  • I decided to venture to a different place in search of fossils, the place is a little away from a site already well known to me that has a huge variety of corals. I had no idea what I would find... possibly more corals, but in reality the result was quite different and spectacular... There is something different there, you can see it on the ground by the countless fossils of Arcomytilus which are the most predominant species in the area. However there's something that I still can't identify... and nothing prepared me for the surprise I found....

Well you finally found an ammonite,I am glad for you!The odd 'roots" and filled tubes are fossil burrows.I have seen fossil shrimp in burrows like this.If you were in Texas USA the red filling in the burrows would be dolomite as these occur there infilling the burrow. That place would be nice to visit again as you may find another ammonite.Thank you again for the dawn trips into unknown country.😁😁😁

Thank you my friend. I confess that I was a bit confused when I saw those twisted shapes, I thought they were corals... The place is full of Arcomytilus bivalves and I only found a small piece of ammonite. I think I skimmed the entire site looking for ammonites but didn't find anything else. The only chance now would be to dig, but then it would be a bit blind and looking for luck. Maybe one day I'll go back there and try it, now would be the right time because the sun isn't very strong yet. I have to follow your advice and I have to see if there are shrimps at the tips of the borrows. Thank you so much friend for all the motivation and strength!

Nice finds, Zé. The tubes are trace fossils, burrows of decapod crustaceans, filled with sediment: Thalassinoides.
The small "bivalves" I think they are brachiopods, genus Rhynchonella.

Ze, have you walked any beaches near any cliffs or rock formations, Mamlambo finds a lot of very interesting stuff down NZ way.

Where in Portugal, some cliffs are very dangerous specialy during the winter. I live a bit far from the sea shore, so it's a bit difficult to me to go there. But one of these days if the weather is good I will make a video near the ocean. Thanks!😊👍🙏🦕🦖🐚🐚🐚

Those long things could be tunnels that are filled up with sand and then mineralized, it's not so rare, in Hungary, you can go to any digging spot like this and you most likely found some

Yes... You are right. But some of them, they seem that have the same curvature and angle, that's is puzziling to me. Almost looks like there's a pattern.... but you are correct and I imagined stuff ehehe.😅😊👍🦖🦕
