty dress. She looks fabulous!
She kinda had Welsh accent, didnt she? i love how she says ,,Very" ,,Positively"
@@takokvrivishvili9180 isn’t that transatlantic?
@@jule3146 Actually i have no idea lmaooo

@@jule3146 Interestingly, of the four main players in GWTW, Ms. Leigh achieved the most authentic Southern aristocratic accent.
Can't believe she died only seven years later. Her voice has changed so much.
She was a heavy smoker thus such drastic change in voice
@@namaankhan8306 or because she had TB?
She smoked so heavily and also enjoyed gin and tonic
Hermosa, elegante, encantadora, una mujer con clase. Ya no existen mujeres así.
Vivien certainly kept her lovely figure; that's for sure.
A delightful lady and brilliant actress 😍😍😍

Sadly just 7 years left for The 46 year Old leigh. 🏴❤
They should've all stood and cheered her!
She is exquisite.
How lovely, and The Miracle Worker is an excellent story too, well deserved win.

Wow that was a great year for plays.
So beautiful Vivien 💓💓💓
So beautiful Vivien ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She's lovely and Arthur Penn is charming. I wished we still lived in a world where grace and beauty were the norm. Alas, that time is . . .
She looks fabulous!
An out of this world talent and beauty
This was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this:)
So hard to believe she was what a star was once and now we have crud like LIZZO.
Perfection
i wish someone could dig up a video/kinescope of leigh's appearance on late night tv with arlene francis...
So gracious and elegant not like the tacky loudmouths no talents on the stage now
Wonderful accolade to Vivien by Eddie

+Bluejeans0701 What is the point of this comment?
I just lament that Vivien Leigh was a smoker.
Everyone was back then!
Bluejeans0701 i agree
More to do with the fact that she suffered from T.B for over 20 years.
That was the same year that she & Larry Olivier divorced. She looked like she was doing very well.
Such a far, far cry from today's award shows.
Could someone please tell me what age Vivien Leigh was here ? thank you :) !
46 going on 47
Thank you :)
47
What's her accent I never heard this British accent nowadays
That is because nobody speaks properly nowadays.
That is because nobody speaks properly nowadays. Miss Leigh was speaking the Queen's English beautifully.
Upper class.
Miss Leigh was born in India, in the Anglo-Indian community. She would have been raised with a colonial accent that no longer exists.
She was British upper class.
another time
so beautiful but so cold like the other english women
