This seriously might be one of the most badass sounding songs ever made, especially this version.
Fr tho
Seattle Paramount 91 is better imo
Seriously, especially with really loud speakers and marijuana
It was so damn raw but good. And it sounded better live. (This was better than in 91 at the Paramount)
I felt the same way when I was 15. This is not an insult. My tastes have changed but I still love this song. It is interesting how my favorite Nirvana songs have changed over the years. Right now I am really enjoying Lounge Act, but I think Aneurysm is my long standing favorite.
I'M A NEGATIVE CREEP! AND I'M STONED! !!!!!! FUCK YEA!!!!!!!
YOU ARE JUST FUCKING DUMB, AAAH NEVERMIND

One of the great things about Nirvana is that they didn't just play their hits, but all their songs.
I consider all their songs to be hits
@@hey-zel me too.
@@hey-zel you cant consider anything a hit lmao, a "hit" is just a really popular song, i could write the greatest song ever but if no one listens to it its not a hit
@@elididde3377 I understand. I just meant it as a little joke
The grungiest of grunge
I feel it's more punk than grunge
@@wolfgang6442 You felt wrong
It’s more heavy metal than grunge or punk.
:))
@@youreokayboah2128 nah it’s jazz
No such thing as grunge. Do you actually believe Kurt once said "let's start a Grunge bsnd" ?
What a tone. Impossible to fully replicate. He really was awesome.
Ngl that chug at the start of the song is the best sounding thing ever!
boss distortion ds2 in mode turbo xd
riff is pretty heavy...love it.
That will be the drop D tuning.
+Christopher Leach might be drop c because they use that alot
Jonathan dedman I know how to play the song but I could never make it sound right. Thanks
+Jonathan dedman damn its so difficult to tune to Drop C by ear.
+Oisin Osborne Use a Tuner Bro.
I like how Kurt's guitar sound.

Krist looked badass back in the day with that hair
Now it's slowly fading away xD
He doesn't look like he was in a grunge band now
He’s still a badass.
He looks like cliff burton or mike Inez in this video
@@CasuallyJapan Lmao
If I could have seen Nirvana in concert I would having freaking unlocked my insanity onto the world and danced like the Devil himself were there
ME FUCKING TOO OMG
Fuck yeah
Kurt Freaking Cobain same🙌🏼
Why would you dance to your own concert?
Bloody guitar... Kurt was a beast :)
Literally theres blood on the guitar feom playing so hard
*PICK SCRAPES*
I like how nirvana played a heavy rock song only with 3 members. Nirvana is really the most awesome band in this century.
Ever heard of Motörhead?
What bout Cello and Pat Smear?
Ok but the white stripes is gonna blow your mind then 😂
Motorhead was a metal band, Nirvana not@@tylerletson6550
@@Necrodom I like the white stripes but you and me both know they aren't "heavy"
Krist playing some nasty bass riffs on this one
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Krist is the perfect punk bass player.

wathever nevermind what do you mean it doesn’t make sense
We are children of God. He is The Father. It makes sense.
It does make sense. What he means is that the little girl isnt a girl anymore. She's a woman all grown up.

I don't feel like he's dead. I think he will always live in our minds and hearts :)

Negative Creep: Metal with a Punk attitude.
Taylor Hazeltine Punk with a metal attitude :) or punk with a mental attitude!
Nothing metal about this
This ain't it chief.
Or just grunge
@@vvessel_ It's sludge metal.
I love screaming this in my room and playing my guitar at the sametime but for my mom to tell me to stop my "monster sounds" just makes me wanna do it more.
Cally Quinn same
Fucking right dude. Punk on.
Cally Quinn - I used to sing this song in my car a lot. Now I can't sing much at all. Not good for the vocal chords kids... (Smoking doesn't help much either... 🤔)
Funny, it was originally my mom who introduced me to nirvana.
+Henry2962 that's awesome
I envy SO much those who attended their concerts. It must have been a total blast
Their entire performance at this festival in Reading was absolutely epic. I love the fact that it was recorded and when I watch it takes me back to being 15, a much simpler time and some of the best years of my life, now well wait, damnit, shit, I need to get some sleep it's almost 10pm got work tomorrow. . .
Still love this shit all these years later.
Still sounds amazing 25 years later!!
While most lead singers prefer to play rhythm leaving the leads to another guitarist, Kurt never went down that road. It's amazing how he would compose riffs that were so deceptively simple in order to make it easier to play while singing such as Negative Creep and yet they were killer riffs and lead lines that were catchy as hell
Honestly some of his stuff isn't as simple to play and sing as they sound, playing it is always simple, but playing it and singing it? Different story. Especially come as you are and swap meet.
@@jacktilghman9797 I agree people make it seem like it oh so easy because they love saying how simple Kurt’s playing is they forget the intent of his composition. He made the lyrics first then the riff in mind that he had to play and sing at the same time which isn’t easy considering again he did lyrics first then instrumental. People just love to hate
ever heard mexican seafood? they played it from 87 to early 89. it's extremely hard to play hence why it was rarely played live (and maybe why it didn't make it bleach)
You realize a year after this they added a second guitarist lol
@@jacktilghman9797Mr Moustache
Mexican seafood and stain are all songs I have hard time singing when playing
I have no clue how he did it
I go back to this video every now and then to remember what great music sounded like.
This was simply the greatest band of all time, these three people make music sound so great. I feel really bad I never got to see them live, I'm sure it would've been the greatest...
I feel like you I'm born in 2009 and it piss me off!
Love Kurt's raspy vocal range.
This track is an absolute barnburner , 29 years later it still sounds fresh.
the coolest thing about this live show is the bloody guitar 🤘
This isn't music
It's gold

Can we just admire how cool Krist looked in this
Grohl is a F'in monster!!!!!! One of my fave rock songs ever recorded. They were so fkin powerful. Shit the bed!!!
If you knew what he was really like you wouldn't be saying that I can assure you
Very average songwriter
u jst can't get bored of nirvana 🤘❤️❤️
30 years ago today, we lost you, but as of now you’re still one of the best. your music, your message, and humor still continues to be so impactful to all of us. Kurt and Layne Staley will be both remembered on this day. R.I.P you two
one of my favorite guitar riffs in nirvana's catalog for sure, the verse riff is especially sinister and badass, the descending slide really adds personality and attitude, while also sounding distinct. Live@reading is also one of my favorite nirvana performances, really loved their sound here, so naturally I'm in heaven watching this video :)
It alternates between up and down.
Whenever I watch this show I always think the same thing. This is when Nirvana "brought it" literally. You can feel the energy through the screen even when you watch it.
Everything about this is beautiful
I remember creating me an audio CD years ago which I called "Negative Creeps", it had 12 live performances of negative creep back to back and I just played it over and over for months. I like this song that much!
Negative creeps sounds funny
The intro to this song is fucking amazing!!!!
One of their best songs.
This actually sounds so much better than the studio version. A clear indication that Kurt, Dave and Krist are truly talented.
I LOVE ALL NIRVANA SONGS, THEY'RE PERFECT!

Best song of Nirvana, ever.
This song is awesome, you can really feel it. Dave is a fucking MONSTER on drums my god.
I own every Nirvana album and believe it or not I know many people who do too....and what is even more striking we all impatiently waited for the release of a new album...I've been listening to them since I was a teenager...constantly arguing with my parents who claimed I will get over them...20 years later I am preparing my lectures on the sounds of Kurt's fantastic sound....
I have this CD (Live in Reading) and I proudly play it every day for the past few months
Still waiting for positive creep to come out
BEST SONG
best version, no question
FF That's true !
***** my favorite has become the version in pink's garage, in Hawaii
FF Hawaii, Feb '92, Live Tonight Sold Out :) no question!
Late replay, but in my opinion, the best version is the one they did at the Paramount Theater in 1991.
It all depends on guitar solo part bridge too. It's hard to beat the controlled feedback of Paramount '91, or this version's random high note in the second bend - it's just fucking badass.
Peace, love, empathy; HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURT!!
The only bad part of live performances is...Kurt rarely screams as he did in the album tracks..
And I love it when he does that.. that literally clears off my frustration
You see it a lot more on show footage that isn't 'official'. Search Nirvana Rome 91 and watch the first one. Should say something about reworked in the title
He was in pain. Terrible stomach problem
Kurt usually wouldn't scream like in the albums because he didn't want to fuck his voice up to the point that he couldn't record more songs
He probably did this because he didn’t want people thinking that he was lip sync throughout the concert
My favourite Nirvana track played in memory of Kurt 20 years after his death.
R.I.P. Kurt.
Kurt Cobain,
Did it end the pain,
Or did it hurt,
Kurt?
Peace, love and empathy...
it hurts that it ended with pain, he was killed. he should have been there for frances
Kurt was murdered and it caused a whole world of pain to those who had to grow up loving this man and his music and learning later what happened to him
This is probably my favorite live version of this song
I lived my teenager years through this magic.
Kurt u sure were a Genius
brad wright to the people who liked this comment fuck you
spencer pugh u
wish he knew that himself :(
i met a v cute boy amd he told me to listen to this song. i didnt get his name or his number this is what i hav to remember him by. and im thankful
My ultimate go to for when I'm feeling overwhelmed and need musical release for my anger. Do not listen to this in your car because it's a major cause of lead foot.
Was an incredible night, was 20 years old back then, half way to the stage left corner. Ears rang for hours after, was worth it.
Those slides and bends are so much more powerful here. Not to mention Krists fantastic bass tone anf Dave's badass drumming. Definitely my favorite Nirvana concert.
Edit: Krists hair is amazing.
The bass goes crazy on this song
0:26 look at the blood
Is it seriously blood?
Daniele Telera probably if he’s not using a pick

This is the best version of this song. Kurt's vocals are great. the sound is so powerful
This song cannot possibly be played loud enough to satisfy.
This song is so heavy metal, but with a dirtier and grittier sound. Love it!
Its punk
Those fucking vibratos are beautiful
I barely just realized Kurt was wearing a dress. For some reason I always thought that was a scientist lab coat or something. That's actually a pretty cool dress and I love that Kurt didn't shy away or hide his leanings towards women's clothing, coming from someone who also loves dresses.

That kicked so much ass that there is no ass left to kick.
So nice to watch him without all the drama surrounding him. We Loved this band in H.S.
We have finally understood what happened and can just enjoy the music again . The wonderful brilliant sound of Nirvana.
Eu brasileira e apaixonada por ele!!!!
Their sound on this gig was HUGE. Good mix too.
the rawness..

I was blessed to be in 10th grade when Bleach first came out, graduated when nevermind was released. Nirvana is what i lived and breathed. Still do.I am sooo fkn lucky. I feel sorry for those in high school now. nothing but PURE crap out now.
It is a good thing they stopped that song when they did. I am not sure the crowd could have handled another 8 seconds of that awesomeness.

Everytime I listen that "Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more" I think about Frances, even though this song was written before she was born
I was about to say she was 3 weeks old but that's when they're playing at this concert, so perfect timing :P
Alex, this song was on Bleach, which came out in '89, long before he even met Courtney and even thought of getting a baby

I marvel at Kurt's ability to strum in a completely different rhythm than that which is coming out of his amplifier.
